WEATHERFORD, Myrtle
EUTAWVILLE - Mrs. Myrtle Winningham Weatherford, 67, of 130 Chaney Court, Eutawville, died Saturday at her residence.
The funeral will be 11 AM Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Holly Hill with the Rev. Venning Long, Rev.
George Reeves, and Mr. John Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in Eutawville cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 10 AM.
Mrs. Weatherford was born in Vance a daughter of the late Adam T. Winningham and Alfew Martin Winningham. She was a retired seamstress and a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Holly Hill.
Survivors are her husband, Julius Weatherford of the home; daughters, Mrs. Elaine Nesbitt of Vance, and Mrs. Faye Reeves of Cottageville; sons, George Weatherford of Eutawville, James Weatherford of Cross, and Ernest Weatherford of Holly Hill; sisters, Mrs. Janie Lee Jackson of Charleston, Mrs. Frances Miles and Mrs. Mary D. Bolen both of Vance, Mrs. Annie Jean Weatherford of Cross, Mrs. Estelle Parker of Eutawville, and Mrs. Mozelle Williams of Savannah, Ga.; brothers, Hessie Winningham of Vance, and Newman A. Winningham of Goose Creek; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

EVANS, Margaret
HOLLY HILL - Mrs. Margaret Whetstone Evans, 97, of the Providence Community died Saturday at The Methodist Oaks, Orangeburg, S.C.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Marcy officiating and Rev. Zach Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The casket will be placed in the church at 3 PM.
Pallbearers will be Larry Shuler, Carlton Fraylick, O'Dean Hutto, Rusty Collier, Heyward West, and F. Edward Shuler.
Mrs. Evans was born September 20, 1914 in Rowesville a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Fairey Whetstone. She was the widow of the late Frank Evans, Sr., of Providence.
Mrs. Evans was a graduate of Columbia College. She taught in the public schools of South Carolina including Mellichamp in Orangeburg and Ben Tillman in Charleston for more than forty years. Even into her last years, she had the ability to recognize each of the children who had been part of her classes over the years. She was a Delta Kappa Gamma sorority member.
Mrs. Evans first came to Providence as a teacher in the 1930's. After her marriage in 1970, she returned to Providence. She was active in the community and as a member of Providence United Methodist Church. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class, and the Belle Bennett Circle of the United Methodist Women.
To honor her husband's memory she became active in helping research the history of the Evans family in Providence and her help was acknowledged by the author of Our Evans Heritage. She became very close to the extended
Evans family through that endeavor. She was an avid gardener and was most at home and at peace working with nature. This love of gardening did not end when she became a resident of The Methodist Oaks. She transplanted many cuttings from her family home in Rowesville to the grounds of The Methodist Oaks. She was affectionately known as "Butterfly" by those whose lives she touched through her kindness and love of people.
Survivors include two sisters, Gertrude Whetstone of Rowesville and Annie Whetstone Dunivant of North Charleston; a brother, Frank Whetstone of Deland, Florida; a sister-in-law, Estelle Whetstone of The Methodist Oaks; her granddaughters, Frankie Evans Locklair of Providence and Alice Evans (Geoff) Tennant of Tryon, North Carolina; her great-granddaughter, Karen Locklair of Providence; three nieces, Phyllis Pendarvis of Columbia, Joyce Flowers of Hilton Head, and Diane Yates of Deland, Florida; two nephews, Arthur Whetstone of Ooltewah, Tennessee, and Frank Whetstone, III of Deland, Florida; and three step-children, Patricia Scott of Pinopolis, Carson Evans of Charleston, and David Evans of Vance.
Visitation will be at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME IN HOLLY HILL, from 5 to 7 PM this Monday evening.

Pleasant, S.C.; four grandchildren, Michelle Beasley, Sheila Ruiz, Michael Beasley and Laurin Smith Collar; and three great-grandchildren, Ariana Ruiz, Jonathan Ruiz and Haley Beasley.

WATTS, Robert
Robert Charles Watts, 68, of Summerville, husband of Wanda Lee Starkey Watts died Saturday in a North Charleston hospital.
Services and burial will be private.
Mr. Watts was born October 13, 1933 in Sherrard, West Virginia, a son of the late Rev. Glenn Dale Watts and Minnie Jane Thomas Watts.
Mr. Watts graduated from Valley High School in Pinegrove, West Virginia. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served with the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. He was a retired employee of The Seabrook Island Club where he was a golf course caretaker and later worked in the maintenance department.
Mr. Watts was a member of the Elks Lodge in Mannington, West Virginia; an avid sports fan and golf enthusiast. He was a Methodist.
Surviving are his wife of Summerville; 2 sons, Charles Lee Watts of Manassas, Va., Robert D. Watts of Hanahan, S.C.; 2 daughters, Robin Lynn Stout of Norfolk, Va., Nancy Clark of Knightsville, S.C.; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 1 brother, Donald Eugene Watts of New Martinsville, W.Va.
