COLE, Freeman
Freeman Wayne Cole, 52, of North Charleston, died September 30, 2002, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2002, at 3 p.m., at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with inurnment to follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
Born December 10, 1949, in Charleston, Mr. Cole was the son of the late Grady W. Cole and Margaret Blake Byrd. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Mr. Cole was retired from Maersk, Inc. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a Green Beret and received several honors for his service. Mr. Cole was a Mason and a member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Barbara Litchfield Cole of North Charleston, oldest daughter, Lindsey Michelle Greene, and her husband Travis Greene, of North Charleston, youngest daughter, Melissa Anne Cole of North Charleston, older brother, Dennis Leach and wife Charlotte of Orlando, Fla., and twin brother, George Lane Cole, also two grandchildren, Alexander McKinley Greene and Alexis Michelle Greene.

Robert Leach Gouckenour, 84, of Summerville, husband of Joyce Biessenberger Gouckenour, died Sunday, September 29, 2002, at his residence.

Mr. Gouckenour was born on December 16, 1917, in Sullivan, Ind., a son of Robert K. Gouckenour and Grace Leach Gouckenour. He was a retired Electrical Engineer for Alumax. He was Roman Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce B. Gouckenour of Summerville; two daughters, Barbara Chaney of North Charleston, and Elizabeth Brashear of Summerville; two sons, William E. Gouckenour of West Virginia and Richard D. Gouckenour of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Eugene Gouckenour of Texas; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Nettie F. Tuck of Lexington, S.C.; two sons, O'Neal Flowers of Harleyville, S.C., and Glenn Flowers of Summerville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Monty Tuck.

Randolph DeLeon Baker, Sr., husband of Mary Mozelle Barfield Baker and son of Isla Cook Baker, died at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Baker were married
sixty years.
Mr. Baker was born in Lake City, South Carolina in 1917, son of the late Harvey E. Baker and IsLa Cook Baker. He retired from Riley-Stoker Boiler Co. and was a member of the Etiwan Lodge #95 A.F.M., Past Patron of Alhambra Chapter #60 O.E.S., and The First United Methodist Church on the Isle of Palms.
Surviving are his mother, Isla Cook Baker, and his wife, Mary Mozelle Barfield Baker. He is also survived by two daughters, Patricia B. Brown and her husband, Emory of Isle of Palms, SC; Betty Jean Milligan of North Charleston, SC; two sons, Randolph D. Baker, Jr., and his wife, Cathy of Durham, NC; and Tommy B. Baker and his wife, Victoria of Sullivans Island, SC; ten grandchildren, Larry A. Brown, Theresa A. Waddell, Randolph D. Baker, III, Allison M. Brown, Mary Catherine Chance, Tracy S. Hart, David G. Woolwine, Jr., Cassie D. Baker, Katie M. Baker, and Harrison S. Baker; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Baker Johnson of Burlington, Vermont.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Isle of Palms United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., Mount Pleasant Chapel Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock.

WALTERBORO - Mrs. Eva Bell Crosby Boodle, 85, of 8206 Ritter Road, died Monday, September 30, 2002, at the Colleton Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 3 o'clock, Wednesday, October 2, 2002, in the Jacksonboro Baptist Church with the Reverend Bob Craig and the Reverend Junior Ponds officiating. Interment, directed by the Brice W. Herndon And Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel, will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Boodle was born January 1, 1917, in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Perry and Lella Jordan Crosby. She was a member of the Walterboro Church of God and devoted her live to her home and family. She was the widow of Dolphus Boodle.
Surviving are, a son, Dolphus Jim Boodle of Ridgeville; four daughters, Stella B. Moore of Lake City, Ruby Doris Benton and Alice Marie Herndon of Walterboro, and Shirley Ann Rentz of Hollywood; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four half-sisters; and three half-brothers.

Asa Edens, 76, of Ontario, Calif., formerly of Alvin, S.C., died September 25, 2002, at Cedar Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, Calif.
The graveside funeral service will be at 1:45 p.m., Thursday, at Riverside National cemetery, Riverside, California, according to RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, MONCKS CORNER.
Mr. Edens was born December 22, 1925, in Alvin, S.C., a son of Charles S. Edens and Isabelle Wyndham Edens. He retired in 1988 after 39 years as a senior representative for the Army Missile Command at General Dynamics. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1951 with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces serving from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of Toastmasters International. He was a resident of Ontario, Calif., for 38 years.
Surviving are his wife, Janine D. Edens of Ontario, Calif.; two daughters, Cecile Fessenden and Karine Olsen, both of Ontario, Calif.; son, Glenn T. Edens of Ontario, Calif.; sister, Sarah Edens Walsh of Pinopolis, S.C.; three grandchildren, Brandon, Blake, and Bryant Fessenden.
