O'CONNER, Genevieve
Genevieve Ann (Smith) O'Conner, 71, of Goose Creek, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at a local hospital. Born on December 20, 1930 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of Perry and Elizabeth Smith (nee McGrane). She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and a friend to all who knew and loved her. For 12 years she was the bookkeeper at Marrington Elementary School in Goose Creek. She is survived by her husband Francis; two sons, Timothy E. O'Conner of North Charleston, SC, John F. O'Conner of Ladson, SC; three daughters, Elizabeth A. Davis of Goose Creek, SC, Cynthia Miller of Port Orchard, WA, Mary F. O'Conner of Cottageville, SC; one brother, Perry J. Smith of Cordesville, SC; two sisters, Patricia Rogers of Belton, SC, Teresa Fox of North Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne M. O'Conner; two sisters, Elizabeth Rivers, and Delores Flemming. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 2, 2002 between the hours of 6 and 8 PM in the Goose Creek Chapel of MC-ALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 100 S. Goose Creek Blvd. (Hwy 52). The Rosary will be recited at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. TAYLOR, Katelynn
Katelynn Marie Taylor, infant daughter of William "Billy" Taylor and Karen Denise Massey Taylor, of Summerville, was born on Wednesday, August 28, 2002, and died Thursday, August 29, 2002 in Medical University Hospital of South Carolina.
A private graveside service and burial was held in First Baptist Church of Jedburg cemetery.
Surviving are her parents of Summerville; twin sister, Carolynn Denise Taylor of Summerville; paternal grandparents, Trisha and Bill Taylor of Summerville; maternal grandparents, Roy and Beverly Massey of Summerville; paternal great-grandmothers, Louise Hollis of North Carolina, Frances Blackwell of Goose Creek; maternal great-grandparents, Levone and Roy L. Massey of North Charleston, Warren and Lorene Brookshire of Florida; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mrs. Muckenfuss was born December 24, 1911 in Cordova, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Medieus James Stack and Emily Victoria Smoak Stack. She was a graduate of Cordova schools in Orangeburg, SC. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jedburg and Ridgeville Chapter #290 Order of Eastern Star.

Mary Sue Chafin Newton, 62, of Ravenel, wife of John E. Newton, died Sunday morning at her residence.

Mrs. Newton was born on September 25, 1939 in St. Paul, Virginia, a daughter of the late Albert E. Chafin and Grace Little Chafin. She attended schools in Virginia. She was a homemaker an a member of First Baptist Church of Ravenel.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Scotty W. Rynes and his wife Denlece of Moncks Corner, Jack B. Rynes and his wife Jodi of West Ashley; one daughter, Teresa N. Brown of Charleston; four grandchildren, Amy K. Seffens of Ravenel, Price Rynes of Moncks Corner, Mark A. Rynes of West Ashley, Lorin M. Rynes of West Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Seffens of Ravenel, Colby Kamph of Moncks Corner; three sisters, Anne Couch of Lebanon, VA, Ethel Bryant of Bristol, VA, Jean Hall of Castlewood, VA; two brothers, Bernard Chafin of Castlewood, VA, Dewy Chafin of Roanoke, VA. She was predeceased by her sister, Frances Bryant.

Mrs. Gutowski was born October 26, 1922 in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late Herbert F. Blume and Agnes Hare Blume. Mrs. Gutowski was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and had retired from the Charleston Air Force Base in the Supply Department as a computer technician.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia G. Leopold of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her brother, William Blume of Charleston, SC; her sisters, Dorothy Laurey of Charleston, and Dell Kimball of North Charleston, SC.

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Saturday, August 31, 2002 in a Mount Pleasant nursing home, Leona Brunson Henderson, wife of the late Ernest L. Henderson. Mrs. Henderson was born September 14, 1905 in Awendaw, a daughter of Gamewell Mouzon Brunson and Ida Julia Jackson Brunson. Mrs. Henderson was a buyer for Kerrison's Department Store in the 1920's and 30's. She was a charter and life member of Milcah Temple No. 77, Daughters of the Nile, and a past member of the Eastern Star. She was a charter member of the Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church, Ehrhardt, a past member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, and a past member of St. James Methodist Church, Charleston, S.C.
She is survived by one son, Robert L. Henderson and his wife Carol of Folly Beach, S.C.; one daughter, Phyllis H. LaMacchia of Huger, S.C.; four grandchildren, Robert Lansing (Lance) Henderson II of Ravenel, S.C., Lisa Denise Henderson of Folly Beach, S.C., Katherine Armstrong Garrett and her husband Steve of Pauline, S.C; David Meakin Armstrong of New York; two great-grandsons, Jordan Charles Garrett and Caleb Henderson Garrett.
