COWART, Ladislas
Ladislas Elizabeth Kasperowski Cowart, 90, of Summerville, a retired secretary with Santee Cooper, died Sunday at a Summerville nursing home.
The graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Biggin cemetery. Burial will be directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL.
Mrs. Cowart was born June 17, 1912, in New York City, New York, a daughter of Paul and Helen Kasperowski. She was a Presbyterian. She was the widow of John O. Cowart.
Surviving are a son, Raymond N. Cowart of Moncks Corner; daughter, Linda C. Marks of Summerville; two granddaughters, Lacey E. Joy of London, England; Emily A. Marks of Summerville.

SPOLARICH, Steve
Steve Spolarich, 80, of Moncks Corner, a retired surveying assistant with the South Carolina Highway Department, died Sunday, at a North Charleston hospital.
Friends are invited to celebrate the life of this kind, gentle, and generous man at his Memorial Service at Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, Tuesday afternoon, September 24, 2002, at 2 o'clock. A private burial, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, will be held at a later date.
Mr. Spolarich was born January 3, 1922, in Zeigler, Ill., a son of Alex Spolarich and Mary Volf Spolarich Boyt. He attended schools in Illinois and other states, as his family traveled in the timber industry as barrel makers and worked in the forests throughout the southern United States. He served in the European Theater in the U.S. Army 7th Infantry during World War II from 1943 through 1945. Mr. Spolarich earned an EAMET Campaign Medal with three bronze stars and a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Italy. He retired from the South Carolina Highway Department in 1976 after 26 years of service.
Surviving are his brother, Albert Boyt, Jr., of Pinopolis; three nieces, Linda Volf Byars of Irmo; Nona Beach Moore of Moncks Corner; Jennifer Boyt Abbott of Lexington; three nephews, L.F. (Butch) Volf, Jr., of Moncks Corner; John T. Boyt of Sumter; James A. Boyt of Blythewood; five great-nieces and five great-nephews.
Arrangements by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, MONCKS CORNER. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, until the time of service or immediately following the service. Mr. Spolarich was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Leon Volf and a sister, Helen Spolarich Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Moncks Corner First Baptist Church's Senior Adult Lunch Program, at 112 East Main St., Moncks Corner, S.C. 29461, where Mr. Spolarich was a faithful participant for the past 17 years.

Mrs. Mary Lou Summers, 73, of St. George, S.C., died Thursday at her residence. The funeral will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, in Bethel A.M.E. Church. Burial, directed by BROWN & SON FUNERAL HOME, will be in New Hope A.M.E. cemetery.
Mrs. Summers was born in St. George, S.C., a daughter of the late Elliott Haynes and Edna Lewis Haynes. She was a member of New Hope A.M.E. Church. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Stewardess Board and Usher Board. She was married
to Mr. Wilmer Summers.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. Wilmer Summers of the home; two sons, Johnnie Lee (Navey) Summers, Daytona Beach, Fla., Wilmer H. (Roszetta) Summers, St. George, three daughters, Linda Johnson Mazella L. (Paul) Berry and Edna F. Summers, all of St. George, S.C., three sisters, Helen Jackson, Charleston, S.C., Bernie Mack and Bertie M. Patrick, both of St. George, S.C., 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Col. Cole was born in Stowe, mass., the son of Fredrick Eugene Cole, Jr., and Olive Evangeline Carroll. Col. Cole joined the Air Force as an airman basic and retired as a full Colonel. He was a command pilot with over 8000 hours of flight time and he was a graduate of Park College and Air War College.
Surviving are his wife of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Douglas Mayo Cole of Murray, Ky.; a daughter, Julie Cole Jallad of Apex, N.C.; grandchildren, Alex Cole, Amy Cole, Selena Jallad, Diala Jallad; one brother, Dr. C. Vernon Cole of Estes Park, Colo.; one sister, Barbara Cole Peek of Westminster, Md. Col. Cole was preceded in death by his son, Michael Spaulding Cole who passed away July 24, 1996.

WENGER, William

Mr. Wenger died Saturday, September 21, 2002. Born in Duluth, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Harry S. and Agnes LaFortune Wenger. Mr. Wenger was a World War II Navy Veteran and a resident for 50 years in White Rock and Lake Murray areas and was very active in community associations. He retired from Aeromotor Systems and worked in real estate in the Lake Murray and Columbia areas and was a former member of the Lake Murray Sailing Club.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Cox Wenger of White Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Diane L. and Joseph R. Farmer; sister-in-law, Constance S. Wenger of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Joseph R. Farmer, II and Drew David Farmer and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Wenger was preceded in death by a brother, Harry S. (Jack) Wenger and a sister, Betty Wenger Atkins.

COOK, James
ANDREWS, SC - James Darrell Cook, 27, died Sunday, September 22, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Cook was born in Georgetown, SC, a son of Juanita Cook and Benny Cook. He was a Grader with the Sanpit Lumber Co. of International Paper Co., of the Holiness Faith and was a graduate of Andrews High School.
Surviving are his mother, Juanita Cook; father, Benny Cook; daughter, Morgan Kathleen Cook of Andrews; grandmothers, Estelle Coker and Ailene Cook, both of Andrews; special grandmother, Mary Alice Michau.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by two grandfathers, John Coker and Rev. William B. Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday in the Williamsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by MORRIS FUNERAL HOME OF HEMINGWAY, will be in the Antioch cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Williamsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church Monday.
