DOBSON, Marie
Marie Catherine Dobson, 76, died Saturday, September 21, 2002, at her home in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Born June 11, 1926, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Dewey Francis Mollomo and Alice Mary Mollomo (nee Cusick). She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Regis College, Weston, Mass., and worked for many years in cancer research. The director of her laboratory at the University of Chicago was later awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine. Mrs. Dobson was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church and Snee Farm Country Club. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Richard L. Dobson; son, Richard L. Dobson, Jr., Burke, Va.; two daughters, Pamela Blair Hoyt and Lisa Marie Craven, both of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, Dewey Francis Mollomo, Jr., and Paul Richard Mollomo; four sisters, Catherine Elaine Staniunas, Corrine Jane LaRoche, Claudia Joan Galluzzo, and Natalie Shaw; and four granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2002, at Christ Our King Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Nancy Wittel Deddish, 60, of James Island, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2002, after a brief battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held in celebration of Nancy's life on Sunday, September 29, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Harbor View Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to attend. A lifelong educator with a love of learning, Nancy was a graduate of East Orange High School, East Orange, New Jersey, Denison University in Newport, R.I., with a degree in French, and Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I., with a Master's Degree. She was most recently a French teacher with North Charleston High School. She was an active member of the Harbor View Presbyterian Church, the American Association of Teachers of French, and a former member of the Alliance Francaise. Nancy loved to travel, to read, to knit, and to spend time with her family and friends. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Surviving her is her husband of 36 years, Capt. Michael R. Floyd Everett Judy, 47, of Summerville, husband of Carmen Angeles Danila Judy, died Saturday morning in a Charleston hospital.

Mr. Judy was born on December 26, 1954, in Charleston, S.C., a son of the late Elbert Keith Judy and Mary Evelyn Charpia Judy. He was a graduate of Stall High School. He was the owner of Floyd's Plumbing. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Goose Creek.

Miss Butler was born May 5, 1933, in Gaffney, S.C., the daughter of Paul B. Butler and Jean Jackson Butler. She was a graduate of North Charleston High School and Lander College. She received her Masters Degree from the University of South Carolina. She retired as program coordinator with the Charleston County Department of Social Services. She was a member of the Charleston Chapter of S.C. State Retirees. Miss Butler was a charter member of Cooper River Baptist Church.
Surviving are two nieces, Pamela S. Hardin and Tammy B. Mitchum of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and one nephew, James Rhett Butler of Summerville, S.C., three great-nieces, three great-nephews and two great-great-nephews.

FLORENCE, SC - Connie Johnson Garris, 78, of 2125 Twin Bridge Drive, Florence, SC, died early Saturday morning, September 21, 2002, in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Garris was born in New Zion, SC, a daughter of the late Harper and Alice Evans Johnson. She was a member of Florence Baptist Temple.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Baxter Garris, who died in 1980.
Surviving are 3 sons, Frank (Linda) Garris, Mike (Diane) Garris, all of Florence, SC, and Jeff Garris of Atlanta, GA; 1 brother, Lory M. Johnson of Sumter, SC; 1 sister, Mildred J.
