MARQUET, William

Mr. Marquet was born January 29, 1943, in New Jersey, the son of Louis J. Marquet and Evelyn M. Hart. He was a US Navy Veteran and an active member and deacon of Eastbridge Presbyterian Church. Mr. Marquet was Operations Manager for Ceres Marine Terminals.
He is survived by his wife, Gail V. Marquet of Mount Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Sarah R. Marquet of Denver, CO and Rachel L. Kroll of Seattle, WA; one brother, Louis J. Marquet, Jr. of Collingswood, NJ and his mother, Evelyn M. Hart of Hammonton, NJ.

GRAINGER, Charles
NICHOLS, S.C. - Mr. Charles Douglas Grainger, 58, died Friday, August 23, 2002, at Loris Community Hospital after an illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, August 25, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Baptist Church cemetery, directed by COX-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME.
Mr. Grainger was born August 17, 1944, in Marion County, a son of the late Dolphus Mayberry Grainger and the late Essie Strickland Grainger. Mr. Grainger was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Grainger are two sisters, Marie Grainger Tobin of Nichols and Mt. Pleasant and Miriam Grainger Olsen of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.

KAMMER, Claude
Claude Lott Kammer, 92, of Isle of Palms, SC, died Friday at East Cooper Regional Medical Center. Kammer was born in Blackville, SC on October 13, 1909, a son of the late Nancy Elizabeth Lott Kammer and John Calhoun Kammer, Senior. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in geology. Kammer was a staff sergeant in the army during World War II from 1941-1945. A long time resident of Greenville, he worked as Director of Investigations for Liberty Life Insurance Company for 39 years before retiring in 1975. He was an avid piano and organ player, as well as former choir director for First Baptist Church of Blackville and First Baptist Church of Newberry.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Floride Martin Kammer, of 51 years, a daughter Nancy Kammer Price, a son, James Claude Kammer, and three grandchildren, Meredith Anne Price, Coker Nelson Price, III and Grace Martin Kammer, all of Isle of Palms, SC. The funeral service will be at Monday morning, in First United Methodist Church of Isle of Palms at 10:00 o’clock. Burial will follow at 3:00 o’clock, Monday in Blackville cemetery, Blackville, SC. WALTERBORO, SC - Mr. Clayton Lamar Smoak, Sr., 74, of 1446 Smoak Road died Friday at Oakwood Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday at the Chapel of the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Doctor's Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Smoak was born in Colleton County, a son of the late Carlyle Smoak and Lois Dewitt Smoak. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a retired carpenter, and a retired Calendar Room Operator for Asten-Hill Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Bedon Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Vergie Jones Smoak; sons, Edward Lamar Smoak of Elgin, William Smoak of Green Pond, Clayton Smoak, Jr. of Ridgeland, David Gaston Beach of Walterboro; daughters, Shirley Brown of Walterboro, Sandra Walker of Smoaks, Helen Priester of Ruffin; sisters, Mattie Mae Craven of Ladson, Lillian Varnadoe of Islandton; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kitty Strickland; a brother, Carlyle Smoak; 3 sisters, Adeline Benton, Helen Britt, and Mabel Lois Crosby; a grandson, Michael Smoak.

SPIGELMIRE, Heidi
Heidi Blank Spigelmire, 60, of Moncks Corner, a retired legal secretary with the United States Department of Justice, died Thursday at a North Charleston hospital.
The memorial mass will be at 7 PM, Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Moncks Corner. Burial, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, will be in Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Mrs. Spigelmire was born October 29, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Charles Blank and Tonttu Kahila Blank. Mrs. Spigelmire was a member of the Parish Council and Ladies Guild, St. Philip Benizi Catholic Community, Past Officer on Locale, Grande and Nationale levels of the La Societe de Femme, Forty and Eight, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lowcountry Chapter, 82nd Airborne Division Association.
Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Spigelmire, III of Moncks Corner; sister, Linda Kahila of Archer, Florida; niece, Tauna Murphy of Tampa, Florida; aunt, Carol Haba of Cape Coral, Florida; aunt and uncle, Harry and Violet Prah of Indianapolis, Indiana.
