TISDALE, Richard
MCCLELLANVILLE - Richard Franklin Tisdale, 57, died Sunday, August 25, 2002, at the Medical University of S.C. Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Tisdale was born in Georgetown on February 2, 1945, a son of the late Ben Marlowe Tisdale and Vonnie Eaddy Tisdale Dawsey. He grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School. Mr. Tisdale attended Florence-Darlington Technical College and served in the Navy. He lived his adult life in McClellanville and was a member of the S.C. Shrimper's Association. Mr. Tisdale was a member of Eastbridge Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Georgia Whisenhunt Tisdale of McClellanville; two daughters, Joanna Teal Tisdale McClellan and Kathryn "Katie" Elizabeth Tisdale, both of McClellanville; and two brothers, Gerald L. Tisdale of Goose Creek and Robert E. Tisdale of Lugoff.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 28, 2002, at 2 o'clock at Eastbridge Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant. Officiating will be the Rev. Sam Joyner. Burial will follow at McClellanville United Methodist cemetery under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.

SMITH, William
William H. "Billy" Smith, 38, a tree cutter by trade, died Saturday, August 24, 2002 at his home in Charleston. Born September 17, 1963, in Charleston, he attended Bishop England High School. He was the son of the late Donald R. Smith, Sr., and Laura M. Smith, his mother, who survives him. He is also survived by two brothers, Donald R. Smith, Jr., and his wife SonDe, John Dewey Travis Smith; sister, Angela L. Smith, all of Charleston; three nephews, Donnie, Michael John, and Taylor. A genuine friend is rare in this world. Billy lived his short life that way and was unselfish in every respect. Billy did not have a lot to give, but he always gave his heart and his time, something we all take for granted. Billy's reward is how many people he helped in need and how many lives he touched. Billy was a friend to all. No right, no wrong, just friendship. Gene Glenn Collier, 64, of Summerville, widower of Laura Mildred James Collier, died Saturday morning, August 24, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 11 o'clock in Metro North Church, 109 Central Avenue, Goose Creek. Burial, with military honors, will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston.

Mr. Collier was born August 29, 1937 in Burlington, North Carolina, a son of the late Robert Glenn Collier and Lucille Cole Collier. he graduated from Trident Technical College. Mr. Collier was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a retired outside machinist with the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
Surviving are a son, Wayne Collier of Kingsland, GA; 3 daughters, Dee Jarrard and her husband Andrew of Lake City, FL, Tonya Thomas and her husband Joe of Goose Creek, Teresa Yergin and her husband Jimmy of McClellanville; 9 grandchildren, Samantha Telken of Summerville, Rachel and Nikki Collier of Summerville, Christopher, Tiffany, and Conner Jarrard of Lake City, FL, Rebekah and Ashton Thomas of Goose Creek, Sarah Yergin of McClellanville; one great-grandchild, Tristan Telken of Summerville; one brother, David E. Collier of Wilmington, NC. He was predeceased by a sister, Stephanie Fulcher.

Carl Otis Howell, 88, of Ravenel, husband of Mamie Lee Tumbleston Howell, died Saturday evening, August 24, 2002, in a Summerville rehabilitation center.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in Adams Run Baptist Church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Episcopal Church cemetery, Hollywood.

Mr. Howell was born November 16, 1913 in Lucedale, Mississippi, a son of the late Carl Sanford and Aletha Howell. He attended schools in Lucedale, Mississippi. Mr. Howell was a retired produce farmer. He was a member and former deacon of Adams Run Baptist Church and Jacksonboro Masonic Lodge 206 A.F.M.
Surviving are his wife of Ravenel, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie L. and Harold T. Dukes of Ravenel, Patricia Ann and Craig Cagle of Ravenel; nephew, Homer "Bo" Howell of Lucedale, Mississipi; cousin, John H. Howell of Lucedale, Mississippi; 6 grandchildren, Harold T. Dukes, Jr., Carl P. Dukes, Aletha Smoak, Leslie Tumbleston, Jimmy Ross Harvey, Kenneth Russell Harvey; 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Carl Howell, and a granddaughter, Diana Harvey Pittman.

REINERT, Stefan

Stefan Reinert was born in Rheinhausen, Germany, on March 27, 1960, the son of Dr. Klaus F. Reinert and Gertha Rappen Reinert. In 1969, the Reinert family moved to Charleston where his father later became plant manager of the Mobay/Bayer Bushy Park plant. Stefan graduated from Middleton High School and attended the College of Charleston. He went to Germany in 1978, earned a degree in automotive service and repair from Mercedes-Benz and returned to Charleston to become founding partner of Star Motor Service. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Stefan reached out to those around him, searching for friendship and meaning. He was liked for his cheerfulness, respected for his strengths, and loved for his tenderness and loyalty. Stefan will be sorely missed.
Surviving are his parents of Rhauderfehn, Germany; four sons, Brendan Reinert, Mare Reinert, Steven Reinert, and Ren Reinert, all of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Axel M. Reinert of Charleston, SC and Thomas M. Reinert of Neuhonrath, Germany.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Springfield Elementary School, c/o The Stefan A. Reinert Reading Fund, to help continue his tradition of introducing children to the joy of reading.
