THOMPSON, Ervin
KINGSTREE, SC - Ervin Thompson, Sr., 69, of Kingstree and Myrtle Beach, died Monday at his home.
Born in Wampee, SC, he was a son of the late Hezekiah Elmore Thompson and Dora Skipper Thompson. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic University in 1951 and served in the US Army as a missile commandant from 1952 to 1956. He was the national market director for Mobil Chemical Co. from 1968 to 1981. From 1981 until his retirement in 1998, he was the owner and president of Martin, Thompson, and Wilkinson Business Brokers in Myrtle Beach. Mr. Thompson served as District Governor of the Lions Club from 1963 - 1964. He was a member and former Deacon of Kingstree First Baptist Church, and was a charter founder of Williamsburg Academy in Kingstree.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Joan Baker Thompson of Kingstree; 2 sons, H. Ervin (Ki) Thompson, Jr. of Murrells Inlet, Dr. D. Christopher Thompson of Richmond, VA; daughter-in-law, Carol B. Thompson; step grandson, Landen Murray, both of Murrells Inlet; a brother, Thomas A. Thompson of Fair Bluff, NC; and a sister, Sara Beth Thompson O'Quinn of Kingstree.
Funeral services will be at 3 PM Thursday in Kingstree First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Williamsburg cemetery, directed by WILLIAMSBURG FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at home. Memorials may be made to Kingstree First Baptist Church, Williamsburg Presbyterian Church or the National Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
JARRELL, Annie
Mrs. Annie Chesser Jarrell, 86, of 1977 Bamberg Highway, Hampton, died Monday afternoon at her residence after a brief illness.
Mrs. Jarrell was born in Hampton County, August 1, 1916. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hampton Primitive Baptist Church. She was the widow of W. C. "Clyde" Jarrell.
Surviving are four sons, George E. "Sonny" Jarrell, Jacob L. "Tuda" Jarrell, Clyde "Nig" Jarrell, all of Hampton, William F. Jarrell of Theodore, Alabama; one daughter, Linda J. Shaffer of Hampton; five sisters, Addie Mae Gooding, Betty Freeman, Kate Cook, all of Hampton, Ruth Rivers of Walterboro, Marie Crider of Cope; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be 4 PM Thursday in the Johnson-St. Paul cemetery in Hampton, conducted by Elder Robert Dobson, Elder Terrell Harvey, and Rev. Jimmy Dobson, and directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON. Friends may call at the chapel in Hampton from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, and Thursday until 3 PM when the casket will be placed in the Hampton Primitive Baptist Church prior to services, at the cemetery.

CORDELL, Floree
ANDERSON - Floree Elizabeth Taylor Cordell, 84, of 51 Lyons Street, died Monday, May13, 2002, at her home.
Born in Durham, N.C., she was a retired textile employee with Orr-Lyons Plant, and was a member of Orrville Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Patricia C. Ham of Charleston and Sara C. "Boobie" Shedd of Anderson; one son, Donnie L. Cordell of the home; one sister, Olga Haywood, of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the widow of Arnold Hamm Cordell and the daughter of the late John Taylor and Lizzie Hellams Taylor Ballew. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Cordell.
Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park by Dr. Wendell Bannister. The body is at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The family is at the residence.

Sara Lee Baker, 55, wife of Robert Baker, of Awendaw, S.C., died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at her residence. Mrs. Baker was born in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Esther Abney Touchberry and the late Rev. Furman B. Touchberry. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. She attended the Baptist College of Charleston and Anderson College.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Baker of Awendaw, S.C., her mother, Esther A. Touchberry of Garden City, S.C., her son, Robert R. Baker, Jr., and his wife, Kristen Clair, and her daughter, Page Lee Baker Murphy and her husband, Jerimy, both of Charleston, S.C., her brother, Tim F. Touchberry of Summerville, S.C., her granddaughter, Sara Clair Baker and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Furman B. Touchberry, her brother, Ricky Touchberry and a twin sister, Sandra Lou Touchberry.

TURNER, Donald

Mr. Turner was born in Baltimore, Md., the son of Irving Turner and Charlotte Turner. He was a retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class where he served in the 82 Airborne division. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a volunteer firefighter.
Surviving are his wife of Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Michelle Turner; and one grandson, Joshua Monteith, both of Bradenton, Fla.; one brother, William Turner of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Alice Buchanan of Southern Shores, N.C., Diane Howard of Baltimore, Md., and Dorothy Bosley of Calif.

WRIGHT, Randall

Mr. Wright was born March 13, 1916, in Lee County, Miss., the son of William Howard Wright and Laura Ethel Coggin Wright. He attended the Citadel and served with the U.S. Navy during W.W.II. He retired from the Sixth Naval District as a Communication Specialist. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston. He was a Boy Scout Master of Troop #3 for over 17 years; past president of the North Charleston Lions Club and was responsible for establishing the Lions Quest Program in 11 Charleston County Schools; Tennis Coach at the First Baptist Church School and co-owner of the West Ashley Racquet Club.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Jada Irene Ramsey of Charleston, S.C., and Dr. Rhonda Doris Wright of Montgomery, Ala.; three grandchildren, Jared C. Wright, Brooke J. Limehouse and Caroline M. Ramsey; three great-grandchildren, Courtney B. Limehouse, Jaycee N. Wright and Haley C. Limehouse.

STEVENSON, Frederick
Frederick Wilkerson Stevenson (Mr. Fred) died Monday evening, May 13, at his home on the Stono River. He was 84. Mr. Stevenson was born on June 23, 1917, in Charleston. He was the fourth of five sons of Thomas Calvin Stevenson and Nell Williams Stevenson.
He attended schools here and graduated from the College of Charleston where he was president of his ATO Fraternity. He was president of Concrete Products Company in Charleston for over 30 years and was a founder of the Carolinas Concrete Masonry Association. He was a life member of the Charleston Club, a member of the New England Society, the Carolina Yacht Club, the Partridge Creek Skeet Shooting Club, and a former president of Enston Homes for the elderly. He was a member and former elder of the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Stevenson served as an officer in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II on the Destroyer, Abbot.
He was married
to the late Mary Welch Stevenson and is survived by his son, Frederick Stevenson, Jr., and his wife Shelia Sky of Charleston, S.C., one daughter, Nell Stevenson Chastain and her husband Walter Ralph of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Stevenson Fairleigh, Bonnie Swinton Stevenson, Walter Cooper Chastain and Arrington Drake Chastain; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Fairleigh.
Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Magnolia cemetery on Friday, May 17, at 12 noon.

PAWLEY'S ISLAND - Constance "Connie" Moore Clemons, 83, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Clemmons was born in Charleston on May 5, 1919, a daughter of the late Samuel Martin Moore and Estelle de Hay Moore. She grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School. Mrs. Clemons lived in Andrews most of her life prior to moving to Pawley's Island 4 ½ years ago. Mrs. Clemons was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Anna-Hannah Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was the widow of Jackson Earl Clemons, Sr.
Surviving are a son, Jackson E. Clemons, Jr. of Pawley's Island; two daughters, Mona C. Talley and Carol C. Cooper, both of Pawley's Island; ten grandchildren, Martin E. Talley, Jr. of Longview, Wash., Lisa T. Hoggard of Colerain, N.C., Gina Cooper of Ballentine, Michael A. Talley, Christy C. Whitlock, Charles F. Cooper, Jr., Gary C. Cooper, J. Miles Clemons, Haley L. Clemons, and Anderson F. Clemons, all of Pawley's Island; ten great-grandchildren; and longtime friend Elaine Morris of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2002, at one o'clock in Pawley's Island Community Church Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Bob Barrows, the Rev. Clifford R. Gilmer, and the Rev. Dr. Steven M. Todd. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial cemetery under the direction of the Andrews Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.
