UHRICH, Andy
Andrew M. Uhrich, 81, of 659 Levee Drive, died Monday August 12, 2002. Mr. Uhrich was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and a military veteran who served through World War 11, Korea and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1963 and Charleston Naval Weapons Station in 1977. Mr. Uhrich is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Dickey Uhrich, two sons, Andrew Richard Uhrich of Moncks Corner, F. G. "Jerry" Uhrich of Berkeley County, a brother, Gibb Uhrich of Wales, North Dakota, four grandchildren, Kim Uhrich Schneider of North Charleston, Andrew Steven Uhrich of Moncks Corner, F. G. "Jerry Jr." Uhrich of Honolulu Hawaii, Allison Uhrich Johnson of Ladson, and 10 great-grandchildren.
All friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, August 15, at 5:00 pm in ST. Philip-Benizi Catholic Church on old highway 52 in Moncks Corner, SC.
BRITT, Rosa
ST. GEORGE - Mrs. Rosa Lee Hilton Britt, 74, of 116 Wood Bridge Road, St. George, S.C., wife of Charles Henry Britt, died Sunday at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2002, at the St. Mark Baptist Church, Texas Community, St. George, S.C., with the Rev. General Britt, officiating. Mrs. Britt was born September 13, 1927, in Manning, S.C., a daughter of the late Rasberry and Lillian Hilton. She was a very active member of the St. Mark Baptist Church where she served on the Gospel Choir, Willings Workers Club and the Pastor's Aid Board. She was joined in Holy Matrimony on September 23, 1950, to Charles Henry Britt in New York City.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Henry Britt of St. George, S.C., two daughters, Catthya Britt of Atlanta, Ga., and Michelle Britt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, Tyrone Charles (Sindy) Britt of St. George, S.C., and James (Gwen) Britt of Petersburg, Va.; three aunts, Maria Dukes of Allendale, S.C., Violet Tyson of Greensboro, N.C., and Elise Taylor of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one uncle, Fernan Hilton of California; 13 sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law, and five grandchildren.
The family hour will be held 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Wednesday evening at the St. Mark Baptist Church, Texas Community, St. George, S.C.

Mrs. Singleton was born December 17, 1893. She was 108 years old.

LANDERS, Sandra
Sandra Lee Landers, 52, of 1708 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston, died August 9, 2002.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Albert Lee Landers and the late Joycelyn Holliday Landers. She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and Greenville Technical College. She was a retired Dental Instructor with The Medical University of South Carolina and a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church, Charleston.
Surviving are her father and step-mother, Albert Lee and Vida Grubbs Landers of Greenville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Bob Barnett of Greenville, Barbara and Cliff Burch of Taylors; a step-brother, Thomas W. James of Korea; one half-brother, Ollin L. Landers of Lancaster.

Mr. Gelzer was born January 31, 1942 in Harleyville, SC, a son of the late Henry Gelzer, Sr. and Mrs. Marie Gelzer. He attended Kennedy High School of Harleyville, SC. He was employed for many years at the former Salisbury Brick Co., of Summerville.
Surviving are one daughter, Emma Delores Pinckney, of Dorchester, SC; devoted cousins, Albert "Penda" Berden, and Bertha L. Perry, both of Harleyville, SC. He is also survived by four grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother Gloria E. Rowe Belanger of John's Island, SC; father, Bobby Glenn Rowe and his wife Sharon of Richfield, NC; two sisters, Annette P. Kleskie of James Island, SC, and Wanda Gail Rowe of Salem, MA; grandmother, Jewell Evans of John's Island, SC; he was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Rowe.

HEWITT, Ann
Ann Turner Hewitt departed Monday, August 12, 2002. Daughter of Tilghman Benton Turner and Annie Ray Eichelberger, she was born May 2, 1914 in Birmingham, Alabama. Mrs. Hewitt was the widow of Batson Lawrence Hewitt.
Mrs. Hewitt graduated from Snead Seminary, a boarding school in the northern mountains of Alabama, and attended Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama. Mrs. Hewitt was a charter member of the D'D' Club, short for the Double Dozen, an organization of outstanding young ladies in the community. The Double Dozen group of selected girls served in many types of community service.
She was invited to join the Tri-Delta Sorority. Ann was a popular coed, and became active in the school choir. She sang over the Birmingham Radio Station and enjoyed many social graces. After her father's death, her mother took her to California where she enrolled in the Hallman Business College of Los Angeles.
In May of 1934 she married
the love of her life, Batson Lawrence Hewitt. At his untimely death, she became President and Chairman of the Board of his business, Hewitt Oil Company. She held the position until her son, Batson Hewitt, Jr. returned to Charleston.
