Dr. Hard died Wednesday, September 11, 2002. Born in Charleston, he was the son of the late Julian Adams Hard, Jr., Ruth Lawson Hard, and Rose Pender Hard. Dr. Hard was a retired family practitioner, having served Kershaw County medical community for forty years. He was a 1955 graduate of the Citadel and a 1959 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, a member of Kershaw County Medical Society, former Public Health Medical Director of Kershaw County, a volunteer physician for the Kershaw County Community Medical Clinic, past president of the Camden Lions Club, member of the Camden Shrine Club, and a US Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Miteva Bennett Hard of Camden; 4 daughters, Rosemary H. Brown and her husband Tracy of Charleston, Michelle Hard of Charleston, Celeste H. Ranson and her husband Tom of Camden, and Laurel H. Hays and her husband Jeff of Charleston; 4 granddaughters, Mallory Brown, Haley and Hannah Ranson, and Caroline Hays; 1 grandson, Logan Brown; cousins Mary and Don Pearson, and their son, Harry Varnadore, of New Orleans.

PEARCE, III, C.
GREENVILEE, SC - Christopher C. Pearce, III, 74, of 20 Harvest Lane, died September 10, 2002 at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late C. C. Pearce, Jr. and Iris Landrum Pearce. He spent his career with Pearce, Young, and Angel/PYA-Monarch, Inc. Mr. Pearce held positions in the offices of Spartanburg, Asheville, Charleston, and Greenville. His career culminated as Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales.
Mr. Pearce graduated from Baylor School, Chattanooga, Tennessee and was an alumnus of the Citadel, class of 1950.
Mr. Pearce was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Christ Church, St. Andrew's Society, Greenville Country Club, Biltmore Forest Country Club, The Cotillion, and the Poinsett Club.
Surviving are his wife, Betty McClenaghan Pearce of the home; three children, a daughter, Sharon Wilson and son-in-law, Steve Wilson, daughter, Martha Armstrong and son-in-law, Murphy Armstrong, both of Greenville, a son, Chris Pearce and daughter-in-law, Margie Pearce of Winston-Salem, NC; and seven grandchildren, Steve and Liza Wilson, John and Elizabeth Armstrong of Greenville, C.C., Kelly, and Emily Pearce of Winston-Salem, NC. He is also survived by a brother, Joe B. Pearce and a sister, Kathleen Geiger, both of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at Christ Church with burial in Springwood cemetery. Rev. Dr. Robert S. Dannals will officiate.

Anastasia G. Anagnos, 93, of Charleston, widow of William John Anagnos, died Saturday, September 7, 2002.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at 2 o'clock in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston.
Mrs. Anagnos was born on January 19, 1909 in Arta, Epirus, Greece, a daughter of the late Nick Gongos and Helen Yitsis Gongos. She was educated in schools in Arta and Athens, Greece. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and was a member of the Philoptochos and GAPA.
Surviving are her daughter, Lily Lamis of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Andrew Lamis of Chicago, Illinois; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, John Basil Anagnos.

GREENE, Carl
HARLEYVILLE, S.C. - Carl E. Greene, 81, of 125 Hilton Street, died Tuesday September 10, 2002 in the Medical University Hospital Charleston.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church of Harleyville Chapel with Rev. Edward Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow with American Legion Rites in the Harleyville cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George. Pallbearers will be Albert Canaday, Craig Bishop, Wayne Knight, Wilbur Weeks, Freddie Hilton, Curt Mobley, Leo Pigate, Franklin Riley.
Mr. Greene was born February 19, 1921 in Rockville, Indiana a son of the late Lee Otis and Mary Martin Greene. He was a retired employee of Giant Cement Company. He served in the Army during WW II, a Methodist, and a member of Harleyville American Legion Post and PACE-Local Union 3-0216.
Surviving: wife, Vera Summers Greene, Harleyville, 2 sons, Carl Michael Greene and Dale Earnest Greene, both Harleyville, 3 Grandchildren, Bradley M. Greene, Joseph C. Greene and Taylor Ann Summers Greene, a brother, Byron Greene, Rosedale, IN, a sister, Alberta Garrett, Neoga, Illinois and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

GRAF, Carolyn Bailey
Mrs. Carolyn Bailey Graf, 52, passed away Tuesday evening, September 10, 2002, at her residence on the Isle of Palms.
Born in Princeton, West Virginia on December 29, 1949, Mrs. Graf studied at the American College in Paris in 1970 and graduated the same year from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in French and Spanish. She married
Robert Gerald Graf on February 27, 1971, in Bluefield, West Virginia. Mrs. Graf served as secretary and treasurer of her parent’s clothing store, the Town ‘N Tweed Shop in Bluefield, West Virginia from 1971 to 1980 and then as founder and secretary for her and her husband’s businesses: American Mine Research, East River Metals, and Custom Manufacturing Services in Rocky Gap, Virginia and Princeton, West Virginia, respectively, from 1977 to 2002. While at the University of Tennessee, she was a member of Alpha Omega Pi Sorority. First a member of Bland Street United Methodist in Bluefield, West Virginia, she later joined the Church of the Holy Cross on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina.
A devoted mother and wife, she is survived by her husband, Robert, 56, two sons, David Gerald, 24, Richard William, 16, and her daughter, Cynthia Dean, 21. She will be forever remembered by family and friends for her kindness, selflessness and genteel nature.
