RYAN, Johnnie
ISLANDTON, SC - Johnnie Ree Murdaugh Ryan, 86, died Tuesday at the Hampton Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Rice Patch Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Dale Andrews. Interment will be in the church cemetery, directed by FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Ryan was born November 2, 1915 in Islandton, a daughter of the late John William Murdaugh and Lizzie Ellen Murdaugh. She was a member of Rice Patch Christian Church.
Surviving are two sons, James W. Ryan, Jr. of Columbia, William Jenning Ryan of Allendale; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Fred Parker Funeral Home.
HUTTON, Charles
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of August 26, 2002, Dr. Charles Frederick Hutton, husband of Madeline Hyett Hutton. Residence, Charleston, SC. All services will be private.
Dr. Hutton was born November 22, 1918 in Leeds, England, the son of Charles William Hutton and Elise Hallas Hutton. His education included Leeds University and Medical School in England and his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Guy's Hospital and Metropolitan Hospital, London. He served as a Surgeon Lieutenant with the British Royal Navy during World War II. His academic appointments included: Instructor to Radiological Technicians for M.S.R. Qualification, Instructor and Lecturer to Undergraduates and Postgraduates, Consultant Radiologist at Central Middlesex Hospital, London England (1955 -1965); Consultant Neuroradiologist at Ashford Hospital, England (1962 - 1965); Radiologist in Saskatchewan, Canada(1965 - 1968). He served as an Associate Professor of Radiology at The Medical College of Virginia during 1968 - 1970 and became a Professor of Radiology in 1970. He was appointed Vice Chairman, Division of Diagnostic Radiology in 1972 and retired in 1986 from The Medical College of Virginia. Among his Many honors, he was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and a distinguished clinician and researcher.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Dr. Martine Hutton of Charleston, SC, Dr. Nicola LoCascio of Huntington, West Virginia; four grandchildren, William and Claire Seabrook of Charleston, SC, and Adam and Gwyneth LoCascio of Huntington, West Virginia.

CAMMER, John
Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of August 26, 2002, John Robert Cammer, Sr., widower of Alice Faye Crosby Cammer. Residence, James Island, SC. Mr. Cammer was born May 21, 1941 in Charleston, SC, the son of Wilson Louis Cammer and Beulah Searcey Cammer. He was a graduate of Charleston High School. He was a US Army veteran. He served for 29 years as Sr. Captain and acting Battalion Chief with the City of Charleston Fire Department. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters Local # 61 and had formerly served as vice president, when the organization was formed. He was also a Mason.
He is survived by his father of Charleston, SC; two sons, John R. "Johnny" Cammer of Goose Creek, SC, William Cammer of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Wilson "Skip" Cammer and Henry Cammer, both of Charleston, SC; one sister, Sandra Stetson of Coral Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Christina Faye Flynt of James Island, SC, Megan Cammer, Amber Cammer, John R. Cammer, III, David Cammer, Stephen Cammer, all of Summerville, SC; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. His wife and daughter, Angela Renee Cammer, preceded him in death.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Lumberton, N.C., the daughter of Stephen Alvin Hester and Carrie Mae Carter Hester. She was a member of James Island Christian Church. She attended Anderson College. She was a Charleston business woman and a former kindergarten teacher.
Surviving are three daughters, Karey S. Sumner of Charleston, S.C., Elizabeth Ann S. Thompson of Aiken, S.C., and Barbara S. Howard of Augusta, Ga.; one son, Thomas Clark Sanders, III, of Aiken, S.C.; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

HANNA, Mattie
Mrs. Mattie Trowell Hanna, 82, widow of La Grande G. Hanna, Sr., died Tuesday in Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. Hanna was born in Walterboro, a daughter of the late Jonathan and Pretto Hiers Trowell. She was a Limestone College graduate having been a public school teacher, a DAR member, and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist where she served as choir director.
Survivors includes her son, La Grande G. "Buddy" Hanna, Jr., her daughter, Jane Hanna Murray, both of Charleston, her sister, Elizabeth T. Bryan of Sumter, five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2002, in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church with burial following in the United Baptist Church cemetery directed by MORRIS FUNERAL HOME of Hemingway. The Family will received friends from noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
EDWARDS, Doyle
Doyle Layne Edwards, 62, of Moncks Corner, a retired sales and accounting officer with Celanese Hoerst, died Sunday at his residence.
The funeral will at 3 PM, Thursday, at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. Burial will be private.
Mr. Edwards was born January 16, 1940 in Blairs, Virginia, a son of William Howard Edwards and Mildred Corbin Edwards. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner and a former officer of the March of Dimes. He was the widower of Laura Leland Edwards.
Surviving are his wife, Ramona Tull Edwards of Moncks Corner, two daughters, Catherine E. Kingston of Moncks Corner, Dawn Stewart of Rock Hill; 3 sons, Stephen R. Edwards of Moncks Corner, Steven Neal Edwards of Fort Collins, Colorado; Doyle Layne Bailey of Rock Hill, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

SMITH, Charles
Charles Ross Smith, 74, husband of Jean Smith of Mt. Pleasant died Monday, August 26, at his residence. Born in Chicago, Ill., to the late Bernard and Mildred Sims Smith. He served in W.W.II in the United States Navy. Mr. Smith was former owner and operator of Pacesetter Hairstylist in New Jersey, Salon East in Cape Cod, Mass., and De Leon Hairstylist in Charleston, S.C. He also worked at Linda's Hair Design in Charleston. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean of Mt. Pleasant, one son, Eric R. Smith and his wife Colleen of Walterboro, S.C., a daughter, Sharon Ishmael and her husband Jeff of Gaffney, S.C., and a half-brother, Jerome Smith of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Smith had six grandchildren that he enjoyed spending time with; they are, Morgan Ishmael, Aubrey Ishmael, Kelsey Ishmael, Joshua Smith, Shelby Smith, and Ellen Smith. The family will receive friends, 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
