McKEE, Marjorie
Marjorie McKee, died September 16, 2002 at her daughter's Georgia home, after a long battle with ALS. Mrs. McKee was a New York native who moved to Mount Pleasant in 1990. Survivors include her children, Erin McKee, Brett McKee and Tara Coughlan, her grandchildren, Jack, Caitlin, McKenzie and Cameron McKee and James and Weejie Coughlan. There will be no local service. RINTALA, Martin
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of September 15, 2002, Gunners Mate Chief Martin Rintala, U.S. Navy (Retired). Residence, North Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends of Gunners Mate Chief Martin Rintala are invited to attend his Memorial Services in the Charleston Air Force Base Chapel, Wednesday afternoon, September 18, 2002, at 2 o'clock. Mr. Rintala was born October 20, 1920, in Myrkky Waasa, Finland, the son of the late Heinrik Erland and Lydia Tuisku. He immigrated to the United States in 1930 and he was raised in Waukegan, Ill., and graduated there from high school. He joined the United States Navy and served as a Gunner's Mate during World War II aboard battle ships and destroyers. During the Korean Conflict he served on the Battleship Iowa as a Chief Gunner's Mate in turret number two. His decorated service was truly dedicated and exemplary. He was a well respected technical expert regarding emerging missile systems and was selected to teach at San Diego, Calif., where he retired with 22 years of service to our country in 1964. After his retirement he also retired as an Animal Control Officer with San Diego County. He settled here in Charleston in 1994 and lived with his nephew, Roger Nelson and Roger's wife Carole. It was a happy time.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Morella Rintala of Bremerton, Wash.; a son, Martin Rintala of California, a sister, Helen E. Nelson of Franklin, N.C., two brothers, Sakari Tuisku and Seppo Tuisku both of Finland.

SINEY, Vadetta
WALTERBORO - Mrs. Vadetta Siney, 81, of 121 Parkwood Circle, Walterboro, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Siney was born July 20, 1921 in Gowan, Michigan, and was a daughter of the late Raymond and Julia Edwards Caldwell. She devoted her life to her home and family, and was the widow of the late Robert Siney.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Debra Jones Davis of Walterboro; and four grandchildren, Justin Craig Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, Cortney Rae Davis of Boon, North Carolina, Austin Caldwell Davis and Macon Cooper Davis, both of Walterboro.
A private memorial service will be held.

BOWERS, Horace
KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA - Horace M. Bowers, Jr., 68, a construction supervisor with Hubbard Construction Company, died Saturday at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the CHAPEL OF THE FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME in Walterboro, SC, conducted by Elder Robert Dobson. Interment will be in Live Oak cemetery, Walterboro.
Mr. Bowers was born December 29, 1933 in Walterboro, a son of the late Horace Mack Bowers and Sarah Terry Bowers. He was a Baptist and attended the First Christian Church in Kissimmee. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, and the VFW. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was married
twice, first to the late Evelyn Rentz Bowers and secondly to Fredrice Nease Phillips Bowers.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons and one daughters-in-law, David and Lisa Bowers of Orlando, FL, Robin Bowers of Arcadia, FL, and Tony Bowers of Apopka, FL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Philip Wright of Hawkins, TX, Nedra and Russell Roberts of Apopka, FL; two stepsons, Ronald Phillips of Kissimmee, FL and Vernon R. Phillips, Jr. of Baytown, TX; a step-daughter, Colleen Wood of Baytown, TX; a brother, George H. Bowers of Barnwell; four sisters, Doris Bishop of Lodge, Maxine Avant of Islandton, Getsie Lee Williams and Erma Bowers, both of Walterboro; nine grandchildren; and 3 step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday, Prior to the services at the Fred Parker Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Cordray, 81, of Charleston, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 in a Charleston hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 4 o'clock in Sauldam Baptist Church. Burial will be in White Church cemetery, Ravenel.

Miss Cordray was born on September 5, 1921 in Ravenel, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joseph H. Cordray and Lurie Platt Cordray. She attended Charleston County schools. She was a member of Carolina Chapter No. 25 Order of the Eastern Star. She was the retired owner of Cordray's Grocery Store. She was an active member of Sauldam Baptist Church.
Surviving are 1 brother, Lolace V. Cordray of Ravenel; 2 sisters, Lenora C. Parker of Harleyville, SC, Nell C. Hilton of Ladson, SC; several nieces and nephews.

GEORGETOWN - Ruby R. Harrelson, 78, wife of Joseph Leroy Harrelson, died Monday, September 16, 2002, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 2:00 PM in Wayne United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Holler. Burial, directed by GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, will follow in Elmwood cemetery Annex.
She was born December 1, 1923 in Holly Hill, a daughter of the late Samuel Henry Rogers and Viola Finkley Rogers.
She was a retired nurse's aid with Winyah Convalescent Center. She was a charter member of Wayne United Methodist Church and a member of the Curtis Bell Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Sue Tarboux Circle and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking and traveling with her friends as her hobbies.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Joseph R. Harrelson of Beaufort and Gerald L. Harrelson of Rock Hill; four grandchildren, Alicia L. Church of Georgetown, Heather D. Harrelson of Rock Hill, Brian J. Harrelson and Clay R. Harrelson, both of Beaufort; one great-grandchild, May M. Harrelson of Beaufort; one brother, Logan Rogers of Georgetown; two step-brothers, Samuel Rogers of Summerville and Otto Rogers of Macedonia and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

SEARSON, Helen
WALTERBORO - Helen Searson, 97, a retired bookkeeper with South Atlantic Life Insurance Company, died Monday at Colleton County Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Tuesday at the graveside in Live Oak cemetery, conducted by Rev. Jim Lewis and directed by the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
Miss Searson was born October 28, 1904 in Hendersonville, SC, a daughter of the late Allen Zacharia Searson and Athalie Hamlin Searson. She was a member of St. Jude's Episcopal Church.
Surviving are several cousins.
There will be no visitation.
LITTON, Mary
Mary Kathryn May Litton, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, widow of Dr. Lynn Litton died Sunday, September 15, 2002 in a local nursing home. All services will be private. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Mrs. Litton was born in Pineville, Kentucky, a daughter of Grover Charles and Mary Kathryn May. She graduated from University of Louisville, and retired from the American Red Cross as a Social Worker. She also served with the American Red Cross during World War II. She was a member of the Women’s Medical Auxiliary, Columbia, MO and a member of the United Methodist Church of Columbia, MO.
Surviving are one son, John C. Litton of Pembrooke Pines, FL; three daughters, Mary McCrea of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Lissy Morgan of Sullivans Island, SC; and Lindsey Brenton of Overland Park, Kansas, one sister, Margaret Morgan of Clearwater, FL; nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen D. Litton, and her husband, Dr. Lynn Litton.

Mrs. Savinda was born February 4, 1936, in Tarentum, PA, she was one of four children, the daughter of Rudolph George Dudics and Marie Harcinik Dudics. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charleston, SC. She was very dedicated to her family and is remembered by all for being a very giving and loving person.
She is survived by, her husband of Mt. Pleasant, daughter, Michelle Savinda Scott, of Falkville, Alabama and son, Michael C. Savinda of Columbia, SC; one granddaughter, Amanda Scott of Falkville, Al; two grandsons, Joshua Scott of Falkville, AL and Christopher M. Savinda of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Sylvia Perusse of Yukon, Oklahoma; Rosalie Barckhoff of Logans Ferry Heights, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Rudolph and Marie Dudics and Brother, Rudy Dudics.

HILL, Mary
BELTON - Mary Scott Hill, 94, of 304 Oak Hill Road, widow of William Fred Hill, died Monday, September 16, 2002, at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late John Wilton and Sallie Wilson Scott. She was a retired teacher, having taught at Chandler Elementary School and Lickville Elementary School, a lunchroom attendant at Ellen Woodside Elementary School and West Dunklin Elementary School, and a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and William Durst of Charleston; and grandchildren, Will Durst, Thomas Durst, and Joseph Hill.
She was predeceased by a son, Larry Hill.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church by Rev. Alan Quarles and Rev. Tom Lewis. Burial will follow in Lickville Presbyterian Church cemetery.
The family is at the home and will receive friends 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at GRAY MORTUARY, PELZER.
