He was born January 15, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida a son of Ellen Ann (Susie) Huskes Millspaugh and the late Dr. Judson Albert Millspaugh. A graduate of St. George High School he attended Trident Technical College and was a retired employee of Mobay Chemical Company. Surviving are, 3 sons, Stephen Millspaugh, Benjamin Millspaugh, Jeremy Millspaugh, all of Albuquerque, NM. Mother, Susie H. Millspaugh, St. George, 3 sisters, Melissa M. Behling, Charleston, Melinda M. Valdez, and Kathryn M. Kimball, both of Summerville. 1 grandchild.
WALTZ, Asbury
Asbury L. Waltz, JR., of Yonges Island, SC, died September 22, 2002, at his residence after a long illness. Private funeral services were held on September 25 at Live Oak cemetery.
Born in Charleston, SC on February 13, 1936. Mr. Waltz was the son of the late Asbury L. Waltz, Sr., and Ermine Veronee. Mr. Waltz was retired form Charleston Doors and Windows. He was Catholic.
Survivors include eight children: Rochelle Blackburn and husband Jack of Charleston; Debbie Schwacke and husband Jimmy of Charleston; Asbury L. Waltz, 111 and wife Becky of Summerville; Darryl Waltz and wife Wanda of Summerville; Mark Waltz of Yonges Island; Cheryl Robertson and husband Les of Charleston; Marlene Warren and husband Michael of Goose Creek; Chad Waltz and wife Dina of Yonges Island; three sisters, Margaret Rowe of Summerville; Carolyn Knox of Summerville; Patsy Cooper of Lakeland, Florida; one brother, Frank Waltz of Greenville, SC, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. WILLIAMS, Lois
WALTERBORO - Lois Keels Williams, 95, widow of Thomas Montgomery Williams, died Wednesday at the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Bethel United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Lee Cothran and Rev. Eddie Bunton. Interment will be in Live Oak cemetery, directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Mrs. Williams was born February 11, 1907, in Sumter County, a daughter of the late William Archer Keels and Martha Baker Keels. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church since 1925, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International, Campbell Ashley Garden Club, county, state and national teacher organizations. She attended Columbia College and graduated from University of South Carolina. She attended Western Carolina University and taught there. She was a retired school teacher with Colleton County School District. She taught for 45 years, 1927-1972.
Surviving are, four grandsons, Sanders Aiken and Thomas Aiken, both of Florence, Dr. Steven Aiken of Socastee, and Dr. Thomas Williams of Crescent, Ga., a granddaughter, Rita Livingston of Charleston, and a number of nieces and nephews.

WRIGHT, Majel
Majel S. Wright, 82, of Farmington, N.M., passed away Saturday, September 28, 2002, at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Mrs. Wright was born January 13, 1920, in Aspermont, Texas, the daughter of William Franklin Stewart and Racheal Melisse (Anderson) Stewart.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol J. Edwards of Charleston, S.C.; one granddaughter, Seala E. Loy of West Virginia and a grandson, Corey L. Edwards of Tennessee, great-grandson, Zachary Loy of West Virginia. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her husband, Lennard H. Wright and son, Gary S. Wright.
Funeral services were held, Tuesday, October 1, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Farmington, Dr. Ed Meyers officiated. Burial followed at Memory Gardens cemetery in Farmington, N.M.

BAXTER, Paschal
Lt. Col. Paschal H. "Pat" Baxter, 73, of Hendersonville, NC died Thursday morning, October 3, 2002 in Elizabeth House after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born January 15, 1929 in Holly Hill, South Carolina. He attended the University of South Carolina where he played football. He served 22 years in the United States Air Force as a B-52 and C-141 pilot and served his country in the Vietnam War. The men who remembered him at Phu-Cat, Vietnam referred to him as "a friend to all Icons, " always willing to lend a helping hand.
After retiring as a Lt. Colonel, he received his degree at Auburn University and then spent several years in the teaching profession. In 1977, he and his wife, Virginia, moved to North Carolina where they formed many friendships. He was Town Manager at Seven Devils Resort near Boone and was a real estate agent for a while.
He was active in the church community wherever he lived. He had served as a deacon while in Banner Elk and also served in the Sunday School program. Most recently, he had served in this community as a VIP with the Sheriff's department. He was awarded a Special Deputy Plaque as the Volunteer of the Year, the first to receive this plaque.
Toward the end of his fight with cancer, he was heard asking himself, "What have I done for the Cause?" The answer is that his life was well lived and well spent in the name of many honorable pursuits serving one noble cause.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Abel Baxter of Hendersonville, NC; two daughters, Robin of Hendersonville and Denise Baxter-Yoder and her husband, Charles, of Lincolnton, NC; two brothers, Harry Morgan Baxter of Atlanta, Ga. and Maxcy Baxter and his wife, Joyce, of Walterboro, SC; and one sister, Anne Baxter Hudson and her husband, Jack, of Dallas, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, October 6, 2002 in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Skip Fendley of Hendersonville First Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn with military graveside rites conducted by the US Air Force and Hedrick-Rhodes VFW Post 5206.

GRAF, Carolyn Bailey
Mrs. Carolyn Bailey Graf, 52, wife of Robert Graf, passed away Tuesday evening, September 10, 2002, at her residence on the Isle of Palms. Born in Princeton, West Virginia on December 29, 1949, Mrs. Graf studied at the American College in Paris in 1970 and graduated the same year from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in French and Spanish. She married
Robert Gerald Graf on February 27, 1971, in Bluefield, West Virginia. Mrs. Graf served as secretary and treasurer of her parent’s clothing store, the Town ‘N Tweed Shop in Bluefield, West Virginia from 1971 to 1980 and then as founder and secretary for her and her husband’s businesses: American Mine Research, East River Metals, and Custom Manufacturing Services in Rocky Gap, Virginia and Princeton, West Virginia, respectively, from 1977 to 2002. While at the University of Tennessee, she was a member of Alpha Omega Pi Sorority. First a member of Bland Street United Methodist in Bluefield, West Virginia, she later joined the Church of the Holy Cross on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina.
A devoted mother and wife, she is survived by her husband, Robert, 56, two sons, David Gerald, 24, Richard William, 16, and her daughter, Cynthia Dean, 21. She will be forever remembered by family and friends for her kindness, selflessness and genteel nature.

HEMINGWAY - Linda Johnson Alford Port, 59, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Port was born in Georgetown on December 1, 1942, a daughter of Gladiola Miller Johnson Brandon and the late William Ed Johnson. She grew up in Georgetown and attended Palmer Business School. Mrs. Port was a former Georgetown County Probate and Family Court secretary, area director for "Welcome Wagon" and member and former Women's Chairman of the Georgetown County Farm Bureau. She was co-owner of the Gathering Place and Creative Catering. Mrs. Port was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was first married
to the late Bobby Alford.
Surviving, in addition to her mother of Georgetown, are, her husband, R.L. Port of Hemingway; a son, William Port and his wife Nichole of Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Kimberly Alford Radwick and her husband Scott of Marietta, Ga., and Cindy Alford Vestal and her husband John of Cary, N.C.; a brother, William F. Johnson of Georgetown; and a granddaughter, Caroline Michelle Radwick of Marieta.

SKARDON, Alvin
Alvin W. Skardon, of 937 Bowman Road, died October 2, 2002 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 5th at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul in Charleston. The Committal service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday in Live Oak cemetery, Walterboro, SC directed by THE FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Born December 4, 1912 in St. Francesville, La., he was the son of the late Reverend Alvin W. Skardon and the late Genevieve Hooper Skardon.
Dr. Skardon received his BA with honors from the College of Charleston and his MA and PhD from the University of Chicago. Urban history was his field of specialization and he was Professor of history at Youngstown University, visiting Professor of History at Louisiana State University and Visiting Instructor of History at the College of Charleston.
He was a member of the Organization of American Historians, Urban History Group, American Society of Church History, Southern Historical Association, American Historical Association and Past President of The Guild of Scholars. He was a member of the Episcopal Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul.
He served in the US Army and was captured by the German Forces during the Battle of the Bulge and was liberated by the Russians May 1945.
He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Wahtola Scheren and his two brothers, Ambrose Hooper Skardon and Stephen Lee Skardon.
He is survived by two step-children, Peter Scheren of Jupiter, Fl and Anne Fortin of Hartford, Conn., a sister, Genevieve Skardon White of Allendale, two brothers, Beverly Norton Skardon of Clemson and James Warren Skardon of Walterboro, 20 nieces and nephews and 32 great nieces and nephews also survive him.
