ALEXANDER, Herman
Herman Lee Alexander, age 74, of North Charleston, died Saturday, September 7, 2002, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2002, at 2 p.m., in Carolina Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 9, 2002, at their home at 5621 Garrett Ave., North Charleston.
Born in Cherokee, Ala., he was the son of the late Earnest and Minnie Arp Alexander. Mr. Alexander was retired from North Charleston Public Works. Mr. Alexander was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Alexander, two daughters, Rebecca Taylor and Kathy Marshall, four sons, Franklin Alexander, Donnie Alexander, Terry Alexander, and Jeffery Ledbetter, all of North Charleston, two sisters, Virginia Lee and Jessie Alexander both of Centers, Ala., six brothers, George, Horace, Earl, Jerry, and Charles Alexander, all of Center, Ala., and James Alexander of Florida. Also there are 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

MCLEOD, Patrick
Patrick Tomas McLeod, infant son of Michael McLeod and Lisa Rooney McLeod, of Summerville, died Sunday, September 8, 2002, at a Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be held at Ferndale Baptist Church, Tuesday afternoon, September 10, 2002, at 2 o'clock. Burial will be held at Summerville cemetery.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Lisa McLeod of Summerville; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Dianne Rooney, of Summerville; maternal great-grandparents, Sam and Tina Strickland of North Charleston, S.C.; maternal great-grandmother, Doris J. Rooney of Valparaiso, Fla.; his paternal grandfather, Edward J. McLeod and his wife, Barbara McLeod, both of Charleston; his great-aunt, Linda Reid of Charleston, S.C.; his aunt, uncle and cousin, Kimberly and Kee Farmer and their son, Tyler Farmer, all of Summerville; and his uncle, Jimmy Rooney of Summerville and Jimmy's fiancée, Rachel Cook of Goose Creek, S.C.

DETRIC, Clair
VARNVILLE - Mr. Clair H. Detrick, 82, husband of Marlene T. Detrick, died Saturday evening at the Bayview Nursing Center, Beaufort. Mr. Detrick was born August 2, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Paul O. Detrick and Mary Heasley Detrick. He was a retired manager at Westinghouse Cooperation, and a retired Public Accountant with Detrick Tax Service. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a charter member of All Saints Episcopal Church, a member of the South Carolina Accountants Assoc., Secretary-Treasurer of the Hampton County Country Club, the founder of the Pop-Warner Football League of Hampton, he coached Little League Baseball, Pony League and Football. He was also a coach of the Hampton Mens Fast-pitch Softball Team. Surviving are, sons, Paul Detrick, Hampton, and Richard Gomrick, Atlanta; daughters, Betty French, Varnville, Susanne Whiddon, Simpsonville, Barbara Gray, Brunson, and Karen Berrier, Lexington. There are 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME with burial in the Varnville cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and until the hour of service on Monday.
CRAFT, Marjorie
COLUMBIA - Graveside service for Marjorie Mann Craft, 85, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m., in Elmwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Craft, wife of the late Fred C. Craft, Sr., died Sunday, September 8, following a brief illness. Born January 4, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Robert Friday Mann and Eva McFadden Mann. She spent her early years in Charleston and later lived in Winnsboro, Summerville, and Columbia. Most recently she lived at the Heritage in Columbia and then at the Episcopal Homes of South Carolina at Still Hopes.
Mrs. Craft was a communicant of Trinity Cathedral and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, National Society of Magna Charta Dames and served as a docent at the South Carolina Governor's Mansion.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Fred C. Craft, Jr., and Elaine Leggett Craft of Cheraw; brother, Lawrence Randolph Mann of Winnsboro and West Carrollton, Ohio; sister, Mrs. Henry (Peggy) Schatz of Charlotte, N.C., grandchildren, Calvin Leggett Craft of Monroe, Ga., Marjorie Mann Craft of Florence and Mary McFadden Craft of Charlotte, N.C. She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Randolph Craft and sister, Evelyn Mann Hartley of Mt. Pleasant.

Steven Theodore Betakas, 49, of Summerville, SC, died Friday, September 6, 2002 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at Deliverance Tabernacle, Monday afternoon, September 9, 2002 at 2 o'clock. Entombment will be held at Summerville cemetery Mausoleum.
Mr. Betakas was born in Flint, Michigan on November 3, 1952, a son of George Betakas and Willie Frierson Betakas. He was the manager of Summerville Lumber Company and a member of Deliverance Tabernacle.

Lillie Mae McDaniel, 66, of Sandy Dr., Moncks Corner, SC, a retired roving manager for the Berkeley County School System, died Saturday in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday afternoon, September 10, 2002 in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will be in the Johnson cemetery, Beaver Dam. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM this Monday evening.
Mrs. McDaniel was born January 31, 1936 in Beaver Dam, SC, a daughter of Arthur Junious Mims and Hazel Louise Phillips Mims. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Moncks Corner, and she was a former production worker at Albany International. Mrs. McDaniel was a graduate of Macedonia High School and received her Associate's Degree from Trident Technical College.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond O. McDaniel; a daughter, Sandra Leigh McDaniel of Cocoa, Florida; a son, Robert O. "Bobby" McDaniel of Beaver Dam; a sister, Sybil Elaine Emrhein of Moncks Corner; and three grandchildren.
FAUST, Alice
Mrs. Alice Mildred D. Faust, 97, widow of the late Stephen D. Faust, of Luray, died Saturday evening in the Ridgeland Nursing Center.
Mrs. Faust was born February 22, 1905, in Prattville, Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert L. Duffie and Mildred Hunter Duffie. She was a homemaker and a member of the Luray Christian Church.
Surviving are nieces, Mildred Groman of Southland, Maryland, Vivian Griffin of Fairfax, Virginia, Eugenia Mitchum of Port Orange, Florida, Ruth Hardy of Louisville, Kentucky, Elizabeth Lumpkin of Alabama; and nephews, Richard Motley, Sr. of Port Orange, Florida, Robert L. Motley, Sr. of District Heights, Maryland, Clarance B. Duffy of Montgomery, Alabama.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 AM in the Luray Christian Church with burial in the Beech Branch Church cemetery, conducted by Rev. Jack Diamond. Mr. Clifford Wayne Richardson, 59, husband of Sandy Richardson, of 625 Lightsey St. Ext., died Saturday evening at the Hampton Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Richardson was born February 19, 1943, Forest Hill, Marylan, a son of Mrs. Chloe Pugh Richardson and the late John Wayne Richardson. He was general manager of Falcon Industries, Estill, and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife of Hampton; his mother of Summerville; sons, Russell Richardson and Jeffrey Richardson of Varnville; a brother, Franklin Donald Richardson of Baltimore, Maryland; a sister, Helen Ward of Ladson, SC.
