ST. GEORGE - Mrs. Mamie Durr North, 90, of The Methodist Oaks formerly of 1019 Wolfe Street, Jacksonville, Florida died Friday October 11, 2002. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, FL with Rev. David P. Spaulding officiating. Pallbearers will be C. Hampton Durr, Kerry G. Durr, Jason Freeman, Sherald North, Sanford Leigh, Leon Cooper, and Jack Jones. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME, ST. GEORGE. Mrs. North was born September 26, 1912 in St. George a daughter of Claudious Hampton Durr and Florence Miller Durr. She graduated from St. George High School and Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse with St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville and was an active member of Murray Hill United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a lay witness and served on numerous committees. She was predeceased by a sister, Feddie D. Freeman, and brothers, Herbert Eugene Durr and Carlisle Haskell Durr. Surviving are several sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was the widow of Charlie Henry North.

Gilbert Granger Davis, Sr., 81, of Summerville, husband of Katherine Rivers Davis, died Saturday, October 12, 2002, in a Summerville hospital.

Born in Summerville, S.C., on May 19, 1921, he was the son of the late Johnny W. Davis and Maggie Myers Davis.
He was educated in Summerville schools, and served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Charleston Ordinance Depot and was a Farmer. He was a member of Boone Hill United Methodist Church, and its Mens Club.
Surviving are, wife, Katherine Rivers Davis, of Summerville; sons, Gilbert Granger Davis, Jr., of Lake City, S.C., and Anthony R. Davis and Bradford W. Davis, both of Summerville, S.C.; daughter, Suzette D. Selvey of Summerville, S.C.; sister, Nettie Benoit of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death in 1992 by his son, Lonnie W. Davis, and his one-week-old daughter, Donna Elaine Davis.

Mrs. Burger, wife of the late Harry F. Burger, died Friday, October 11, 2002. Born in Bamberg, she was the daughter of the late Ralph B. and Lucille Hunter McDonald. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Joy Sunday School Class and the Mae Dent Circle.
Surviving are sons, Frank Burger and his wife, Shirley of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Ken Burger and his wife, Ann of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, W.F. McDonald of Silver Springs, Md., and R. B. McDonald of Garland, Texas; and five grandchildren.

FREEMAN, Jacob
Mr. Jacob Bruce "Frog" Freeman, 69, of 265 North Main St., in Brunson, died early Saturday morning at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Freeman was born in Brunson, December 7, 1932, a son of the late Toby and Rodell Crosby Chesser Freeman. He was a retired carpenter, President of the Freemen Hunting Club, and attended the Baptist Church. Surviving are, two sons, Timothy Freeman of Brunson, and Anthony Freeman of Varnville; two daughters, Sandy F. Gable of Gilbert, and Christy F. Brown of Roswell, Ga.; four brothers, Marvin Freeman and Gene Freeman, both of Brunson, Bobby Chesser of Leesville, and James A. Chesser of Ocala., Fla.; three sisters, Lil Youmans of Hampton, Anne L. Hagee and Verle Harrellson both of Lexington; and a special friend and loving companion, Ann DeLoach. There are ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, in the Chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON, conducted by Rev. William S. Doar, Jr., 78, of Hanahan, died Thursday, November 21, 2002, at his residence.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2002, at Magnolia cemetery with full military honors.
Born July 15, 1924, in Charleston, he was the son of the late William St. Julian Doar, Sr., and Myrtle Lafourcade Doar.
Mr. Doar was a retired Master Chief Radioman with the U.S. Navy where he served 31 years. Mr. Doar was head of security at Charleston Southern University for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Jane Doar of Hanahan, one daughter, Sharon Breckenridge, of Frankton, Ind., two sons, Robert Doar, of Kernersville, N.C., and Edward Doar, of Summerville, two sisters, Margaret Jones, of Norfolk, Va., and Harriet Pritchett, of Chesapeake, Va., and five grandchildren.

Mr. Hendrix was born August 4, 1952, in Elberton, Ga., the son of Carl C. Hendrix and Lillian Opal Hendrix Herring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Mr. Hendrix was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was employed as a welder at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Ana Hendrix of North Charleston, one son, Carl C. Hendrix and wife (Laura) of Goose Creek, one daughter, Tiffany Bonilia and husband Marbin Bonilla of Summerville, his mother, Lillian Opal Herring of North Charleston, and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Carl C. Hendrix, his step-father, William K. (Bill) Herring.

INFINGER, Walter
Walter Allen Infinger, 67, of John's Island, a retired truck driver with Armada Hess and a U.S. Marine Corps 1st Sergeant and husband of Billie Jean Summers Infinger, died Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Infinger was born in Rosinville, S.C., on Thursday, October 31, 1935, a son of Carl Thomas and Evelyn O'Quinn Infinger. He attended North Charleston High School and honorably served his country for more than 20 years as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Infinger was an active member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Via de Cristo. He loved doing volunteer work for various community organizations and could regularly be found at Advent Lutheran Church, helping Lutheran Social Services prepare meals for the needy. He is survived by his wife of John's Island, four children, Alicia I. Broome of Aiken, S.C., James A. Infinger of James Island, William T. Infinger of Jupiter, Fla., Walter C. Infinger of Sangaree, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Bobbie Jean Hilton of Castlebury, Fla., Judy D. Carroll of Hanahan and one brother, Carl P. Infinger of Denver, Colo.

Mrs. Sams died Thursday, November 21, 2002. Born in Stamford, TX, she was a daughter of the late Robert Edward and Daisy Irmadene Niece Penick. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina, Class of 1939, with a degree in Social Work. On August 10, 1940, she married
Lt. Col. Robert R. McCrary of Clinton, SC. As the wife of an Air Force Pilot, she moved about the United States and abroad. In 1960, they returned to Columbia. She was active with the Kalmia Garden Club of Columbia, the Republican Party and volunteered with numerous other charities. Following the death of her first husband, she married
Louis H. Sams in 1974. At the time of her death she was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband of Columbia, Daughters, Susan McCrary Williams (Danny) of Boca Raton, FL and Jeannie McCrary Cousin (Richard) of Orange Park, FL, sons, Charles Penick McCrary of Columbia, and William Finney McCrary (Ann) of Chapin, step-daughters, Cynthia Powell (Robert) and Diane Wise both of Columbia, grandchildren, Danielle Lobe, Sean Williams, Jeanna Bruton, Ryan Bruton, Ryan McCrary and Tinsley McCrary, great grandson, Aaron Lobe. Mrs. Sams was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert R. McCrary, brother, Tom Penick and sister, Mary Counts.
