THOMPSON, Lee
Lee White Thompson, 94, of Hanahan, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of October 15, 2002, after a long illness.
A funeral service will be held, 2 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
Born on February 4, 1908, in Bonneau, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Arthur H. White and Nora Mitchum White.
Mrs. Thompson was retired from Garco Asbestos. She was a member of Free Will Baptist Church at Chapparal in Moncks Corner. Mrs. Thompson was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by a son, Goldsmith Thompson.
Survivors include, her daughter, Margaret Carter of Hanahan, grandson and wife, Charles G. Carter and Deborah of Goose Creek, a sister, Irma Hill, of Lebannon, S.C., four great-grandchildren, Ashley Carter, David Carter, Hunter Carter, and Haliegh Carter, all of Goose Creek.
The family will receive friends 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, S.C.

BREWER, Paul
HIGH POINT - Paul Vernon Brewer, 88, of Evergreens, N.C., formerly of Skeet Club Manor, High Point, N.C., died October 14, 2002, in High Point Regional Hospital, High Point, N.C. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Lakeview Memorial Park. Rev. David Horton will officiate.
Mr. Brewer was born August 10, 1914, to the late James Nathan and Mary Frances Bauguess Brewer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was employed with Sperry Univac for 35 years.
Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ron Moore, of Jamestown; son and daughter-in-law, James and Nancy Brewer, of Charleston, S.C.; brother, William Brewer, grandchildren, Jan Sapp, Amy Farina, Mark Moore, Warren Brewer, Wendy Sullivan, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

John Andrew Hoover, of Mount Pleasant, SC, husband of Sonia Gatter Hoover died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 in a local hospital. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Mr. Hoover was born in Altoona, PA the son of Allen and Margaret C. Hoover. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a US Navy Veteran of World War II. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Industrial Engineering and retired from University of Delaware as Director of Supporting Services.
Surviving are his wife of Mount Pleasant, SC; four sons, Michael N. Hoover of North Charleston, SC; John A. Hoover, Jr., of Newark, Delaware; Steven C. Hoover of Newark, Delaware and Bruce G. Hoover of Bloxom, VA; one daughter, Carol H. Balabushka of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Richard Hoover, of Altoona, PA and one sister, Dorothy Dawson of PA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
SWEZEY, Leon
SUMMERTON - Leon G. Swezey, 78, of 1075 Hickory Drive, Summerton, S.C., died at a Charleston area hospital, Wednesday, October 16, 2002. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME in St. George, S.C. The family will receive family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Mr. Swezey was born March 27, 1924, in Blue Point, Long Island, N.Y., a son of the late John Henry Swezey and Elsie Mabel Fish Swezey. He was a retired line foreman for the Long Island Lighting Company and an Army veteran of W.W.II where he received the Bronze Star for action in the Battle of the Bulge.
A member and former Chief of the Blue Point Fire Department and member of the IBEW Union. Surviving, his wife, Shirley Ritchie Swezey, Summerton, S.C., two sons, Donald Warren Swezey, Summerton, S.C., and Edward Robert Swezey, Englewood, Fla., two daughters, Karen Lee Siemen, Las Vegas, Nev., Barbara Shirley Kilthau, Blue Point, N.Y. A sister, Madeline Huber, Crisfield, Md., 14 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Surviving are four sons, Jack, Ivan, Sammy and Michael Hall, all of Maryland; three daughters, Shirley Graham and Becky Martin, both of South Carolina and Vera Liddick of Virginia; one brother, Billy Joe McGuire of Union, W.Va.; one sister, Dreama Lyle of Sandston, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
