The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brooks Ray, are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, Tuesday morning, November 12, 2002 at 11 o'clock. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Ray was born December 31, 1936 in Conway, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Ossie Derwood and Beulah Mae Skipper Sanders. Mrs. Sanders was a member of Summerville Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of Ladson, SC are her son, Reverend Rickey Joe Ray of Abingdon, VA; her half-sister, Susie Sanders of Wilmington, NC; her half-brothers: Ossie Derwood Sanders, Jr. of Leland, NC and Don Yockey of Kansas.
GEORGE, Larry
The relatives and friends of Mr. Larry W. George are invited to attend his Graveside Services in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens this Monday, November 11, 2002 at 1 o'clock. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL.

EDWARDS, Helen
GREEN POND: Mrs. Helen P. Edwards, 70, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002. She was born in Colleton County, a daughter of the late Tom and Ethel Pencile. She was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and graduated from Colleton High School.
The funeral will be 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 31, 2002, in Greater St. James Holiness Church, Walterboro. Burial will be in Pyne cemetery, Green Pond.
At an early age she joined Jerusalem A.M.E. Church and later became a member of St. Mary A.M.E. Church. She attended New Covenant Fellowship Ministries of Green Pond. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the S.C. Conference Ministers Wives and Widows Alliance. She was also a member of White Hall Chapter 132 Order of Eastern Star.
She was the widow of Rev. Ned I. Edwards, Sr., who pastored several A.M.E. Churches in South Carolina.
Survivors are: five sons, Jeremiah Edwards, Rev. Nathaniel Edwards, Freeman Edwards, Ned Edwards, Jr. and Reginald Edwards; three daughters, Min. Addie Parker, Mahalia Buckner and Min. Ida White; two brothers, Henry J. Pencile and Robert Pencile; two sisters, Alma Dare and Ethel McMillan; thirty-one grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

NEALS, Raymond
Raymond Allen Neals, 40, of 323 Huff Road, St. George, SC, died Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 31, 2002 at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church, St. George, SC with Dr. John H. Elliott, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by LING FUNERAL HOME OF ST. GEORGE (843) 563-3589.
Mr. Neals was born February 25, 1962 in the Shady Grove Community of Dorchester County, a son of Mrs. Daisy Dessasso Neals and the late Raymond Neals, Jr. He attended Williams Memorial High School and was a member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church. He was an employee of Mobile Home Movers of Moncks Corner.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Daisy D. Neals of St. George, SC; stepfather, Sammy Brown of St. George, SC; two sisters, Mrs. Darlene (Joseph) Williams and Mrs. Eartha (Sammy) Dillard, all of St. George, SC; one brother, Robert (Cynthia) Neals of St. George, SC; a grandmother, Mrs. Lucille Shuler Neals of Bowman, SC; a grandfather, Willie Neals of Charleston, SC; twelve aunts; six grandaunts; two uncles; three granduncles; and numerous other relatives.

Mrs. Peggy Frazier, 47, of James Island, SC, wife of Mr. Nathaniel Frazier; daughter of Mr. George and Mrs. Genevieve Lafayette of 2173 Shrimp Street, James Island, SC passes away Thursday, August 29, 2002. Friends may call at FIELDING HOME FOR FUNERALS, 722-3348 or 1-800-290-5954.
MOODY, Mae
BARNWELL, SC - Mrs. Mae L. Reason Moody, 91, widow of Mr. Cecil C. Moody, died Thursday, August 29, 2002 in the Barnwell County Hospital.
Mrs. Moody was born in Sinclair County, AL, a daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Jane Rich Reason. She was a homemaker, and a member of Hagood Ave. Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday in Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jesse Wilson and Rev. Ken Catoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Saturday evening at MOLE FUNERAL HOME OF BARNWELL, SC.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Doyle Livingston of Barnwell, Lynda and David Brown of Hanahan, and Sue Cox of North Charleston; three sisters, Ann Sharp of Americus, GA, Edna Hall of Hogansville, GA, and Eunice Bennett of Franklin, GA; eight grandchildren, Cynthia and Mark Griffitt, Melinda and Jesse Wilson, William Cox, Adrienne and Steve Burger, Michael and Debbie Cox, John Cox, Laura and Wes Fenters, and Brian Brown; and ten great-grandchildren.
SOLOMON, Israel
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of August 30, 2002, Israel Irving Solomon, husband of Fay Rephan Solomon. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Israel Irving Solomon are invited to attend the funeral services of the former at the graveside in Emanu-El cemetery, "Maryville, " Sunday at three o'clock.
Mr. Solomon was born September 29, 1922 in Charleston, SC, the son of Walter Solomon and Dora Fox Solomon. During WW II he served with the Army/Air Corps. He was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El. He was a partner with his brother, A. Melvin Solomon, in A.M. Solomon and Sons Furniture Company, located at 416 King Street until they closed in 1984, a business founded by his grandfather. After retiring as top salesman with Haverty's Furniture for 10 years, he worked with Low Country Furniture in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Mariner (Friendship) Lodge #2 AFM, and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #242.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; one daughter, Tamara S. Conner of Charleston, SC; one son, R. Jeremy Solomon of Tallahassee, FL; one brother, A. Melvin Solomon of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

BLAIN, Thomas
Entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2002, Thomas Tyrie Blain. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at eleven o'clock in Folly Beach Baptist Church.
Mr. Blain was born February 28, 1922 in Bloomfield, New Jersey, the son of Thomas Blain and Grace Urquhardt Blain. He was a member of Folly Beach Baptist Church. He retired from Continental Can Company after 25 years. He served in the US Navy during WW II and Korea.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Jennifer Blain Los of Cleveland, GA and Amy Elizabeth Blalock of Charleston, SC; one son, Thomas Ira Blain of Evansville, WI; seven grandchildren; and his former wife, Judith L. Tag of Greenwood, SC.
Memorials may be made to Folly Beach Baptist Church, 77 Center Street, Folly Beach, SC 29439.

WELCH, SR., Marshall
EHRHARDT, SC - Marshall "Buddy" Owens Welch, Sr., 70, of 325 Macedonia Church Road, Ehrhardt, SC, entered into eternal rest August 29, 2002 at his residence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services Sunday, September 1, 2002, at St. James United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM. The casket will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM. Rev. Kathy Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the Ehrhardt cemetery.
Born August 5, 1932 in Ehrhardt, SC, Mr. Welch was a son of the late Virgil Owens Welch and the late Louise Freeman Welch. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He graduated from Clemson University in 1956, and was a retired farmer and school teacher at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School. He was also involved in several other organizations, the Forestry Commission, Chairman of Soil Conservation Bamberg County, Past Lions Club member, member of Bamberg-Colleton County Young Farmers Association, Trustee of St. James United Methodist Church, and owner of Hungry Hill Hunting Club of Ehrhardt.
Surviving are his wife, Maxie Carter Welch; one daughter, Mary Louise and Robert Schriber of Springfield, VA; one son, William Virgil "Bill" and Connie Welch of Lewistown, PA; one daughter-in-law, Kim and Tommy Trantham of Ehrhardt, SC; 4 grandchildren, Owen C., Bradley C., M.O. "Trey" III, and Britney Welch; one niece; one nephew; one sister, Jackie W. Price of Denmark, SC. Mr. Welch was preceded in death by a son, M.O. Welch, Jr.
Visitation will be August 31, 2002, Saturday, from 6 - 8 PM at COONER FUNERAL HOME, Bamberg, SC. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church.
POLLARD, Warren
COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Mr. Warren Baxter Pollard, 69, of Columbia, will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 31, 2002, at Harmony Baptist Church. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Northeast with military honors. Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, Route 1, Elgin SC 29045.
Mr. Pollard died Wednesday, August 28, 2002. Born in Booneville, Mississippi, he was a son of the late Marcus Browning and Letha Carpenter Pollard. Mr. Pollard served 22 years in the U.S. Army where he received the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, 3 oak leaf clusters, the Vietnam Service Medal and a Campaign Medal. He was a mason for 38 years. Mr. Pollard was an ordained minister and had a ministry for 5 years at Tanglewood Nursing Home in Ridgeway; he was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Harmony Baptist Church. Mr. Pollard was a Real Estate Appraiser from 1972 until his passing. He was a devoted husband and father.
Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Vernona (Nona) Pollard of Columbia; son, Larry Warren Pollard of Blythewood; daughters, Nona Theresa Wilson of Asheville, NC and Donna Ellen Williamson of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, LCPL Benjamin, Gregory, and Lisa Covington, Kimberly and Steven Pollard; 1 great-grandchild, Maddisonne Covington; sisters, Varlene Heady of Lake Jackson, TX, Frankie Burks of Horn Lake, MS, Luvene Turner of Memphis, TN, Palma English and Wanda Gahagan, both of Booneville, MS, Mary Robinson of Rienzi, MS, and Joann Myrcle of Hernando, MS; brothers, Robert Pollard of Wichita Falls, TX, John Ray Pollard of Gonzales, LA, Dwayne Pollard of Booneville, MS. Mr. Pollard was predeceased by a sister, Noralee Ward and brothers, Derward Pollard, Sidney Pollard, and Q.D. Pollard.
