MCBEE, S.C. - Funeral services for Jimmie Reddy Blackwell, age 93, who died September 3, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., from the Chapel of NORTON FUNERAL HOME, HARTSVILLE CHAPEL. Rev. Charlie Short will officiate. Burial will be in the Union United Methodist Church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Blackwell was born in South Carolina a daughter of the late James & Blanche Jones Reddy. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
Surviving are, daughter, Louise Anderson, Ft. Washington, Md., and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. (Buck) Miller.

Lester Gordon Peters, 74, beloved husband of Patricia J. Peters, of Charleston, died Wednesday, September 4, at a local hospital. Born in Charleston to the late Holland McKissick Peters, Sr., and Lucy Missouri Wimberly Peters. He was a graduate of Rivers High School and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Peters will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by a son, John Steven Peters, a brother, Joseph Peters, three sisters, Frances Peters Keller, Ethel Carolyn Peters, Nell Peters Mael, and a brother-in-law, Edward Michael Jones. Mr. Peters is survived by his wife, three sons, Lester G. Peters, Jr., of Charleston, Timothy McK. Peters, Sr., and his wife Kay Holton Peters of Kernersville, N.C., and Patrick Jones Peters and his wife Pamela Hammond Peters of Sumter, S.C., two daughters, Lucy Marie Peters, and Nancy Ann Peters, both of Johns Island, S.C., a brother, Holland McKissick Peters, a brother-in-law, John and his wife Becky Jones and a sister-in-law, Lynda C. Jones. Also survived by four grandchildren, Timothy McK. Peters, Jr., Kristen Colleen Peters, Thomas Holton Peters, and Patrick Donnelly Peters, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 5, at MCALISTER-SMITH DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St., with a Rosary Service being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 6, at the funeral home chapel. GODWIN, Sarah
LAKE CITY - Mrs. Sarah Louise Evans Godwin, 72, wife of Carroll F. Godwin, died Thursday, September 5, 2002, in a Florence Nursing Center after an illness.
Mrs. Godwin was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Dr. Dexter M. and Bessie Brake Evans. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1947 and was a 1950 graduate of Converse College. At Converse College she was very active and majored in chemistry and biology. She graduated from Converse in three years, was the editor of the annual and president of the Crescent Honor Society. She was always active in civic and church affairs. She was a life-long member of Lake City United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, a Circle leader and past president of The United Methodist Women.
She was a school teacher in the Lake City School System, as well as, The Carolina Academy for many years. She was a very strict, but good, teacher who cared about each and every student she taught and always went the extra mile to help them. Later in life they realized how much Ms. Godwin had prepared them for college and for their future and came back to thank her.
Sarah Louise loved life, people, teaching, but mostly her family. She touched everyone that came into her life and each one has taken something valuable with them just from their experience with her.
Sarah Louise and her husband's hobby was traveling abroad where they visited throught the Orient and Europe many times. She was the honored guest in Japan at a 100-year anniversary party of Nissan. She traveled to Greece where had had always dreamed of visiting the ruins which is where her true passion of Greek mythology began.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Carroll F. Godwin of Lake City; one daughter, Frances Caroline Godwin Worley of Scranton; one son, Dexter Evans Godwin of Lake City; four grandchildren, Sarah Leigh Godwin, Dexter Evans Godwin, Jr., Jordan Evans Worley and Olivia Marie Worley; and one sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Green of Lake City. She was predeceased by a brother, Dexter M. "Sonny" Evans, Jr., M.D.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 7, 2002, in the Lake City United Methodist Church with burial in the Lake City cemetery.
The family will have visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening in the funeral home.

ST. GEORGE, S.C. - Mrs. Lucille Hill Veronee, 79 of 710 N. Parler Ave., St. George died Wednesday in Trident Medical Center, Charleston, SC.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until time for service at the church. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Veronee was born December 10, 1922 in St. George a daughter of the late Gary Ernest Hill and Cora Lee Murray Hill. She was a graduate of St. George High School, former employee of B.C. Moore Department store and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jolly, widow of Robert Franklin Jolly, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002. Born in Sellers, AL, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Asbury and Jimmie Idella Brown Johnston. Mrs. Jolly attended Columbia Business College. She was a former proof reader for the State Printing Company and later retired from R.L. Bryan Company. Mrs. Jolly served as a B-25 mechanic with Columbia Army Air Base in WWII. She was a member of Harrison Road Baptist Church.
Survivors are a son, Fritz D. Jolly and his wife Frances of Blythewood; grandsons, David Franklin Jolly and his wife Kim, Christopher Scott Jolly and his wife Dawn, Curtis Marion Jolly and his wife Mickey, Jason Warren Jolly and his wife Jennifer; 3 great-grandchildren, Christopher Bryan Jolly, Courtney Dawn Jolly, and James Warren Jolly; also numerous nieces and nephews.
