BARNES, Lilly B.

ANDERSON, Robert
COWARD - Mr. Robert L. "Jimmy" Anderson, 63, died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at his residence after an illness.
Mr. Anderson was born in Florence County, a son of the late James Wysong and Lizzie A. Anderson. He retired from Hyman Paper Company of Florence and was also a retired farmer. He was a member of Ariel Baptist Church, Past Master and member of Robert Burns Lodge #337 and the Omar Temple. He was a U. S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kay James Anderson of Coward; one son, Robert Scott Anderson of Florence; one sister, Virginia A. Sessoms of Springfield, VA.; and one brother, James Larry (Shelby) Anderson of Coward.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2002, in Ariel Baptist Church, Coward, with burial in the National cemetery, Florence.
Memorials may be made to: Ariel Baptist Church, P. O. Box 86, Coward, SC 29530; or to: Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29506.
The family will have visitation from 7:00 -- 9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

UPCHURCH, Lebeus
Entered into eternal rest the evening of May 5, 2002, Lebeus Eugene Upchurch. Residence, North Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Lebeus E. Upchurch are invited to attend his funeral services in First Christian Church, Thursday, May 9, 2002, at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Born September 19, 1927, in Clyattville, Ga., Mr. Upchurch was the son of Lebeus M. Upchurch and Willa T. Taylor Upchurch. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Upchurch was a member of First Christian Church of Charleston, where he was a Deacon and Trustee. He was also past President of the North Charleston Exchange Club and retired from Condon's Department Store, Human Resources Department.
Surviving Mr. Upchurch are his wife, Carolyn Atkins Upchurch of North Charleston; a daughter, Cassandra U. Johnson and husband, David Lee Johnson, both of N. Charleston; a brother, Lowell Upchurch of Clyatville, Ga.; two sisters, Sara Smith of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Margret Newton of Millen, Ga.; two grandsons, David E. Johnson and Johnathan L. Johnson, both of Charleston; four great-grandchildren, David, Cameron, Nathaniell and Cassandra.

BUNCH, Mary
Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Brady Bunch, 68, of Cayce, S.C., died Saturday, in a Columbia hospital.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m., this Monday evening, May 6, 2002, in the Church of God, Pineridge, S.C. Interment will be at 12 noon, Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in the New Hope United Methodist Church cemetery, Shulerville, S.C. Friends may call at the Church of God from 5 p.m. until the hour of service this Monday evening. Directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, S.C.
Mrs. Bunch was born October 27, 1933, in Tarboro, N.C., a daughter of Robert Brady and Alice Norman Brady. She attended the Church of God, Pineridge, S.C.
Surviving are, her husband, Legrand Bunch; five daughters, Alice Marsh of Lexington, Rebecca Elias and Cherylene Tilley, both of Gaston, Selina Morgan of Cayce, and Cynthia Evans of Georgetown; two sisters, Faye Miller of Virginia Beach, Va., and Peggy Cascell of Suffolk, Va.; a brother, James Brady of Princeton, W.Va.; and ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

WATSON, Jr., Robert
Robert E. "Rob" Watson, Jr., 28, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Pinopolis, S.C., a student at Louisiana State University pursuing his doctorate in Environmental Engineering, died Friday at his residence.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner with Dr. Hal West and Rev. Mickey White, officiating. Burial, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, will be in St. John's Baptist Church cemetery, Pinopolis.
Mr. Watson was born September 10, 1973 at Berkeley County, S.C., a son of Robert E. "Butch" Watson, Sr. and Betty Robuck Watson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he played baseball from 1992-1996. He was an avid sportsman.
Surviving are his wife, Erin Grindley Watson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; parents, Robert E. "Butch" Watson, Sr. and Betty Robuck Watson of Pinopolis; brother, Marty Watson of Columbia; two sisters, Erin W. Cohen of Mt. Pleasant, Jenny W. Watson of Pinopolis; grandmothers, Mrs. T.M. Watson of Pinopolis, Mrs. John F. Robuck of Moncks Corner.
Friends may call at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday evening. Memorials may be made to the Robert E. Watson, Jr. Scholarship Fund for Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

HUGER, Loretta
The relatives and friends of Mrs. Loretta W. Huger are invited to attend her Home-Going Service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2002 in the Evening of Prayer Church Of God In Christ, 2361 Spruill Avenue. Superintendent William A. Prioleau is the pastor. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for Mrs. Huger will be Monday, May 6, 2002 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. The Christian wake will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Huger is survived by her sons, Minister Darryl H. White (Norma) Mr. Kelvin M. Huger; her stepchildren, Mr. Melvin Holmes (Deloris), Mr. Richard Huger (Theresa), Minister Leonard Huger (JoAnne), Evangelist Ruby Wilson, Mr. James Louis Huger, Mr. Marion Huger, Jr. and Ms. Marie Payne; her grandchildren, Nyriesha L. Stewart and Lauren Taylor Prioleau; her sister, Mrs. Flora C. Bell (Edmund). She is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. SIMONS, Goodwyn
Goodwyn "Goody" Rhett Simons, 77, of Charleston, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at his residence.
He was born in Charleston ot Theodore Jervey and Helen Rhett Simons. He was a graduate of the High School of Charleston and attended Clemson University. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Goody was a member of the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul Church and a past member of the Carolina Yacht Club. He was retired from the Broad St. branch U.S. Post Office and was also a previous manager of the former Yacht Basin in Charleston. He was predeceased by his wife Pauline Snowden Simons in 1997. Goody is survived by a son, Goodwyn Rhett Simons, Jr., of Charleston and several nieces and nephews including Bill Bryan of Charleston. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, May 7th from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St. A graveside service will immediately follow at Magnolia cemetery beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. HINES, Cornelia
Departed this life on the afternoon of May 4, 2002, Mrs. Cornelia Yarbrough Hines, ages 91, of Charleston, S.C., died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community. She was born September 24, 1910, in Erwin, N.C., the daughter of Edwin Search and Cornelia Elliot Yarbrough. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Kennon Hines, IV. She was reared in Henderson and Durham, N.C., and graduated from Duke University in 1931. Married in 1940, she resided in New York City where she was active in community affairs and served as vice president of the Junior League of New York. In 1951, she and her family moved to Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, where she continued working for numerous volunteer organizations, including the Chattanooga Opera Association and the Hunter Museum of Art. In her 50's, she joined the staff of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and served for many years as the Director of Christian Education, retiring at the age of 80. In 1996, she moved to Charleston, S.C., to be near her daughter, Cornelia Hines Pelzer. At the time of her death, she was active in the community life at Bishop Gadsden and was a communicant of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America and the Junior League of Charleston. In addition to her daughter, Ms. Pelzer, she is survived by her twin sons, Richard Kennon Hines, V., and Edwin Yarbrough Hines, both of Atlanta, Ga.; her sister, Mary Yarbrough Brinkmeyer of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C. Private interment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery in Macon, Ga. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Pelzer, 68 South Battery, Charleston, S.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bishop Gadsden Residents Assistance Fund, 1 Gadsden Way, Charleston, S.C., 29412; Association for the Blind, 2209 Mechanic St., Charleston, S.C. 29405; Good Shepherd School, 211 Franklin Road, Lookout Mountain, Tenn. 37350.

ETHRIDGE, Talmas
ANDREWS - Talmas Elwood Ethridge, 67, owner of Tal's 41 Quik Stop, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the Andrews First Baptist Church. Burial with Military Rites will follow in the Piney Forest cemetery, directed by Andrews Chapel of MCKENZIE FUNERAL HOME.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2002, at the funeral home.
Mr. Ethridge was born March 29, 1935, in Sumter County, a son of Alton Ethridge and Gertrude Mitchum Ethridge. He was a retired tech Sergeant with the U.S. Airforce, where he received a number of commendations, former Lion's Club member, a member of the American Legion, and was a Baptist.
He is predeceased by a son, Gregory Dean Ethridge, and a brother Cecil Ethridge.
Surviving are, his wife, Patricia Barrineau Ethridge of Andrews; a son, Timothy Ethridge of Andrews; a daughter, Julie Ethridge Baylor of Andrews; four brothers, J. Franklin Ethridge of Andrews, Larry Ethridge of Georgetown, Carroll Ethridge of Summerville, Floyd Ethridge of Sumter; two sisters, Etheline E. Lightbody of Sumter, and Gail E. Connelly of Charleston; three grandchildren, Carly Baylor and Kevin Baylor of Andrews, and Kerri B. McKenzie of Hinesville, Ga.
