WELCH, Julia
Julia Humbert Welch, 81, of Moncks Corner, a retired president of Berkeley Cabinet Shop, died Monday at a Charleston nursing home.
The funeral will be at 3 PM, Thursday at Macedonia Christian Church. Burial, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Welch was born February 26, 1921 in Berkeley County, a daughter of Charles C. Humbert and Dora Mill Humbert. She was a member of Macedonia Christian Church. She was the widow of Marion A. Welch.
Surviving are four sons, R. Pat Welch of Charleston, Robert Welch of Moncks Corner, Ronald Welch of Atlanta, GA, William Welch of Goose Creek; daughter, Eleanor W. Harris of James Island; sister, Blossie Lamb of Bonneau; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

KENNESAW, GA - Mrs. Catherine Guarisco Neeley, age 47, of Kennesaw, formerly of Charleston, passes away September 6, 2002 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. SCHNEIDER, Bryan
NEWNAN, GEORGIA - Bryan Marshall Schneider, 51, died Monday, September 9, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Schneider was born in Georgetown on June 6, 1951, a son of Philip Lewenthal Schneider and the late Dorothy Levkoff Schneider. He graduated from Winyah High School, Amherst College, the University of South Carolina School of Law, with Honors, and received a Teaching Masters Degree in Law from Yale University. Mr. Schneider was a Professor of Law at the University of Indiana.
Surviving are his father of Georgetown; a brother, Laz. L. Schneider of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a sister, Susan S. Berry of Murrells Inlet; one niece; two nephews; and a loving companion, Beverly Williams of Newnan.
Graveside funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, September 12, 2002 at three o'clock in the Jewish cemetery in Georgetown under the direction of the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be Mr. Hugo Shaw.

MOULTON, Leland
GEORGETOWN - Leland Camlin Moulton, 90, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Moulton was born in the Bloomingvale Community of Williamsburg County on June 20, 1912, a daughter of the late Wade Overton Camlin, Jr., and Lula Catherine Smith Camlin. She grew up in Williamsburg County, graduated from High School and lived in Richmond, Va., for several years. Mrs. Moulton moved to Georgetown in 1941. She was an employee of the Western Auto Store for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the widow of John Henry Moulton, III.
Surviving are, two sons, Don Alan Moulton of Pawley's Island and Wallace Camlin Moulton of Hemingway; a daughter, June Moulton Lee of Moncks Corner; a brother, William Camlin of Riegelwood, N.C.; three sisters, Louise Camlin Price of Florence, Lula Camlin Wiggins of Greenville, and Geneva Camlin Smith Clapp of Georgetown; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill and the Rev. Dr. W.H. Clapp. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME.

ROGERS, JR., Frank
Frank Esby Rogers, Jr., retired farmer, stock broker, and World War II veteran, died Monday, September 9, 2002, at his home in Darlington. He was the son of Mary Anita Tartt and Frank Esby Rogers, born August 20, 1920.
He attended St. John's Schools and after graduation went to Clemson College, where he was Editor-in-Chief of "The Agrarian, " Alumni Secretary of Blue Key, President of the Senior "Y" Council, President of the YMCA Council, Lt. Col. and Executive Officer of the 2nd Regiment Staff, Secretary/Treasurer of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. He was a member of the tennis team, Minor "C" Club, "Tiger" staff, Calhoun Forensic Society, Perishing Rifles, Scabbard and Blade, Alpha Phi Omega, and the Pee Deeans. He was graduated with a degree in agricultural engineering in 1941 and was listed in "Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities."
After college he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Fighter Pilot on the USS Lexington in the Pacific during World War II. He received numerous citations and awards including the Air Medal for "his zealous devotion to the duty throughout numerous extremely hazardous combat missions" and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his "superb airmanship, indomitable and fighting spirit, and cool courage in the face of overwhelming opposition." He participated in many operations that earned the Lexington the Presidential Unit Citation for "extraordinary heroism in action."
When the war was over, he returned to Darlington, and in 1948 he married
Jessie Williamson Coggeshall. They moved to his family's farm on Rogers Road and restored the house built around 1870 by his grandfather, Robert Hart Rogers. He was one of the first farmers in the area to use crop irrigation and to grow florist-quality gladiolas, tube roses, and various truck crops, and for a number of years he operated a nursery.
Later he went into the investment business and opened a brokerage office, a branch of Johnson, Coleman, Manning, and Smith, on the Square in Darlington. He was associated with several other brokerage companies in his career and retired from AG Edwards in Florence.
He grew up in the First Baptist Church and later joined St. Matthew's Episcopal Church where he was a former vestryman and Sunday School teacher. He was also past president of the Darlington Historical Society, and a charter member of the Men's Dance Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Coggeshall Rogers; daughters, Jessie Rogers Whitaker of Darlington, Mary Rogers Field of Greencastle, Ind., and Marion Rogers Coxe of Darlington. His grandchildren are Anne, Simon, Stephen, and Molly Whitaker; Marion and Jane Field; and Rogers, Richard and Elizabeth Coxe.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2002, in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church with interment following in Grove Hill cemetery, directed by BELK FUNERAL HOME.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the home, 548 Rogers Road, Darlington.

RICHARDSON, James
James Albert Richardson, Ph.D., 87, husband of Armine Kingsland Richardson, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002, in Charleston. Dr. Richardson was born Wednesday, January 27, 1915, in Schenectady, N.Y., he was a citizen of Hampton County, S.C., from birth until maturity and the son of James Clarence and Rose Schairer Richardson. He attended Oglethorpe University was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, received his M.S. from the University of Mississippi and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee Medical Unites. Dr. Richardson was an Instructor in Pharmacy (1940-1941) at the University of Mississippi, Professor of Pharmacology for 43 years at the Medical University of South Carolina, Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology and acting chairman of the Pharmacology Department (1971-1972). While at MUSC he was on the Curriculum Committee, College of Medicine, Buildings and Grounds Committee, Graduate Council, Chairman Animal Care Committee (now expanded to the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine), Personnel Committee, Administrative Advisory Committee, College of Pharmacy, Chairman of the Hospital Formulary Committee, Student Advisor System, Student Affairs Committee, College of Dental Medicine, Admissions Committee, College of Dental Medicine, Grand Marshall, Commencement Exercises, June 1975 - May 1985 inclusive, Administrative Advisory Committee, College of Pharmacy, member of the Annual Student Research Competition Committee, the College of Medicine Dean's Student Recognition Awards Committee, Curriculum Committee, College of Graduate Studies, Faculty Senate, University Affairs, Committee of Faculty Senate, Chairman, Basic Science Electoral Unit, Steering Committee of Faculty Senate, Representative, College of Medicine at Quinquennial Meeting of U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention, Vice Chairman, Health Care Advisory Board of the Department of Health and Environmental Control for S.C., a member of the Charleston County Mental Retardation Board as well as its longest serving member, Interview Committee, College of Medicine Admissions, Chairman, President's Installation Committee, Admission Committee, College of Medicine present member of MUSC Alumni Liaison Committee, author of over 60 articles in national and international scientific journals and the author of a section of a Medical Textbook (Rypins' Medical Licensure Examinations).
He was a Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, Past President of the local chapter, Rho Chi, Honorary Alumnus of Medical University of S.C. and received the State Teacher Award from the Daughters of the Colonial Wars. Dr. Richardson was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Social Fraternity, University of South Carolina Alumni Council, Sons of the American Revolution, Lions Club, Nativity Catholic Church, Former President St. Mary's Men's Club, Past President of Blessed Sacrament St. Vincent de Paul Society, Past President of the Serra Club and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, American Society of Experimental Biology and Medicine, Councillor, local chapter, American Federation for Clinical Research, American Association for Advancement of Science (Fellow), S.C. Academy of Science: Catecholamine Club (National), International Society for Biochemical Pharmacology, Council on Basic Science of American Health Association, Toxicology Information Program at the National Library of Medicine, Research Discussion Group (National), the United States Pharmacopeial Convention and the New York Academy of Sciences. SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - Mrs. Eva Siler Wilcox, 92, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., died on Sunday, September 8, 2002.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2002, at Euphronia Presbyterian Church in Sanford, preceded by a 10:45 a.m., burial in the church cemetery.
Born November 3, 1910, in Staley, N.C., she was the wife of the late Gorge W. Wilcox. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Frances Wilcox Love of Pinehurst and Ann Wilcox Parker of Dale City, Calif.
She is survived by one daughter, Amelia Katherine Wilcox MacRae of Southern Pines, two sons, George W. Wilcox of Wilmington and R. Palmer Wilcox of Raeford, 14 grandchildren at 16 great-grandchildren.

KINGSTREE - Ruth Williamson Carter, widow of Lewis J. Carter, died Monday, in a Florence hospital.
Mrs. Carter was born at Norway in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late John William Williamson and Inez Salley Williamson. She graduated from Winthrop College and was a retired school teacher, having taught for 35 years at Johnsonville, Loris, Socastee, Wampee, Florence, and Kingstree schools. Mrs. Carter was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Surviving are, a son, Lewis J. Carter, Jr., of Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter, Salley C. Lane of Marion, S.C.; four grandchildren, John Carter of Bloomfield, Conn., Michael Lane of Marion, S.C., Thomas Carter of Lakeland, Fla., and Kristen Lane of Marion, S.C.; five sisters, Virginia Williamson of Orangeburg, S.C., Celeste Gaskins of Norway, Mary Caudell of St. Pauls, N.C., Carolyn Lemmon of North Augusta, S.C., and Meg Waugh of Columbia, S.C.; three brothers, Harvey Williamson, Joe Williamson, and James Williamson, all of Norway.
