CLARK, Mary
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of March 31, 2002, Mary Perkins Clark, wife of Robert E. Clark. Residence, James Island, S.C. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the home of Mrs. Mary Lou Wise on Thursday, April 4, between 2 and 5 o'clock.
Mrs. Clark was born July13, 1921, in Castine, Maine, the daughter of Frederick Carleton Clark and Hattie Belle Sawyer Perkins Clark.
She is survived by her husband of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Frances Perkins Clark of McLean, Va.; two sons, Robert E. Clark, Jr., and his wife Gail and John Sawyer Clark of Clemson, S.C.; one sister, Anita Perkins Mortimer of Lewiston, Maine; one nephew, Bruce Mortimer of Winthrop, Maine, and several grandnieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite #504, North Charleston, S.C. 29406, or to a charity of one's choice.

OTIS, Frederick
Frederick H. Otis died March 27, 2002, at a local hospital, Charleston, S.C. He was born January 4, 1916, at Springfield, Mass., and spent his youth in Webster, Mass. He was married in Florida in 1934. He moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he worked at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He moved to Charleston in 1972 and worked at Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Naval architect until his retirement, mid 1980's. After retiring he resided near Hollywood, S.C., the remainder of his life. He is survived by two sons, Frederick Joseph Otis of Sacramento, Calif., Richard Frederick Otis of Miami, Fla., and Paul Loring Otis of Burnet, Texas; a step-daughter Jane Elizabeth Potak of Miami, Fla.; a grandson, Matthew Paul Otis of Temple, Texas; and one dog, Niff. A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, April 3, at 2 p.m., at Christ Church, Adams Run, S.C., Highway 174 (near Post Office). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1941 Savage Road, Charleston, S.C. 29414.

WRIGHT, Annie
Annie Ruth Wright, 73, wife of Jack D. Wright of Cordesville, S.C., died Monday April 1, 2002 in a local hospital. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. Wright are invited to attend the funeral services of the former Wednesday afternoon, April 3, 2002 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 4:30 o'clock. Entombment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock.
Mrs. Wright was born in Yemassee, S.C., a daughter of Wilbur Owens and Edna White Owens Bivens. She retired from Roper Hospital as a Physical Therapist and was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church. Mrs. Wright graduated from St. Paul High School.
Surviving are her husband, Jack D. Wright of Cordesville, S.C., two daughters, Garnell Thompson and Donna Newton, both of Summerville, S.C., two sisters, Blanche Newton of Ravenel, S.C. and Elizabeth Gaskins of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., one step daughter, Kathy Faircloth of Summerville, S.C. and one step son, Gregg Wright of Ohio, four grandchildren, Angela Karr, Karen Pitt, Rhett Newton and Sierra Newton, four great-grandchildren, Gregory Paulson, Ryan Karr, Chelsea Karr and Victoria Pitt.

ANCRUM, Isabelle
Entered into eternal rest on March 31, 2002 Mrs. Isabelle Ladson Ancrum, of 1915 Ferguson Road Street, Charleston, S.C. Beloved mother of Frank P. Ancrum, III, Kyren Ancrum both of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Leroy Ferguson, Julius Ladson (Carrie), Ricky Ladson, Theola Ladson, Marie Ladson, Voila Hardaway all of Charleston, S.C. and Jenetta Nelson (Richard) of Jersey City, N.J. Niece of Julia Brown and Arthur Ladson both of Charleston, S.C. The family will receive friends at 290 Fleming Road Apt. C, Charleston, S.C. Funeral notice later. CROSBY, Jimmy
FLORENCE, S.C. - Rev. Jimmy Wayne Crosby, 59, of Florence, S.C. died early Sunday morning, March 31, 2002, in a Florence hospital.
Rev. Crosby was a retired minister in the Church of God of Prophecy pastoring churches throughout South Carolina.
Surviving are his wife, Lois E. Crosby of Florence; 2 daughters, Renee (Scott) Wicker of Timmonsville and Michelle (Jay) Hardy of Florence; 2 sons, John Wayne Crosby and Charley Chandler both of Piedmont, S.C.; 3 brothers, Willie (Nellie) Crosby of Morgantown, N.C., Joe (Geri) Crosby of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Command Sgt. Major Rick (Mara) Crosby of Ft. Rucker, Ala.; 2 sisters, Geraldine Player of Florence, S.C. and Linda (Mike) Kelly of Sumter, S.C.; and 2 granddaughters, Alyssa and Erynn Hardy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by STOUDENMIRE-DOWLING FUNERAL HOME.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

ROHDE, Homer
WALTERBORO - Homer Robert Rohde, 72, of Sixth Street died Monday at his residence. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Rhode was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Joseph S. Rohde and Verlma Dawson Rohde Buttermore. He was a retired First Sergeant with the U.S. Marines, having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Ruffin Charge, a member of the Elks Lodge, a member of Masonic Lodge #118 in Okinawa, Japan, and was a former resident of Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
Surviving are his wife, Janie Price Rohde, a daughter, Deborah B. Preacher of Walterboro, four sons, Richard "Rick" A. Rohde and his wife, Joyce of Walterboro, Richard Robert Rohde and his wife Bevelyn of Hawaii, Gary P. Rohde and his wife Lacey of Walterboro, and Ronald J. Rohde of Walterboro, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.

STOKES, Samuel
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of March 31, 2002, Samuel (Sammy) Hammond Stokes. Residence, Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services Wednesday at 2 o'clock in J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Interment, Holy Cross cemetery. Friends may call at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Stokes was born November 3, 1919, in Charleston, S.C., the son of Albert Leondias Stokes and Caroline Virginia Hammond Stokes. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He retired as a bookkeeper and sales with A.M. Moore, a Food Brokerage Company. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W.II.
One sister survives him, Margaret Stokes Thames of Charleston, S.C. and nieces and nephews.

SINGLETARY, Charles
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Singletary are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in First Baptist Church of Goose Creek this (Tuesday) afternoon, April 2, 2002 at 2 o'clock. THOMPSON, Verla Mae
Verla Mae Thompson, who preferred to be called "Skip, " was born August 3, 1918, in Akron, Ohio, and entered into eternal peace March 30, 2002, at the Medical University of SC. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Lillian Ballenger, and her sister Bernice.
During her lifetime, "Skip, " was a prospector, fisherman, gardener, church organist, dog-lover and motorcycle rider, and above all, was "Mom." She began her working career at the Kresge Company in Akron. After many years as an office manager and bookkeeper, she retired from the Charleston Chamber of Commerce in 1988.
Ms. Thompson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet L. and Harold L. Browning of James Island, SC. Her son, John L. Thompson, IV and his wife, Joyce, of St. Louis, MO. Grandchildren, Ella M. Browning, Harold L. Browning II, John L. Thompson, V, and Jessica Ann Thompson, granddaughter-in-law, Terri Browning. Great grandchildren, Harold L. Browning, III, Joseph C. Browning, Amy Forehand an Benjamin Hodges, as well as many good friends and neighbors.
Ms. Thompson was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. The Medical University of SC received her into the body donation program for research and teaching. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to make a donation to the Medical University Health Sciences Foundation or to a favorite charity.
Services will be announced at a future date.
