ST. MATTHEWS, SC - James Lee Inabinet, 80, entered into eternal rest at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center Sunday, August 18, 2002. Residence, 106 Inabinet Road.
The friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral services Thursday, August 22, 2002, at 2:00 PM at St. Matthew's Parish Episcopal Church, with Rev. Patrick Allen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers, Kristopher Pedings, James P. Inabinet, Cleon Crider, Matthew Earley, Frankie Lindler, James Arant, Griffin Miller, and Herbert Crosby. Honorary Pallbearers, members of Islar Masonic Lodge #177.
Mr. Inabinet was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late James Ariel Inabinet and Fannie Pauline Ayers Inabinet. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Inabinet was a Past Master and member of Izlar Masonic Lodge #177. He was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Inabinet was also a member of St. Matthew's Parish Episcopal Church, where he was a former Sunday School superintendent and Junior Warden. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Inabinet was the widower of Margaret Linder Inabinet and predeceased by a son, Ariel Eugene "Gene" Inabinet.
Surviving Mr. Inabinet are: a son, Harold Lee Inabinet, Col. USMC Ret., Belleville, IL; daughters, Mrs. John E. (Jamie) Early, Lexington, Mrs. Michael (Melody) Pedings, St. Matthews; one brother, William D. Inabinet, Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Marie) Avant, Marion, Mrs. Mary I. Morgan, West Columbia; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home.

ASH, Carl
Chief Petty Officer Carl Lynn Ash, U.S. Navy (Ret.), 61, of Goose Creek, husband of Haruko A. Ash, died Sunday evening in a North Charleston hospital.
Memorial service will be held this evening at 7:30 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be private.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:30 o'clock until the hour of service this evening.

Mr. Ash was born on May 17, 1941, in Bakersfield, Calif., a son of the late Carl Vincent Ash, Jr., and Esther Ash Eslick. He attended Bakersfield Junior College in Bakersfield, Calif. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served from 1958-1981. He worked as a marine machinist with Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a diesel mechanic with Dyncorp Information Services, LLC.
Surviving are: his wife of Goose Creek, one daughter, Evelyn Ash Turner and her husband Rickie of North Charleston; one son, Christopher Lynn Ash and his wife Serena of Ladson; half-brother, Charles V. Ash of Bakersfield, Calif.

DUANE, SR., John
John Phillip Duane, Sr., 93, of Charleston, died Sunday, August 18, 2002, at a local nursing center. He was born in Charleston to the late Joseph H. and Mattie Murphy Duane. He attended Bishop-England High School and retired in 1973 from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Starney Duane and his son, John P. Duane, Jr. He is survived by two sons, Joseph P. Duane of Tampa, Fla., and Michael Duane of James Island, a daughter, Donna Duane Cervini of John's Island, two brothers, Walter V. Duane and Joseph Duane, a sister, Gertrude Duane Clark, all of Charleston, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Nativity Catholic Church, with interment in Holy Cross cemetery. Mrs. Rosamond A. Tallent, 73, of McClellandville, S.C., formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Monday, August 19, 2002, at a Mt. Pleasant hospital.
Graveside services will be 12 noon, Thursday, August 22, 2002, at Fort Bragg Post cemetery. Rev. Jeff Isenhour will officiate.

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Hazel Richards Carter, 85, of 199 Culver Ave., died Monday, at the Brian Center in Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, at Grace Advent Christian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Carter was born in North Carolina, a daughter of the late Abram Grant Richards and Lilly Gibbs Richards. She was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church in Walterboro, where she was a member of the Women's Home and Foreign Missions Society. She was the widow of Rev. Harry Thayer Carter, Sr.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Thayer and Hermione Carter of Columbia, a sister, Mildred Catterton of Ridgeland, two grandchildren, Carrie Elizabeth Tompkins and Harry Thayer Carter, III, and three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn, and Donovan.
BAZZLE, Brett
Brett Arthur Bazzle, 15, son of Bert Allan Bazzle and Lynn Williamson Bazzle of Summerville, SC died Sunday afternoon, August 18, 2002 at Duke University Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at Summerville Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2002 at 4:30 PM. Burial will be in Summerville cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, SC Chapter, 215 East Bay Street, Suite 205-B, Charleston, SC 29401.

OVERTON, Marian
PAWLEY'S ISLAND - Marian Blowe Overton, 75, died Monday, August 19, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Overton was born January 31, 1927, in Ahoskie, N.C., a daughter of the late Walter Frederick Blowe and Adelaide Futrell Blowe. She grew up in Ahoskie and graduated from Ahoskie High School. Mrs. Overton moved to Georgetown in the early 1950's and lived there until moving to Pawley's Island approximately 20 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Ruth Sunday School Class. Mrs. Overton was the widow of Lewis K. "Red" Overton.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah O. Herndon and her husband, James Martin Herndon and Gail O. Thompson and her husband, John Shepherd Thompson, all of Pawley's Island; a sister, Frances Blowe Marlin of Statesville, N.C.; a brother, Joseph Carroll Blowe of Greensboro, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Jason Mark Herndon, Justin Kyle Herndon, Katherine Gail Thompson, and Dorothy Louise Thompson, all of Pawley's Island.
Mrs. Overton was predeceased by a brother, Walter Thomas Blowe.
Funeral services will be at 4 o'clock on Thursday afternoon, August 22, 2002, at First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill and the Rev. Dr. J.M. Kirkland. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, August 21, 2002.

Mrs. Ramirez was born November 29, 1917, in Quakertown, Pa., the daughter of Leidy Mitman and Blanche Frey Mitman. She was a member of Circular Congregational Church. She retired as a secretary from the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
She is survived by her husband of Charleston, S.C., and a brother, Willard Mitman of Quakertown, Pa.

Mrs. Riser was born in Bowman, SC, a daughter of the late John Emerson Weathers and Mary Ann Pendarvis Weathers. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was a member of Laura Weathers Missionary Society and a former member of the Enterprise Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Riser was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Carter "Doc" Riser, and a grandson, Thomas C. (Tommy) Riser, III.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas C. (Peggy) Riser of Bowman, SC, John W. "Bill" (Peggy) Riser of West Columbia, SC; daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Crystal R.
