Gladys H. Seyle, 83, of Charleston, SC, widow of Harold A. Seyle, entered into eternal rest at a local nursing home on Wednesday, September 11, 2002. She was born on July 3, 1919 in Cades, SC, the daughter of the late Sumter A. and Eva Galloway Goodson.
She is survived by one son, Wilton H. Seyle of Charleston, SC; and one daughter, Gwen S. Bowers of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also surviving are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Live Oak cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's charity of choice. The Seyle family is being served by THE CREMATION CENTER OF CHARLESTON.
GIBBS, James
The relatives and friends of Mr. James Daniel (Dan) Gibbs, those of his wife, Mrs. Louise Gibbs; children, Mark L. Gibbs, (Shonda), Jovetta L. Gibbs, Jonathan M. Gibbs (Shane), all of Charleston, SC, and Eli V. Gibbs (Tangela) of Fort Bragg, NC, Jamie E. Gibbs (Catori) of Tallahassee, FL; twelve grandchildren; sister and brothers, Ms Rebecca Dickerson, Messrs. Edward Gibbs (Ruth), Robert Gibbs (Donzella), Charles Gathers (Theresa), Lonnie Gathers (Barbara); ten sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins are invited to attend his funeral services on Saturday, September 14, 2002, 1 PM at FIELDING HOME FOR FUNERALS, 722-3348 or 1-800-290-5954. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 8 PM. Interment, Sunset Memorial Gardens.
SCOTT, VIOLA
Entered into eternal rest on September 11, 2002, Mrs. Viola Scott of Moncks Corner, SC. She was the beloved mother of William Gray and Sam Scott; the beloved aunt of William Louis Gray.

BAIR, Annie
BOWMAN, SC - Mrs. Annie Meta Bair, 77 years of age, of 298 Ivanhoe Road, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Regional Medial Center in Orangeburg. Mrs. Bair was born in Rowesville, a daughter of the late Charlie Dukes and Oliva Metts Dukes, and she was the widow of Marion Thomas Bair. Mrs. Bair was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, she was well known for her love of flowers, and her ability to arrange them for various churches and friends in the community.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, September 13, 2002 at 3:00 PM at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Bobby Ethridge officiating.
Surviving are two sons, Mr. Vance Marion Bair of Bowman, Mr. Manning Arthur Bair of St. George; two daughters, Mrs. Margie Bair Billings of Columbia, Mrs. Dorothy Biar Easterlin of Bowman; two brothers, Mr. David Dukes of Reevesville, Mr. Henry Dukes of Orangeburg; two sisters, Mrs. Luella Beasley of Charleston, Mrs. Vernon Farner of Orangeburg; 10 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the residence of Mr. Vance Blair of Mrs. Dorothy Easterlin.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church cemetery Fund, in care of Mrs. Vivian Kizer, 1116 Flatwoods Rd., Reevesville, SC 29471.

SMYTHE, Henry
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 11, 2002, Henry Buist Smythe, husband of Mary Ridgway Smythe. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smythe are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Saturday, September 14, 2002 at eleven o'clock in The Second Presbyterian Church, Charleston, SC. Interment, churchyard. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Friday between five and seven o'clock.
Mr. Smythe was born June 1, 1920 in Charleston, SC, the son of Augustine Thomas Smythe and Harriott Ravenel Buist Smythe. He was a graduate of Yale University and the University of Virginia Law School. He served in the US Navy during WWII and Korea. He was a founding partner of Buist, Moore, Smythe, and McGee. He was a member and elder of The Second Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; four sons, Guy R. Smythe, Henry B. Smythe, Jr., David McC. Smythe, and George B. Smythe, all of Charleston, SC; one sister, Frances Ravenel Edmunds of Charleston, SC; one brother, Dr. Cheves McC. Smythe of Houston, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to The Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29403.
TALLANT, Mildred
The relatives and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Tallant are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter at J. BENNETT, George
George H. Bennett, Jr. (Bubba) died Friday September 6, 2002 in Brunswick, Ga. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Shirley Bennett, sisters Deborah Edwards and Sandy Marsh, one brother William H. Bennett, daughter Sacha Lee-Anna Bennett, granddaughter Savannah Lee-Ann Bennett.
The funeral was September 11, 2002 at 3:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Brunswick, Ga. There will be a Memorial Service Saturday September 14, 2002 at 2 P.M. on the pier at Coots, in Edisto Beach, SC.
DAVIS, Richard
Petty Officer First Class Richard Arthur "Rick" Davis, US Navy, 41, of Jacksonville, FL, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 12, 2002 at 2 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will full military honors will be in Dorchester Memorial Gardens, Summerville.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock this evening.

Rick was born on March 20, 1961 in Charleston, SC, a son of Leslie Evelyn Knight Davis of Summerville, and the late Richard Earl Davis. He was a graduate of North Charleston High School. He was an Aviation Bookkeeper with the United States Navy. He was Baptist.
Surviving are his mother; three brothers, Billy Popham of Jacksonville, FL, Terry Popham of Jacksonville, FL, Randy Popham of Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Debbie Pendergrast of Summerville, Cathy Davis of Summerville.

Caroline Richardson, 39, of Moncks Corner, passes away on Tuesday, September 10, 2002, at her home. She was born in Charlston, SC on March 11, 1963, the daughter of the late Boyd and Virgie Bridges (nee Moore). Mrs. Richardson was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Goose Creek. Her brother, Boyd E. Bridges, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, James V. Richardson of Moncks Corner, SC; a son, Michael Brinson of Moncks Corner, SC; four daughters, Malissa Brinson, Christina Brinson, Jennifer Brinson, and Deanna Richardson, all of Moncks Corner, SC; brother, James B. Bridges (Shorty); five sisters, Mildred Dean Wamble, Doris Clemons, Virgie E. Etling, Ruby H. Burbage, Judy Ann Kleiser; two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 12, 2002 in the chapel of MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 100 S. Goose Creek Blvd., Goose Creek. Interment will follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens, Hwy 17A, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the funeral home.
