Born March 31, 1918, in Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Owens was the daughter of the late Elias M. and Elizabeth Young Blanchard. She was the retired owner-operator of a Taxi service at the Charleston Air Force Base.
Surviving Mrs. Owens are a step-son, James E. Owens of Summerville; a sister, Faye B. Proctor of Charleston and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harvin departed this life on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at his residence in Lane, S.C.
He was born in Williamsburg County on December 31, 1947, a son of the late Mr. Theodore John Harvin, Sr. and Mrs. Merciner and Maxwell Harvin.
He was a graduate of Williamsburg Blakely High School and attended Allen University, Columbia, S.C.
Mr. Harvin was the owner of Harvin's Grooming Salon in Andrews, S.C. He was also a certified welder.
He served in the U.S. Armed Forces and fought in the Vietnam War.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Gladys M. Harvin of the home; four sons, Mr. Theodore M. Harvin, III (Latitia) and Mr. Dwayne Harvin (Fredreece) both of Lane, S.C., Mr. Valencia Harvin and Mr. Kevin Harvin both of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Ms. Rockell Harvin of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Mr. David Delane Harvin (Johnnie Mae) of Salters, S.C., Mr. Harry D. Harvin (Geraldine) and Mr. Shedrick Harvin (Rose Mary) both of Lane, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Hyratha Spriggs and Mrs. Geneva Stinnett both of Baltimore, Md., father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. Roland W. RAY, Sr., Joe
COLUMBUS, GA. - Joe Ray, Sr., 65, of 2209 Simmons Ave., Columbus, died Monday May 6, 2002 at the V.A. Hospital in Tuskegee, Ala.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Joshua Baptist Church in Charleston, S.C., with burial in the church cemetery, according to STRIFFLER-HAMBY MORTUARY MACON ROAD CHAPEL. Visitation will be held, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ray was born October 21, 1936 in Bamberg, S.C. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, with a distinguished career spanning over 30, in the Army and National Guard. He received the Silver Star and the Purple Heart for being wounded in action in Vietnam. Other awards include the Combat Infantry Badge and the Vietnamese Service Cross, and many other awards to numerous to name. He was an electrician, and was married
to the late Willie Mae Ray and preceded in death by a son, Joe Ray, Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Christin Ray and Vincent Ray of Columbus; five daughters, Oshawzale Jakes of Columbus, Marilyn Amato of Columbus, Elaine Click of Kentucky, Calasha Ray of Delaware, Tonicka Ray of Columbus, 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
