GREEN, Estelle
YEMASSEE - Estelle Green, 81, died Sunday, September 15, 2002.
The funeral will be on Saturday, September 22, 2002 at 2:00 PM in Jerusalem AME Church, White Hall Community. Burial will be in White Hall cemetery.
Mrs. Green was born and educated in Colleton County. She was a member of Jerusalem AME Church where she served on the steward board.
Survivors are three daughters, Blanch Battle and Sandra Fields, both of Virginia and Donna Donaldson of South Carolina; one son, Earl Green of New Jersey; six sisters, Ida R. Brown, Ruby Bronner, Betty A. Carter, Janei Dillingham, Retha Wright and Ada Brown; six brothers, Franklin Gertrude, Sandy Gertrude, Solomon Gertrude, Lazarus Gertrude, Jack Gertrude, and Willie Barnett.

Mr. Simmons was born in Mount Pleasant, SC, a son of L. Hughes Simmons, Sr. and Ella Taylor Simmons. He was retired Owner of Moultrie Fisheries, Mt. Pleasant, SC and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was an Episcopalian, a Mason and Shriner.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia C. Simmons of Mount Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Dr. Robin S. Wagner of Fishers, IN and Linda Ann Palmer of Mount Pleasant, SC; two sons, G. Logan Simmons of Mt. Pleasant, SC and L. Hughes Simmons, III of North Charleston, SC; one sister, Carolyn S. Webb of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two brothers, William R. Billy Simmons of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Francis Y. Simmons of Sumter, SC, and seven grandchildren; Abigayle, Wesley, Lauryn, Lyndsey, Joani, Benjamin, and Banks.

David Blanchette, 44, of Bonneau, died Thursday, September 19, 2002.

Born in Charleston County on November 25, 1958, he was the son of James Tinsley Blanchette, of N. Charleston, and Charlene Ardelia Dupuis Holladay of Bonneau. Mr. Blanchette was a musician.
Mr. Blanchette was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Carl Blanchette. Survivors include, his parents; a daughter, Amber Marie Blanchette of Summerville; step-mother, Delores Dukes Blanchette of North Charleston, two sisters, Judy Gayle Roehner of Florida, Sharon Rene Anderson, of Arlington, Wash., one brother, James Randolph Blanchette of Shreveport, La.

Estelita Faustino Whitley, 56, of North Charleston, died Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at her residence.

Born in the Philippines on January 11, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Josa Faustino and Virginia Pablo Faustino. Mrs. Whitley was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Whitley was a member of the International Baptist Church.

GIBBS, Paul
Paul Vernon Gibbs, 73, loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Thursday, September 19, 2002, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, this Saturday morning, September 21, 2002, at 11 o'clock. Friends may call at Stuhr's North Area Chapel, 2119 Dorchester Road, one hour prior to the service.
Born July 5, 1929, in Syracuse, Ohio, Mr. Gibbs was the son of the late Samuel and Blanche Gibbs. He proudly served his country with 22 years active duty and eight years active reserves. He served in Korea and Viet Nam. He retired from the Navy as Senior Chief, E-9. He also retired as an employee of Bayer Corporation, formerly Mobay Chemical. He was a loving man nicknamed "Honey."
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruth C. Gibbs of N. Charleston, two sons, Jessie Eugene Gibbs and his wife, Denise Gibbs of Summerville and Michael Paul Gibbs of Jacksonville, Fla., two daughters, Denyse M. Clark of James Island and Dianne Garren and her husband Kearns Garren of Augusta, Ga., 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Also missed by a sister, Virginia Oiler, two nephews, Michael and Mitch (Karen) Nease and a niece, Karen Lyons, all of Racine, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Brown, his parents, and two brothers.
