RAY, Mary
Mary Brinson Ray, 85, widow of Clayton C. Ray of Ravenel, SC, died Friday, October 4, 2002. Mrs. Ray was born Sunday, September 23, 1917 in Berkeley County, SC, the daughter of John J. and Clinnie Anderson Brinson. She retired after 30 years of service to the American Tobacco Company. Mrs. Ray was an avid Bingo player, doll collector, and was unselfishly devoted to her family. She is survived by two daughters, Pat R. Hess and her husband Gene of Ravenel, Betty R. Monks and her husband David of Charleston; one son, Clayton G. Ray and his wife Zorada of San Marcos, TX; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Mary B. Ray are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Yonges Island. PRATT, Bertlee
Bertlee Sweat Pratt, 95, of Moncks Corner, SC, died Saturday morning in a local nursing home.
The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Monday morning, October 7, 2002, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will be in First Baptist Church cemetery, Cordesville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM this Sunday evening.
Mrs. Pratt was born February 1, 1907, in Orangeburg, SC, a daughter of Camelia Wilder Sweat. She is the widow of John Pratt. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, Macedonia.
Surviving are six daughters, Ornie Lee Hudghton of New Castle, Delaware, Rose Ann Brinson, Marie Thomas, Margaret Wyndham, and Patsy Van Allen, all of Moncks Corner, and Dorothy James of Crossville, TN; a son, Ernest Pratt of Goose Creek; and twenty-one grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
MULLINAX, Elmer
Elmer "Fudd" Mullinax, 51, retired custom home builder and owner of Mullinax Construction Company died Friday, October 4, 2002, at his residence in North Charleston. He is the son of Jessie K. Mullinax and Gladys Roach Mullinax of Greenville, S.C., who predeceased him. Mr. Mullinax was a Viet Nam Era Veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3137, Isle of Palms, S.C.
Mr. Mullinax leaves behind his loving family: his wife, Sara Jean Dickerson; two brothers, Earl Mullinax of Hollywood, S.C., and Harold Mullinax of Orange Park, Fla.; six sisters, Jane Wilderspin, Elsey Alexander, Myrtle Holloway, Lavada Drake, Louise Barbrey and Pat Carter, all of Greenville, S.C. His seventh sister, Sara Hudson of Greenville, S.C., predeceased him. He also leaves behind three step-children, Mery Mitchell of Goose Creek, S.C.; Jesse Berrigan of Hackettstown, N.J., and Jo Anna Berrigan of North Charleston, S.C., as well as three adoring grandchildren, J. Dustin Mitchell; Ana Leigh Barrigan and Joshua Barrigan, all of North Charleston, S.C.; and a multitude of nieces and nephews in Charleston and Greenville, S.C. He also leaves behind countless dear friends all over Charleston, S.C., and around the country.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 12, 2002, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 150 Wentworth St., Charleston, S.C. Family will receive relatives and friends after the service at 4772 Yardley Drive - Wando Woods, North Charleston, S.C.

MUNSCH, Donald
Colonel Donald T. Munsch, USAF Ret., 84, of 1816 Mallard Creek, died October 4, 2002, at Trident Medical Center, Charleston.
A native of South Dakota, a son of the late Theophil and Louise Benesch Munsch, he was a retired Colonel for the U.S. Ai Force during W.W.II, an air safety investigator for the Civil Aeronautics Board, and a graduate of the University of South Dakota.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Law Munsch of the home; a son, Don T. Munsch of Columbia; a sister, Dolly Larson and her husband Stanley of Vermillion, S.D.; two grandchildren, Winnie Jacob and Ted Munsch, both of Columbia; three great-grandchildren; also, dear friends, Ben and June Cox of Greer, Dora McDaniel, and Wayne and Cathy Gardner all of Griffin, Ga.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at Wood Memorial Park, with full Military Honors.
Visitation will be held after the service at the graveside. The families are at their respective homes.

SMITH, Eugene
Chief Master Sergeant Eugene Delmar "Gene" Smith USAF (Ret.), 80, of Summerville, husband of MaryJane Despins Smith, died Thursday evening in a North Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 2002, at 2 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial with Military Honors will be in Plantation Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 o'clock until the hour of service at 2 o'clock.

Mr. Smith was born February 21, 1922, in Battle Creek, Mich., a son of the late Clarence Smith and Myrtle Nutter Smith. He was a graduate of Michigan schools and attended the Community College of the Air Force. Chief Master Sergeant Smith served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Michigan National Bank as a mortgage consultant, and he also managed his mothers business known as Myrtle's Income Tax Service, purchasing her business a few years later. He also worked as a security guard for Radio Shack. He permanently retired in 1995. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a lifetime member and past president of Air Force Sergeant Association, Chapter 744.
Surviving are, his wife of Summerville; son, Stephen James Smith of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Debra Sue Smith of Melbourne, Fla.; step-daughter, Tamara Lynn Mills of Moncks Corner; step-son, Randy Mills of Moncks Corner; two grandchildren, Maghan Mueller and Tyler Mills of Moncks Corner; one sister, Twilla Johnson of Gun Lake, Mich.

Mr. Smith was a former member of the National Accounting Association. He was an active member of Midland Park United Methodist Church. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father.
Surviving are his wife of Hanahan, S.C.; two daughters, Katherine Smith Horton and her husband Thomas Horton, Jr., of Greenville, S.C., Lorraine Michele Smith of Hanahan, S.C., and one brother, Thomas C. and Mary Smith of Nashville, Tenn.

Mr. Studemeyer was born in Charleston, S.C., on January 13, 1953, the son of Clarence Studemeyer and Bonnie C. Lewis. He was a graduate of North Charleston High School and was a member of Pittman Street Baptist Church. He was a director of parts and repairs in auto sales.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. David Lewis of North Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Carolyn McGee of Aiken, S.C., and Michele Jones of Peire, S.D.; two nieces, Lisa McGee and Shannon Newberry.
