The relatives and friends of MRs. Helen Marie Coley are invited to attend her funeral services on Tuesday September 24, 2002, 12:00 noon at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church 1190 King Street Charleston, SC. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Coley is survives by one daughter Mrs. Dorothy M. Geter. Five sons Mr. Robert Coley (Susan), Mr. William L Coley (Tee), Mr. James L. Coley (Norvell), Mr. Henry A. Coley (Olga) and Mr. Allen Coley (Dee). One daughter-in-law Mrs. Bennie Coley. Eighteen grandchildren, Fifteen great-grandchildren A host of nieces and nephews.

KEMPSON, Jennie
KINGSTREE - Mrs. Jennie Lee Pearce Kempson, 98, widow of Otis B. Kempson, died Sunday in a St. Stephen nursing facility.
Mrs. Kempson was born in 1904 in Florence County, a daughter of Mamie Oliver Pearce and Marsh Pearce. She attended Florence County Schools and was a homemaker and professional seamstress. Mrs. Kempson was a member of the Golden Years Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Harriette K. Ahrens of Charleston; one son, Harold (Zelene) Kepmson of Kingstree; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services, directed by WILLIAMSBURG FUNERAL HOME, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, at the graveside, in Williamsburg cemetery.
ESTELL, Doris

She was the beloved mother of Mrs. Doris Taylor of Goose Creek and Mr. Danny Williams of Arkansas; grandmother of Natasha Taylor and Marquida Taylor; daughter of Mrs. Willie Williams of Blytheville, AR; sister of Ora Williams and Lee Williams, both of Baton Rouge, LA, and Bernice Williams of Rochester, NY. HEMPFLING, James
James David Hempfling, 30, of Clarine Dr., Goose Creek, SC, an employee of St. James Place, died Saturday at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday morning, September 24, 2002 at the graveside in Riverview Memorial Park. Interment will follow. Directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER.
Mr. Hempfling was born July 6, 1972 in Germany, a son of Margarete Kaste Hempfling Rister. He was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are his stepfather, Charles Rister of Goose Creek; two sisters, Caroline Lane of Goose Creek and Marianne Pugh of Ladson; three brothers, Hans Jurgen Hempfling of Jedburg, Karl Hempfling of Greenville, and Charles Rister of Goose Creek; his grandparents, Joe and Carrie J. McKracken of Ridgeville.
CRAVEN, Earl
ORANGEBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA - Mr. Earl Craven, 63, of 132 South Circle Drive, Orangeburg, SC, died Saturday, September 21, 2002, at the Baptist Medical Center in Columbia, SC.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2002, at Columbia Road Church of God, with the casket placed in the church at 1:00 PM. Rev. Dwayne Strickland and Rev. L. F. Baldwin will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park cemetery.
Wayne Lorick, Roy Dale Dyzer, Ralph Craven, Ed Brant, Ronnie Jeffcoat, Danny Stillinger, Wayne Mills, and Walter Sligh will serve as pallbearers. The Florence Holub's Sanctuary Class of Columbia Road Church of God will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Craven was born February 8, 1939 in Orangeburg, a son of Zella Mills Craven and the late Murray Craven. He was a member of the Columbia Road Church of God and a member of the Florence Holub's Sanctuary Class. He graduated from Orangeburg High School and 4 years apprentice school at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, schools in California and New York. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was working for Tri-Star Engineering, Inc. in Bedford, Indiana. On September 12, 1980 he received a Presidential Letter of Commendation from President Jimmy Carter for his substantial contribution to more efficient government operations.
Family may call at the residence, 132 South Circle Drive, Orangeburg, and Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg, SC. Visitation will be 7:00 - 9:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2002 at THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Judy Craven of Orangeburg; mother, Zella Mills Craven of Orangeburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Craven Lyons and Everett Lyons, both of Orangeburg; three sons, Michael Earl Craven and Patti Cooper of Orangeburg, Richard Wayne Craven and daughter-in-law, Michelle Craven of Orangeburg, Ronald Murray Craven and daughter-in-law, Tammy Craven, both of Cordova; two brothers, John Fletcher Craven of Lexington and Jerry Myer Craven of Cordova; five grandchildren, Rick Craven, Anisty Craven, Lindsey Lyons, Rachel Craven, all of Orangeburg, and Cassidy Craven of Cordova.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or to a charity of one's choice.
MURRAY, Ruth
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of September 21, 2002, Ruth M. Murray, widow of James Scott Murray. Residence, Johns Island, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Murray are invited to attend her funeral services in First Baptist Church of Johns Island, Tuesday morning, September 24, 2002, at 11 o'clock. Interment, Mt. Olivet Baptist Church cemetery Hwy. 6, Cross, S.C. Friends may call at J. Henry Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, Monday evening, from 6 until 8 o'clock.
Mrs. Murray was born in Ladson, S.C., the daughter of Phillip Oliver Brooks and Mattie Austin Brooks. She was a retired housekeeper at the Mt. Vernon Hotel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johns Island.
Surviving are two daughters, Rulaney M. Reynolds and husband Warren. Teresa M. Coste and husband Jervey all of Johns Island, S.C. She leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, on Tuesday morning, September 24, 2002, at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will be private.
Melissa was born March 6, 1981, in Royal Oak, Mich., the daughter of David Charles Miller of Gibraltar, Mich., and Randi Wilkinson Miller of North Charleston, S.C. She worked in the restaurant business as a waitress. She was a Presbyterian.
Surviving are her parents, two daughters, Hailey Lindquist and Daylynne Babb of Charleston, S.C., two brothers, Matthew Miller of Charleston, S.C., and Christopher Miller of Dearborn, Mich., maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Judy and Walter Parshley of North Charleston, S.C., paternal grandparents Creed and Esther Miller of Novi, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Education Trust for her two children, c/o 8625 Bentwood Drive, North Charleston, S.C. 29406.
