HOGAN, Georgia
Georgia Elizabeth "Betty" Hogan, 77, of Estill, S.C., passed away Friday, May 17, 2002, in Charlotte, N.C.
Mrs. Hogan is the daughter of the late Charles Strozier and Shelly Kea Strozier. She was born March 19, 1925, and was preceded in death by William K. Hogan and Amos B. White. Survivors include her sons, Robert T. White and wife, Ellen; Joseph B. White and wife, Nancy; Charles R. White; her daughter, Nancy W. Norris and husband, Michael; her grandchildren, Adam and Ricky White; Traci and Carrie White; Jason and Megan White; Kathleen, Michael and Kelin Norris; and Dolly, her dog and special companion.
After being graduated from high school in Milan, Ga., Betty moved to Savannah, Ga., and on to Daytona Beach, Fla., where she made her home until 1966 when she moved to Estill to be close to her brother, the late John M. Strozier. She made a career working for the South Carolina Department of Social Services until her retirement in 1988.
Betty loved gardening, helping others and her family. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humor and her generous and giving spirit. Not only will she be missed by her children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, but also by her many close friends where she made her life and home in Estill. As all of us were special to her, she and her strong, determined spirit will remain special in our lives.
Graveside services will be held, Sunday, May 19, at 3 p.m., in the Lawtonville cemetery near Estill, S.C., directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME.
Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Estill Presbyterian Church Social Hall.

CORVINO, Rose
Rose Catherine Corvino, 82, of Summerville, widow of Alphonse Frank Corvino, died Friday, May 10, 2002 in a local hospital.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 20, 2002 at 9 o'clock in St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Corvino was born on July 4, 1919 in New Haven, CT, a daughter of the late Antonio Ruocco and Caterina Dauria Ruocco. She was a graduate of schools in New Haven, CT. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church.
Surviving are: 2 sons, Gene Corvino of Summerville, Anthony Corvino of North Haven, CT, 6 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren.

HODGES, Luethel
SMOAKS - Luethel Mosley Hodges, 89, of Smoaks and widow of Israel Hodges, died Monday. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (today) in Lovely Hill Baptist Church, Smoaks. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Smoaks, SC and was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Mosley and Ollis Jenkins Mosley. She received her education in the public Schools of Colleton and Orangeburg Counties.
She was a member of Lovely Hill Baptist Church and served as an usher in the church and a member of the Missionary Society.
Surviving are, one sister, Ollie M. Hodges, two brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Hodges (Eva) and Ben Hodges (Mary), two sisters-in-law, Eloise Mason and Octavia Hudson, four god-daughters, Elease J. Williamson, Ethel M. Hodges, Aletta Reel, Aliyah C. Lou Salley.

Graveside services for J.D. Keith, age 84, who died May 16, will be held Saturday at 12:00 Noon, Magnolia cemetery, directed by NORTON FUNERAL HOME. Rev. Gary Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, 10:00-11:30 am at the funeral home.
Mr. Keith was born in Darlington Co., a son of the late Luther & Mamie Gilbert Keith, he was retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 50 years of service. He was a member of the Kelleytown Baptist Church and the Old Times Club.

Milton Lithco "Flippo" Atkins, Sr., 77, of Atkins Landing Lane, Moncks Corner, SC, founder and owner of Atkins Boat Landing, died Monday in a Summerville hospital.

Mr. Atkins was born January 27, 1925 in Vance, SC, a son of Thomas Lawton Atkins and Estelle Haddock Atkins. He served in the armed guard in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, John's Island, Berkeley Lodge #269 AFM, and the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Inez Muckenfuss Atkins, two daughters, Dawn A. Ware and Cathy A. Atkins, both of Moncks Corner; two sons, Milton L. "Butch" Atkins, Jr. of Moncks Corner, Larry Simpson of Goose Creek; four sisters, Noreen Meyer and Carolyn Upchurch, both of North Charleston, Marguerite Windham of Summerton and Evelyn Parrish of Burnsville, NC; two brothers, Henry V. "Stringbean" Atkins, Sr., and Jennings M. "Mack" Atkins, both of Moncks Corner; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Vera Fayard Nicholson, 75, wife of Theron D. Nicholson, died Friday, October 4, 2002. She was born Monday, January 17, 1927 in Gulfport, MS, the daughter of Jefferson and Louvine Gericivich Fayard. Mrs. Nicholson was a graduate of St. Thomas High School in Mississippi. She was a Past Matron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Loyalty Chapter 136, and avid card player, gardener, and was a volunteer at Blessed Sacrament School when her children attended. She never met a stranger. Surviving are her husband of North Charleston; two daughters, Brenda N. Polk of Hanahan, Sandra N. Williamson of Charleston; three sons, William G. Jones of Minot, ND, James L. Jones of Wadsworth, OH, and Harry N. Nicholson of Charleston; three sisters, Vivian F. Black of Mobile, AL, Teresa F. Behrens of Streator, IL, Helen F. Roland Edward "Skeeter" Bryant, 54, of Ravenel, husband of Brenda Craven Byrant, died Saturday evening at his residence.

Skeeter was born on April 27, 1948 in Charleston County, a son of James Ernest "Jim" Bryant of Ravenel and the late Lina Mae Inabinett Bryant. He was a graduate of St. Paul's High School. He was a member of the American Legion Post #179. He worked for 15 years in the Charleston Naval Shipyard Sail Loft and later worked for Inabinett's Remodeling. Skeeter was currently working as a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of North Charleston; his father of Ravenel; one son, Edward Bryant of Charleston; one daughter, Ashley Ann Bryant of North Charleston; one step-son, Robert Lamar Reynolds of North Charleston; one sister, Ann "Cookie" B. Weathers and her husband Gene or Reevesville; his first wife, Sarah Nettles Dupree of Charleston; two nephews, Bryan Weathers of Harleyville, Derek Weathers of Reevesville; several aunts and uncles.
