SEYLE, Gladys
Gladys H. Seyle, 83, of Charleston, SC, widow of Harold A. Seyle, entered into eternal rest at a local nursing home on Wednesday, September 11, 2002. She was born on July 3, 1919 in Cades, SC, the daughter of the late Sumter A. and Eva Galloway Goodson.
She is survived by one son, Wilton H. Seyle of Charleston, SC; and one daughter, Gwen S. Bowers of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also surviving are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Live Oak cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's charity of choice. The Seyle family is being served by THE CREMATION CENTER OF CHARLESTON.

BAIR, Annie
BOWMAN, SC - Mrs. Annie Meta Bair, 77 years of age, of 298 Ivanhoe Road, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Regional Medial Center in Orangeburg. Mrs. Bair was born in Rowesville, a daughter of the late Charlie Dukes and Oliva Metts Dukes, and she was the widow of Marion Thomas Bair. Mrs. Bair was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, she was well known for her love of flowers, and her ability to arrange them for various churches and friends in the community.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, September 13, 2002 at 3:00 PM at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Bobby Ethridge officiating.
Surviving are two sons, Mr. Vance Marion Bair of Bowman, Mr. Manning Arthur Bair of St. George; two daughters, Mrs. Margie Bair Billings of Columbia, Mrs. Dorothy Biar Easterlin of Bowman; two brothers, Mr. David Dukes of Reevesville, Mr. Henry Dukes of Orangeburg; two sisters, Mrs. Luella Beasley of Charleston, Mrs. Vernon Farner of Orangeburg; 10 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smythe was born June 1, 1920 in Charleston, SC, the son of Augustine Thomas Smythe and Harriott Ravenel Buist Smythe. He was a graduate of Yale University and the University of Virginia Law School. He served in the US Navy during WWII and Korea. He was a founding partner of Buist, Moore, Smythe, and McGee. He was a member and elder of The Second Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; four sons, Guy R. Smythe, Henry B. Smythe, Jr., David McC. Smythe, and George B. Smythe, all of Charleston, SC; one sister, Frances Ravenel Edmunds of Charleston, SC; one brother, Dr. Cheves McC. Smythe of Houston, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

George H. Bennett, Jr. (Bubba) died Friday September 6, 2002 in Brunswick, Ga. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Shirley Bennett, sisters Deborah Edwards and Sandy Marsh, one brother William H. Bennett, daughter Sacha Lee-Anna Bennett, granddaughter Savannah Lee-Ann Bennett.

Petty Officer First Class Richard Arthur "Rick" Davis, US Navy, 41, of Jacksonville, FL, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at his residence.

Surviving are his mother; three brothers, Billy Popham of Jacksonville, FL, Terry Popham of Jacksonville, FL, Randy Popham of Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Debbie Pendergrast of Summerville, Cathy Davis of Summerville.

Caroline Richardson, 39, of Moncks Corner, passes away on Tuesday, September 10, 2002, at her home. She was born in Charlston, SC on March 11, 1963, the daughter of the late Boyd and Virgie Bridges (nee Moore). Mrs. Richardson was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Goose Creek. Her brother, Boyd E. Bridges, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, James V.
