Mr. Gestefeld was born January 5, 1948, in Charleston, S.C., son of Don R. and Wilma Gestefeld. He served in the U.S.A.F. during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his two sisters, Jan G. Moore of Charleston, S.C., and Donna G. Williams of Ft. Myers, Fla.; half-brother, Don B. Gestefeld of N. Charleston, S.C. He is predeceased by his parents, Don R. and Wilma Gestefeld.

HIGHTOWER, Arthur
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 6, 2002, Arthur E. Hightower, husband of Allene Phillips Hightower, residence, Charleston, S.C. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service at Holy Cross cemetery, Monday, September 9, 2002, at 11:30.
Mr. Hightower was born September 1, 1920, in Barnwell, S.C., son of Faber and Lessie Hightower. Mr. Hightower was a Baptist. He was a W.W.II U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Cooper Hightower of Santee, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

FLOWERS, Patricia
Patricia A. Flowers, 54, of Reading, Pa., died Friday, September 6, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Flowers was born, January 16, 1948, in Charleston, the daughter of James Flowers, Sr., of Goose Creek, S.C., and Captolia (Cook), Charleston, S.C. She was an operator at Lucent Technologies in Reading for one year and last worked the fall of 2001. She had also been an assembler at Rockwell International in Wyomissing for over 25 years. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include, daughter, Kimberly J. (Flowers) Bechtel of Reading; three grandchildren; six brothers, James Flowers, Frank Flowers, John Flowers, David Flowers, CH Flowers, and Ben Flowers, all of Charleston; and two sisters, Barbara (Flowers) Sports of Goose Creek, S.C., and Peggy (Flowers) McWethy of Summerville.
Graveside services will be in Laureldale cemetery, Monday, September 9, at 2 p.m. Rev. Victor A. Kroninger will officiate.

Geneva Poyas Nixon was born to the late Mrs. Susie Lawrence Poyas and Mr. Butler Poyas, January 30, 1926. She departed this life, September 4, 2002. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Poyas Wilson, and a brother, Carl Poyas. She was a faithful member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served as an usher for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosa L. Manigault and Easter Lawrence; grandson, James Lawrence; nieces, Carlretta Wright, Sandra Foster, and Betty Jean Smalls; nephews, David Poyas and Carlton Poyas; a faithful friend, Isreal North. TUTEN, Riddic
HENDERSONVILLE - Mr. Riddick W. Tuten, 71, of 1542 Mewville Road, died Friday at Colleton Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday at Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Hinton and Rev. Gerald Mabry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Tuten was born in Colleton County, a son of the late Robert L. Tuten and Edna Knight Stanley Tuten. He was a retired Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was also a retired industrial arts and electric teacher with the Colleton County School System. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, where he was an assistant men's Sunday school class teacher and worked with the youth. He had an associate's degree in electronics.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Lois Moore Tuten, a son and daughter-in-law, Riddick Dale and Jean Tuten of Hendersonville, a daughter and son-in-law, Lorrie and Clarence Causey of Estill, two brothers, Robert Henry Tuten of Indialantic, Fla., and Ronald Knight Tuten of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and two grandchildren, Robert Cody Tuten and Cassie Jean Tuten.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Saturday, at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.

COTTON, William
William "Billy" W. Cotton, Jr., 54, an artist of Charleston, died Friday, September 06, 2002 at a local hospital. Mr. William Walter Cotton, Jr. was born Sunday, November 2, 1947 in Charleston, SC, the son of William Walter and Hazel Meyers Cotton. He attended the University of South Carolina. Mr. Cotton was an accomplished artist and muralist in South Carolina. Examples of his work are the murals found at Gilligan's Seafood Restaurants as well as his renderings of #21 King Street and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge. Much of his artwork has been published in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. He was a lover of Carolina Football. Mr. Cotton is survived by his mother of Charleston; a son, William W. Cotton, III of Charleston; a sister, Nancy Cotton Turner of Charleston; and a nephew, Dennis Turner of Goose Creek. Friends and family are invited to attend his memorial service at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Ashley River Congregation, 3308 Bonanza Road. Fred M. Downs, Sr., 88, husband of the late Yolanda Downs of James Island, died Thursday, September 5, 2002 at his residence. Born in Tupper Lake, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Gildner Downs. He was retired as a civil engineer and was a member of the James Island American Legion and the VFW. Mr. Downs is survived by his son, Fred M. Downs, Jr., and wife Rosemary of Charleston; three daughters, Joann Barksdale and her husband Lew of Virginia, Denise McElwee and husband Jack of Charleston, Loretta Little and husband Rick of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Brant Barksdale, Michael Barksdale, Teresa Barksdale, Johnny McElwee, Allison McElwee, Greg Anderson, Heather Walpole, and Mimi Condon. Also survived by nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 2 PM Monday, September 9, 2002 at Our Lady of Good Counsel.
