METTS, Fred
ORANGEBURG - Rev. Fred C. Metts, Jr., 84 years of age, of the Methodist Oaks Retirement Center in Orangeburg, died Tuesday September 3, 2002.
Mr. Metts was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Frederick C. Metts, Sr. and Mildred Garner Metts. He attended Branchville High School, and was a graduate of Texas Wesleyan College, Texas Christian University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the University of Georgia. He was ordained into the Gospel Ministry of the Baptist denomination at Peoria, Texas, April 25, 1946. He pastored churches in Mullins, Nichols, Lugoff, and Anderson, SC. In 1962 he accepted a position in Anderson College, Anderson, SC, where he taught religion for 26 years, and where he received many honors. While at the college he was able to preach in some 80 different churches of various denominations. He is listed in Marcus' "Who is Who in Religion."
Mr. Metts was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Carey B. Metts and a sister, Mamie Metts Brownlee.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church by Rev. Bobby Ethridge, with burial in the churchyard. The active deacons will serve as pallbearers, and the members of the adult men's class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The casket will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM.
Survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Carter Metts of Orangeburg; three nephews, Mr. Al Metts, Mr. Terry Brownlee, and Mr. Timmy Brownlee; one niece, Mrs. Melissa B. Platt; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mae B. Metts and Mrs. Shelby A. Metts.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM at the OTT FUNERAL HOME IN BRANCHVILLE, and also at the home of Mrs. Mae Metts, 120 Flatwoods Rd., Branchville. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Oaks or to the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
SUCHEY, Betty
Betty Lou Cline Suchey, 61, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on the evening of August 29, 2002. She was born in West Virginia on December 25, 1940, the daughter of Sherman and Luna Cline and the widow of Mike S. Suchey. Ms. Suchey passed after a long battle with cancer.
She is survived by her mohter, Luna Painter Cline; two sisters, Irene Rose and Teresa Willard; her children, George M. Suchey, Steven J. Suchey, Robert P. Suchey, Marya M. Blocker and her husband Dan A. Blocker; four grandchildren, Michael R. Blocker, Elena M. Suchey, Michael P. Suchey, and Steven L. Suchey; special friend that was like a daughter to her, Kande L. Cales and her daughters, Samantha and Katie.

G. Ann Haynie, 59, of North Charleston, wife of Adrian O. Haynie, died Monday, September 2, 2002 in a North Charleston hospital.

She was a member of Crosstitch Pals. She was a former bookkeeper for Cities in Schools and Juvenile Restitution Program.
Surviving are her husband of North Charleston; 2 daughters, Kimberly Bendt of Ladson, Elizabeth Williamson of Conway; 6 grandchildren; one sister, Edna Bleck of Crestline, OH.

Iona Gladys Hachey, 96, of Summerville, widow of William Plante and Herbert J. Hachey, died Tuesday morning, September 3, 2002 at her residence.
Services and burial will be private.
Mrs. Hachey was born on June 17, 1906 in Milo, Maine, a daughter of the late Charles Mayo and Sadie Stedman Mayo. She graduated from schools in Maine. She worked as an assistant dietician with Mount Holyoke College in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was a member of the Cathedral of Praise in Charleston.
Surviving are one son, Stedman W. Plante of Indian Lake Estates, FL; 2 daughters, Phyllis R. Doucette of Kittery, ME, Judith R. Famorca of Summerville, SC; 8 grandchildren, Steven Plante of New Hampshire, Phillip Doucette of Kittery, ME, Sharon Doucette Cressey of South Burrick, ME, Laura Mallory Stouffer of Summerville, SC, John E. Mallory of Port Huron, MI, Valerie Plante Roberson of Summerville, SC, Mark A. Famorca of Summerville, SC; 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Courtney J. Plante.
