BREWER, Ronald
Ronald "Buddy" Brewer, 68, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at his residence. Born in Charleston, S.C. on December 7, 1933, he was the son of the late William George and Lucille Brooker Brady Brewer. Mr. Brewer was a transport driver and a former employee of Stuhr Funeral Home. He was a graduate of Bishop England High School and a member of Northwood Assembly Church in North Charleston. He was past president of the North Charleston Optimist Club. Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lillie Mae Kieber Brewer; five sons, Cary Brewer of Washington State, Ronald "Bud" Brewer of N. Charleston, S.C., Dale Kieber of Ladson, S.C., Dwayne Kieber, N. Charleston, S.C., Scott Kieber, Summerville, S.C.; three daughters, Karen Forbes, Bainbridge, GA, Carol Sheider, Norfolk, VA, Donna Davis, Charlotte, NC; one sister, Sharon Belding of Summerville, S.C.; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Memorial services will be held Friday, August 2, 2002 at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN CHAPEL at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 267 Calhoun Street, Charleston, S.C. 29401. MONTGOMERY, Harvey
ALLENDALE - Harvey O. Montgomery, 51, of 356 Christiana Estates in Allendale, died this weekend at his residence. Mr. Montgomery was born in York, S.C., February 25, 1951, a son of Juanita Clayton Montgomery, and the late Luther P. Montgomery. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a former Power Line Construction Worker with various electric companies. He was a Baptist.
Surviving, besides his mother of W. Columbia, are, three brothers, Tracy Montgomery, of W. Columbia, and Jerry and Terry Montgomery, both of Lexington; three sisters, Faye Boone, of Cayce, Sara Googe, of Allendale, and Wilma Spivack, of Alabama.
A memorial service will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home Of Allendale. The family will receive friends after the service. Doris Smith Waller, 76, of Cordesville, S.C., a retired mailroom supervisor for SODIV NAVFAVENGCOM, died Tuesday in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday morning, August 2, 2002, in the First Baptist Church, Cordesville. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Waller was born April 19, 1926, in Grays, S.C., a daughter of Alexander Hamilton Smith and Dona Faulk Smith. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Cordesville. She was a former employee of the Moncks Corner Wal-Mart and a member of AARP. She was a graduate of Grays High School.
Surviving are, a daughter, Colleen W. Nix of Hanahan; three sons, Carl H. Southard of N. Charleston, H. David Southard of Cordesville, and Dr. Charles W. Waller of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; a sister, Frances S. Cope of Grays; and two grandchildren, Alyson H. Waller and Kirstyn T. Waller.
MILLER, David
KINGSTREE - David Kelley Miller, 61, died Tuesday in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Miller was born in Kingstree, a son of the late Charles Edward Miller and Mrs. Minnie Spivey Miller. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Clemson University, with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. Mr. Miller was a retired farmer. In 1986, he, along with his brother, Jimmy, received the Farmer of the Year award in Williamsburg Co. He had served on the Board of Directors and as secretary of the Tri-County Cotton Growers Association and was involved in the development and success of Tri-County Cotton Gin. He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, a past president of the Kingstree Lions Club, the Kingstree Jaycees and the Kingstree Chamber of Commerce. An avid tennis player, he had coached the Williamsburg Academy Tennis Team.
Surviving are, his wife, Elizabeth (Bette) Hinson Miller, two daughters, Kelley M. Brinson of Pawleys Island and Kent M. Burrows of Kingstree, four grandsons, Cody and Jordan Burrows of Kingstree and Parker and Miller Brinson of Pawleys Island, three brothers, Charles E. Miller, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, Donald S. Miller of Homer, Alaska, and James S. Miller of Salters.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Thursday, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens, directed by WILLIAMSBURG FUNERAL HOME. Memorials may be made to St. Alban's Church or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, N. Canton, Ohio.
SPOONHEIM, Mary
Mary Bingham Spoonheim, 81, wife of Donald E. "Doc" Spoonheim of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., died Tuesday, at her residence. The funeral service will be Friday morning, August 2, 2002, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, at 10 o'clock. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Spoonheim was born in North Charleston, S.C., the daughter of Phillip E. and Della F. Bingham. She was a graduate of North Charleston High School. She was an avid bridge player and formerly active in La Sertoma Club of Mt. Pleasant. She was also active in St. Pauls and St. Barnabas Lutheran Church where she was a long time member.
Surviving are her husband of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., one son, Mark Spoonheim of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., one sister, Helen B. Gates of North Charleston, S.C., one brother, Paul O. Bingham of North Charleston, S.C., in-laws, Corrine Astrup and her husband, Len of Austin, Minn., Rev. Jay Spoonheim and his wife, Isa of Santa Fe, N.M., and numerous nieces and nephews.
