COSBY, Johnny Lee
COTTAGEVILLE - Mr. Johnny Lee Cosby, II, 72, of 1959 Wesley Chapel Ave., died Monday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, at the chapel of the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Cosby was born in Taladage, Ala., a son of the late Johnny Lee Cosby and Lillie Mae Peoples Cosby. He was a retired Shrimper and truck driver.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Ruth Patterson Cosby of Cottageville, two sons, Ricky Cosby of Cedartown, Ga., and Johnny Lee Cosby, III, of Tifton, Ga., two daughters, Linda Jones of Mt. Pleasant and Charlene Cofield of Cottageville, two sisters, Patricia Griffin of Hoboken, Ga., and Mary Ethel Inman of Manor, Ga., eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

BOWMAN - Henry Clay "Sunny" Kelly, Jr., 63, of 870 Hope Lane, Bowman, S.C., died Sunday at his residence. Mr. Kelly was born January 31, 1939, in Orangeburg County, a son of Henry Clay Kelly, Sr., and Mrs. Janie Abraham Kelly. He was a life-long member of the St. Stephens United Methodist Church and attended Bethune High School of Bowman, S.C. He was employed for many years as a truck driver and mechanic.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Bowman, S.C., his wife, Mrs. Lillian W. Kelly of Bowman, S.C., two daughters, Mrs. Burnell (Richard) Mitchell of St. George and Mrs. Sharon (Kelvin) Busby of Bowman, S.C.; one son, Ulysee (Shirley) Glover of Maryland; one sister, Mrs. Geneva (Bernard) Cummings of Jersey City, N.J., and one brother, Willie C. Kelly of Bowman, S.C. He is also survived by three aunts, one sister-in-law, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Mrs. Hill was born July 23, 1944, in Charleston, S.C., the daughter of the late Leslie E. Williams and Hazel Blocker Williams. She was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church. She graduated from Charleston Southern University. She retired from Charleston Baptist Association as office manager and bookkeeper.
She is survived by her mother of Charleston, S.C.; two sons, Charles G. Hill, Jr., and John S. Hill; two daughters, Terry Stafford and Lisa Singleton all of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, L. Edward Williams of Walterboro, S.C., and R. Allen Williams of Charleston, S.C.; three aunts, Louise Sauls, Mary Wylie and Anne Seignious; three uncles, J. Kirby Blocker, Harry E. Blocker and Howard Blocker; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

COWART, James
James Calvin Cowart, 78, of Summerville, S.C., widower of Mary Margaret Stone Cowart, died April 7, 2002 at a Moncks Corner Nursing Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2002 at Beaufort National cemetery.
Mr. Cowart was born September 20, 1923, in Bullock County, Ga., a son of the late James C. Cowart and Pearl B. Frisbee Cowart. He was a Navy veteran of W.W.II and retired from electrical maintenance with Union Camp Paper Mill in Savannah, Ga. and Brown and Root Construction.
Mr. Cowart is survived by two sons, Jimmie S. Cowart of Eutawville, S.C. and Warren L. Cowart of Ellabell, Ga., one sister, Mary Beth Cribbs of Dillon, S.C., eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was retired from the Department of the Navy Supship Six and served in W.W.II and the United States Naval Reserve. He was a faithful member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the Quis Qui Club, the Charleston Lions Club, the Elks Club, the Charleston Area Citadel Club, the Brigadier Foundation, South Carolina Irish Society, Fleet Reserve Association and the Navy League. Surviving are his wife, Doris Fagerstrom Bailey of Charleston; daughter, Patricia B. Regan of Charleston; two sons, Benjamin Bailey, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, Robert C. Bailey and his wife Joyce G. WOODWARD, James
GEORGETOWN - James Ellis Woodward, 80, died Monday, April 8, 2002, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Woodward was born September 9, 1921, in Willacoochee, Ga., a son of the late Thomas W. Woodward and Lila Brinson Woodward Allen. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Woodward lived in Georgetown for a number of years before moving to Florida working with the Container Division of International Paper Co. Later, he moved to Birmingham, Ala. and retired from Lockheed Martin Air Space Co. in 1985. Mr. Woodward returned to Georgetown to live in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ginn Woodward of Georgetown; two sons, James E. Woodward, Jr. of Birmingham, Ala. and Frank Woodward of Orange Park, Fla.; two step-daughters, Cynthia Kennedy and Betty Carol Smith, both of St. Simons Island, Ga.; a brother, William D. Woodward of Georgetown; a sister, Mary W. Horton of Georgetown; two sisters-in-law, Frances Woodward and Olga Woodward Russ, both of Georgetown; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Mr. Woodward was predeceased by two brothers, Jack F. Woodward and Thomas Woodward.
Funeral services will be 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2002, at the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be the Rev. Luford O. Pope. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
