PENNINGTON, Darel
Darel Ballard "Uncle Buck" Pennington, 59, of Moncks Corner, husband of Jean Pennington, died Monday morning at his residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at Plantation Memorial Gardens with Military and Masonic Rites. Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville, from 5 until 8 o'clock this evening.

Mr. Pennington was born on December 31, 1942, in Pennington Gap, Virginia, the son of the late Ersa Pennington and Arnette Stewart Pennington. He attended Pennington High School in Virginia. He was a member of Omar Temple, Dorchester Lodge #369, Dorchester Shrine Club, Berkeley Shrine Club, Hillbilly Clan #2 Outhouse One, York Rite, Scottish Rite and the Kentucky Colonel. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in the Vietnam War. He was retired from J.W. Aluminum. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are, his wife of Moncks Corner; daughter, Damon Pennington and his wife Delaina of Moncks Corner; four grandsons, Brent Pennington, Bradley Martin, Corey Martin and Kent Pennington all of Moncks Corner; two sisters, Guila Jones of Clinton, North Carolina, Von Fields of Clinton, North Carolina.

RITTENBERG, Elizabeth
Elizabeth Douglas (Bethe) Rittenberg, M.D., died on November 24, 2002, in an automobile accident. Dr. Rittenberg was born in Lancaster, SC on June 17, 1951. She was the daughter of Robert A. Douglas, Jr., and Barbara Weeks Douglas.
The relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside services in Emanu-El cemetery Maryville, Tuesday at twelve noon.
She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She later graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina, and then completed her residency there in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Rittenberg served on the Medical University of South Carolina faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She then entered private practice in that field and was the Medical Director of the Roper Rehabilitation Hospital. She was a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Rittenberg was a member of Synagogue Emanu-el, where she served as Chairman of the Social Action Committee and regularly cooked and served meals at the homeless shelter. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and at the time of her death, she was President of the Lowcountry Phi Beta Kappa Association. She was a member of the Charleston County Medical Society, the South Carolina Medical Association, the Medical Society of South Carolina, the Widows and Orphans Society, and the American Association of Academic Physiatrists.
Dr. Rittenberg is survived by her husband, Charles S. Rittenberg, M.D., and two daughters Rachel Alice Rittenberg and Rebecca Barbara Rittenberg. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Schmidt of Virginia and Rebecca Finley of Tennessee, and one brother, Robert L. B. Douglas of Virginia.

David D. Kuykendall, 73, of Summerville, SC, husband of Janice Wall Kuykendall, died Monday morning, November 25, 2002 at a Charleston hospital.

Mt. Kuykendall was born February 11, 1929 in Tyron, NC, a son of the late Lorenzo Robert Kuykendall and Celia Connor Kuykendall. He was a retired aircraft mechanic/civil service, a US Navy veteran, serving in both Korea and Vietnam, as well as an Air Force Reservist. Mr. Kuykendall was also an active member of Summerville Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Stafford's Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Wall Kuykendall of Summerville; 2 daughters, Sherry L. Kuykendall of Philadelphia, and Dianne K. King and husband, Jerry King of Matthews, NC; 1 son, David P. Kuykendall and wife, Donna E. Kuykendall, of Clemmons, NC; 3 sisters: Lillian Rickman and Opal Edwards, both of Columbus, NC and Ruby McCarter, of Jackson, TN; 2 brothers, Vesta H. Virginia Cooper Shealy, 61, of Macedonia, a retired manager with Branton's Rodd Robbin restaurant, died Friday at a Summerville hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 PM, Monday at Oak Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, will be in Macedonia Christian Church cemetery.
Mrs. Shealey was born October 31, 1941, in Williamsburg County, S.C., a daughter of Thomas Alex Cooper and Fannie Browder Cooper. She was a member of the Oak Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are her husband, Shelton L. Shealy of Macedonia; son, Shel Shealy of Macedonia; daughter, Jamie S.
