BROWN, Margaret
WALTERBORO - Margaret Edwards Brown, widow of Dr. George Carroll Brown, Jr., died May 13, 2002 at the Franke Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the graveside in Live Oak cemetery, conducted by Rev. Lee Cothran and directed by the Fred Parker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 7, 1908 in Batesburg, S.C., a daughter of the late Isaac and Eva Cartledge Edwards. She was a graduate of Winthrop College with a degree in Music Education. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was the organist for many years.
She is survived by a son, Carroll Brown, III of Walterboro, a daughter, Dr. Margaret B. Neville of Charleston, five grandchildren, George Brown, IV, Ferebee B. Ruffalo, David Neville, Carroll Neville and Helen N. Arsenault, a great-granddaughter, Jane Whaley Rogers and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Charity of one's choice.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.

MARTIN - Mr. Francis E. Peeples, husband of Eleanor McDonald Peeples, died Tuesday morning in University Hospital in Augusta. He was 82. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced later by SMITH-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME of Allendale.

Jane Aldine Nichols, 65, of Summerville, S.C. died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2002, at Bethany United Methodist Church - Spell Chapel at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in Boone Hill United Methodist Church cemetery. Miss Nichols was born i n Chauncy, Ga. on August 7, 1936, a daughter of Eddie Myers and Hulda McMichael Myers. She graduated from Winthrop College and was a retired first grade school teacher. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one stepbrother, Jack B. Myers of Dublin, Ga., one aunt, Sue Knight of Summerville, S.C., three nieces, LaTasha Lunt of Summerville, S.C., Pamela Carper of Renken, Ga., Denise Brown of Americus, Ga., one nephew, Bryan Myers of Americus, Ga. and numerous cousins.

James Robert Gould, 80, of Goose Creek, S.C., died Monday, May 13, 2002 at a local hospital.

COTTAGEVILLE - Mr. Willie D. Smith, 55, of 2748 Red Oak Road died Monday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Walterboro Church of God. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born in West Liberty, Kentucky, a son of the late Alonzo and Hannah Jones Smith. He was a sub-contractor and was a member of the Walterboro Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Barr Smith, sons, Rock McIlvain of Raleigh, N.C. and Willie A. Smith of Walterboro, 2 brothers, a sister, and 2 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday at the Walterboro Church of God from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Beech Island, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. Joseph W. Blackwood, 56, of Riverbend Drive, Beech Island, S.C., who died May 13, 2002, will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Rev. Heyward Horton officiating. Interment in Westview cemetery.
Mr. Blackwood was a lifelong resident of Beech Island, S.C. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and owner of Blackwood Auto Electric.
Survivors include his wife, Clydie Blackwood; three sons, Ronnie Blackwood and Christopher Blackwood, both of Beech Island, Everett Phelps, North Augusta; five daughters, Kelly Blackwood, Teresa Blackwood, and Jessie Blackwood all of Beech Island, Janet Payton, Aiken, Vickie Horne, Charleston, S.C.; mother, Doris Wilkins Blackwood, Beech Island; a brother, Thomas Blackwood, Jackson; a sister, Carolyn West Summerville, S.C.; ten grandchildren.
