SMITH, Jr., John
GREENWOOD, S.C. - John Boyd (Cripple Smitty) Smith, Jr., age 74, of 305 Herndon Dr. died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in Greenwood.
He was born in Jonesville and was the son of the late John B. Smith, Sr. and Nanny Tweed Smith.
Mr. Smith was an owner-operator in the trucking industry, was a member of the V.F.W. in McCormick and was a W.W.II U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by a daughter, Dee Dee Hale of Rio Rico, Ariz.; a step-daughter, Gwen Holtzclaw of Greenwood; a brother, Irving Smith of Jonesville; two sisters, Avenelle Fannon and Dot Williams both of Jonesville; a grandson, Daniel Boyd Hale of Charleston.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Pinelawn Memory Gardens in Clinton.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Inez Crain Yarbrough of Edgewater Park died May 1, 2002 in Cookeville, Tenn., after a brief illness. She was the daughter of William E. Crain and Leota Haltom Crain, born in Hatfield, Ark. She attended public schools in Arkansas and Oklahoma including Arkansas A&M at Magnolia (now Southern State University).
Inez was an active member of John Wesley United Methodist Church for 55 years with participation in the C.E. Williams Class, the United Methodist Women, and the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wylie C. Yarbrough, (son), two-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Catherine Crain and several nieces and nephews.

Carol O'Connor Comery, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, April 30, at a local hospital.
She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., to William and Hilda Larsen O'Connor and was a graduate of New Dorp High School, also in Staten Island, N.Y. She was a realtor for Caldwell Banker Real Estate Co. in Montvale, N.J., for many years and was previously a legal secretary for the former Western Electric. She was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church. She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Vincent Comery, a loving daughter and son-in-law, Erin Comery and John Poretto of Mt. Pleasant, and a brother, William O'Connor of Staten Island, N.Y.
A visitation will be held at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT. Barbara Ann Joyner Rogers, 84, of Summerville, widow of William Sheppard Rogers, died Sunday in a local hospital.
A private graveside service will be held White Church cemetery, Summerville.

Mrs. Rogers was born on March 30, 1918, in Franklinton, N.C., a daughter of the late Joseph Drewry Joyner and Madge Edwards Joyner. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, receiving her masters degree in accounting. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa at the University of South Carolina. She was a member of Who's Who in American Business Women. She was a retired accountant and vice president with Colonial Life & Accidental Insurance Company. She was a member of Dorchester Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are, two sons, William S. Rogers, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Joseph Drewry Rogers of Strafford, Mo.; one daughter, Ann Moore of Charleston; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Chene Moore.

Thomas Raymond West, Jr. 40, of the Coastal Center, Summerville, died Wednesday in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be 4 PM Friday, May 3, 2002 at the Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Marcy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. West was born in Orangeburg a son of Mary Lois Ayers West and the late Thomas Raymond West.

CLINE, Sr., Nesbitt
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Nesbitt Querry Cline, Sr., age 89, of 614 Altamont Road, died May 1, 2002.
Born in Charlotte, N.C. on August 2, 1912, he was the son of the late David Gaillard Cline and Mattie Dukes Cline. At the age of eight years he went to Connie Maxwell Orphanage at Greenwood, S.C.
Mr. Cline was founder and President of The Cline Company, established in 1948. He was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in other capacities, a member of the William Wallace Bible Class, a member of the Exchange Club and Gideon's International North Camp. He served on the Advisory Board of Carolina First BB&T and North Greenville College. He was also a member of the Commerce Club, Green Valley Country Club and Poinsett Club. He helped organize and establish several associations through his philanthropic gifts.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Anne Martin Cline of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Nesbitt Querry and Joyce White Cline, Jr. and David Martin and Julie Burts Cline, both of Greenville; four grandsons, Glenn Martin Cline, Scott Nesbitt Cline, David Martin Cline, Jr. and Wade Spencer Cline; two great-grandchildren, William David Cline and Graham Nesbitt Cline; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 2:0 p.m. at Earle Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. James Wooten, the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Epting, the Rev. David Cline, Jr. and Mr. Don Kirkland officiating. Interment for the family will be in Springwood cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. at THE MACKEY MORTUARY, Century Drive.
