Marie W. Helpingstine, 87, widow of Woodrow W. Helpingstine of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. died Saturday, April 13, 2002 in a local nursing home. The memorial service will be Thursday, April 18, 2002 in Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church at 1:00 o'clock. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Inurnment will be in Arlington National cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by J. Mrs. Helpingstine was born December 3, 1914 in Brookhaven, Mississippi, the daughter of Joseph B. and Annie W. West. She retired in 1974 from the Polaris Missile Facility as an Accounts Maintenance Supervisor. Mrs. Helpingstine was a member of Milcah Temple #77, Daughters of the Nile, Lawrence Howell Court #77, Daughters of the Nile, Lawrence Howell Court #7, Order of the Amaranth and a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Jo Anne Kensil of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and one son, Jay Elliott and his wife Jan, of Bonita Springs, Fla., three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Houston Carl Crowder, Sr. and Houston Carl Crowder, Jr. both of Charleston, S.C.; five daughters, V.
