PINCKNEY, Lawrence
On Wednesday morning, November 20, 2002, the Angel of Mercy directed his path to the Master's Hand where he shall forever be pain free, untiring, and loved eternally, Mr. Lawrence Pinckney, Sr. He leaves to mourn his passing five loving and dedicated daughters: Ms. Rosabell (Joe L.) Pugh (Charleston, SC), Shirley (Silas, Sr.) Burgess, Lula M. (Al) Smalls, Ms. Gloria J. Pinckney Botang, Mrs. Shirley (Franklin) Frost (all of New York, NY), Mrs. Mary Lee Isom (N. Charleston), and Ms. Mary Whetsell (Charleston); six loving and dedicated sons: Mr. Lawrence L. (Vivian) Pinckney, Jr. (Summerville), Mr. George (Naomi) Pinckney, Mr. Edward J. Pinckney, Mr. Timothy (Linda) Pinckney, Mr. Reginald (Veronica) Ray, and Mr. Randy (Betty) Ray (all of North Charleston); Mrs. Shirley B. Pinckney (daughter-in-law), one sister-in-law: Evangelist Lula Mae Waring; one brother-in-law: William Middleton; two grand-nieces: Mrs. Bernice (Willie) Hart and Ms. Rosalee Simmons; 50 grandchildren (whom he loved dearly) 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

SULLIVAN, John
John Vincent Sullivan, 80, a retired Chief Warrant Officer with the US Navy and husband of Arlene Butler Sullivan of Charleston, died Saturday, November 23, 2002 at a local hospital. Mr. Sullivan was born Wednesday, August 30, 1922 in Edgewater, NJ, the son of Denis and Gertrude Dilger Sullivan. He faithfully and honorably served our country during World War II and for 29 years in the United States Navy. Mr. Sullivan is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, three daughters: Barbara and her husband James Roodvoets of Indianapolis, IN, Kathleen Sullivan of Charleston and Susan and her husband Larry Rowland of Charleston; four grandchildren: Amy Norton of Auburn, IN, Edward Roodvoets of Indianapolis, IN, Brian Rowland and Kimberly Rowland of Charleston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be in Holy Cross cemetery. Mr. McIntosh passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2002. Born in Greeneville, TN, he was a son of Effie Bible and the late Gilbert Weston McIntosh, Sr. A graduate of USC, he retired from the State Department of Social Service Finance Division. He also retired honorably from the military as a Command Sergeant Major with over thirty-five years of service in the United States Army and Reserve.
He is survived by wife, Nancy F. (Polly) McIntosh; sons, Dr. James C. McIntosh, Jr., MD of Mt. Pleasant, Chris Allen McIntosh of Lexington, SC; mother of Greeneville, TN; brother, Gilbert W. McIntosh, Jr. of Pigeon Forge, TN; sisters, Margaret Leo, of Sevierville, TN, Nellie Tunnell of Mosheim, TN; grandchildren, Casey, Kipper, Taylor, and Emma McIntosh; nieces and nephews.

TERRY, SR., Joseph
Mr. Joseph Francis Terry, Sr., 61 of 2700 Pond Town Road near Brunson, died Saturday afternoon in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Terry was born in Fairfax, SC August 23, 1941, a son of the late Ulis C. and Maude Terry. He had retired from International Paper Corp. in Hampton as a Treator Operator, and had served in the Hampton National Guard Unit for 30 years. He was a member of the Brunson Baptist Church, the Brunson Lions Club, and Coached Football and Baseball with the Hampton-Varnville Little League Program. He was the Basketball Coach at the Brunson Elementary School for 25 years, and was a member of the 1st Fast Pitch Softball Team in Hampton.
Surviving are: his wife, Frances Sullivan Terry of Brunson; sons: Joseph F. Terry, Jr. and Christopher L. Terry, both of Varnville; sons and daughter in laws: Claude C. and Lisa G. Terry, William Scott and Stephanie J. Terry, all of Varnville, Michael A. and Michelle B. Terry, Sr. of Hampton; daughter and son in law, Deborah T. and Dobie Hiers of Varnville; brother, Ulis N. Terry of Brunson; six sisters: Sarah T. Bowers, Iva Lee T. Gooding, Daisy Ann T. Croft, and Linda Roberts, all of Brunson, Betty T. Wall of Allendale, and Clem T. Sullivan of Fairfax; one sister in law: Shirley A. Sullivan of Brunson and 8 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Tuesday in the CHAPEL OF PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton conducted by Rev. David Deming, with burial in the Rivers cemetery with full Military Honors.
Friends may call at the Chapel in Hampton from 6 to 9 PM Monday, and Tuesday until the hour of service.
BOYD, Sally
CONWAY - Sally S. Boyd, age 56, of Hwy 66, died Sunday, November 24, 2002 at her residence following an illness.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Loris, a daughter of Evelyn Mishoe Stevens and the late Hoyt Stevens. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church #1. Mrs. Boyd was an office assistant with Stokes Regional Eye Clinic and former Assistant Director of Ocean View Teaching and Learning Center.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Loris and her husband, George S. Boyd of Conway; one daughter, Amy Lynnette Boyd of Conway; three sisters, Wanda Stevens Bullock of Clarendon, NC, Gail Stevens Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, and Teresa Stevens Spivey of Loris; one brother, Hoyt Kent Stevens of Thule Air Force Base in Greenland; 6 nephews, 6 nieces, 7 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday from GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, CONWAY CHAPEL, with the Rev. David Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest cemetery.

HALL, Loren
Loren Warner Hall, 73, of Summerville, died Saturday, November 23, 2002, at his home. He was born on January 8, 1929, in Wichita, Kans., the son of the late Evelyn M. Bradley and the late Raymond F. Hall.
He was a retired meteorologist from the National Weather Service and a veteran of two branches of the Armed Services. He served in the weather branch of the U.S. Navy during the aftermath of World War II and was stationed in China before the Communist Revolution. It was in the Navy, 52 years ago, that he met and married
Harriett, a fellow Navy weather student. He later transferred to the U.S. Air Force where he continued his weather career in various assignments before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant after 30 years. During his military career, Loren flew hurricane reconnaissance missions with the 56th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron (the "Hurricane Hunters, ") served with the North American Defense Command, and received the Apollo Mission Support Medal from NASA for his role as a solar forecaster in the Apollo Space Program. He went to school in the evenings earning a B.A. Degree from the University of Maryland in 1969. Among his military awards, he received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal.
When he retired from the military, he joined the National Weather Service where he served as a meteorologist for 16 years and received the Silver Medal for Meritorious Federal Service. It was this assignment that brought him to Summerville, his home for the past 25 years. He was a volunteer worker with the Red Cross Senior Program.
He is survived by his wife, Harriett, of Summerville; a daughter, Janis Bennett, of Irmo, S.C.; a son, Bradley Hall, of Wyomissing, Pa. He has five grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Brian Hall, Elizabeth Hall, Cynthia Bennett, and Sylvia Bennett.
His family will receive friends at JAMES A. DYAL FUNERAL HOME, SUMMERVILLE, on Tuesday, November 26, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the Dyal Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2002, followed by Entombment at Magnolia cemetery in Charleston.
