Entered into eternal rest on November 20, 2002 Mamie M. Tallent, wife of Marion Jean Tallent, residence, Chicago, Illinois. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Jean Tallent are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter Friday at one o’clock at the graveside in Beth Israel cemetery (Magnolia Crossing).
Mrs.Tallent was born August 18, 1919 in Statesboro, Ga., the daughter of Jacob Miller and Jennie Lipshitz. She is a member of Temple Beth Israel in Skokie, Illinois. She graduated from Memminger School and Murray Vocational High School. She was Past Matron of the Constellation Chapter of the Eastern Star, and a past matron of the Betsy Ross Chapter #189 of the Eastern Star, she initiated the Stella Vitae 99 of the Eastern Star in Charleston, and was a member of Woodman of the World.
Her husband of Chicago survives her; one niece: Kathy Kreiman of Chicago; two great nieces: Kristin Kreiman of Chicago and Alice Godim of St. Charles, Mo. and her sister-in-law, Alice Godin.

Mrs. Hair, 88, was born August 17, 1914 in St. Matthews, South Carolina, the daughter of Willis D. Hammond and Eliza A. Curtin Hammond. She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and Deer Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Hair was a retired fishing rod inspector with the Shakespear Company.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann Hair Strickland and Robert E. Strickland of North Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Paul Brooks, Brenda Brooks, Perry Carter, Sonya Carter, Becky San Souci and Jimmy San Souci; six great-grandchildren, Philip Brooks, Amber Brooks, Rodney Carter, Meghan Carter, Austin Chestnut and Britney San Souci. Mrs. Hair was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Grady D. Hair.
SWANSON, Jeffrey
MYRTLE BEACH - Jeffrey R. Swanson, age 31, of Myrtle Beach died unexpectedly Monday, November 18, 2002 at his home.
Born March 9, 1971 in Rochester, MI, he was the son of Larry Byron and Barbara Izzett Swanson. Mr. Swanson received a heart transplant in 1985 at the age of 14 and was Cleveland Clinic's youngest heart recipient at that time. He graduated from Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, WV in 1989. He was a 1995 graduate of the Ohio State University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Upon receiving his degree in physical education, he taught 3 years in Georgetown County and coached soccer at Georgetown High School. Mr. Swanson owned and operated Skyrider of Myrtle Beach and served as president of his local homeowner's association. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Amelia Izzett of Surfside Beach and Helen and Earl Swanson of Sun City, AZ.
Surviving, in addition to his parents of Mentor, OH are his wife, Lynne and 3 year old daughter, Paige; brothers, Gregory W. Swanson of Madison, OH and Scott B. Swanson and wife Joymarie of West Point, NY.
Memorial services will be 1 PM Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church directed by GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, BEACH CHAPEL, 2061 Glenns Bay Rd. in Surfside Beach. PERKINS, Lena
FOUNTAIN INN, SC - Lena Mae Holcombe Perkins, 96, formerly of 101 Meadowbrook Drive, Fountain Inn, widow of Harnell M. Perkins, died November 19, 2002 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens.
Born in Fountain Inn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Lena Cox Holcombe. She was a graduate of Limestone College and received a Masters Degree in Education from Duke University. She returned to Fountain Inn after retiring from a teaching career of 44 years in Charleston. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the South Carolina Retired Teachers Association, and the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and Citadel Square Baptist Church in Charleston. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by eight nieces: Sandra Fennell, Linda McCrary, Harriett Sims, Judy Davis, Nell Snipes, Becky Bagwell, Marie Perkins, and Jo Ann Holcombe Howard; four nephews: Russ Perkins, William Frank, Joseph Kye, and John Houston Holcombe.
She was predeceased by three brothers: Kye, Houston, and Frank Holcombe; and two sisters, Arie and Drenna Holcombe.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Cannon Funeral & Cremations Chapel in Simpsonville, November 22, 2002 at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Donald C. Tumblin officiating. Visitation following the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Church cemetery, Fountain Inn.

LILES, JR., Thomas
FLORENCE - Rev. Thomas Earnest Liles, Jr., age 81, of Florence, died on November 18, 2002 at a Florence hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 22, 2002 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church of Murrells Inlet with burial in the Belin Memorial cemetery directed by FLOYD FUNERAL HOME of Olanta. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Born in Marlboro County, he was a son of the late Thomas E. Liles, Sr. and Mary Brigman Liles. Rev. Liles was a graduate of Coker College. He was a retired United Methodist Minister and member of the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. During his forty years of service, Rev. Liles served the following Church Charges: Twitty (Hartsville 1951-1955), Lynchburg, St. Luke, Trinity (1955 - 1959); Moncks Corner, Ebenezer (1959 - 1964); Buford, Bethel (Lancaster 1964-1966); Harleyville (1966 - 1971); Lynwood, Trinity (Lancaster 1971 - 1974); St. Paul, Wesley Chapel (St. Matthews 1974 - 1979); Surfside Beach (1979 - 1982); Winnsboro (1982 - 1984). After retiring in 1984 from the SC United Methodist Conference, Rev. Liles continued to minister as Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC from 1984 through 1987 and Belin United Methodist Church in Murrell's Inlet, SC from 1987 - 1992.
Rev. Liles was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy L. Dicus and Theo L. Davis; two brothers: Paul Liles and Robert Liles.
Surviving is his wife, Virginia B. Liles of Florence; one daughter, Faith L. (Larry) Furtick of Moncks Corner; one son, Thomas E. (Mary) Liles of Florence; three sisters: Frances L. Liles of Raleigh, NC; Millie L. Hubbard of McColl, SC; and Tillie L. Hagan of North Myrtle Beach; five grandchildren: Matthew Furtick of Little Rock, AK; Steven (Holly) Furtick of Boiling Springs, NC; Patricia (Kelly) Gibbs of Evansville, IN; Melissa K. Liles of New York, NY; and Heather (Jason) McAuley of Bloomington, IN.
YOCUM, Anna
EUTAWVILLE - Mrs. Anna Bower Yocum, 71, of 413 Walker Drive, Eutawville, died Wednesday at her son's home in Cottageville.
The funeral will be 2 PM Friday, November 22, 2002 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with Rev. John Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville cemetery.
Mrs. Yocum was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frederick and Leona Bower. She was a loving and caring person.
Surviving are her husband, William G. Yocum of the home; daughters, Judy Jendrusik of Saint Clairsville, Ohio, Debbie Tumbleston, Brenda Yocum, and Melanie Locklear, all of Eutawville; sons, Gary Mayle of Summerville, Ricky and Gill Mayle of Eutawville, Rock Mayle of Charleston, and William Yocum of Cottageville; sister, Dolly Perko of Saint Clairsville, Ohio; brother, Ed Bower of Canton, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Patrolman William Boland Bell, 48, of Goose Creek, husband of Debra Bell, died Tuesday evening.

Mr. Bell was born in January 3, 1954 in Poughkeepsie, New York, a son of the late James Bell and Vallie Chestnut Bell. He was a graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Patrolman with the Summerville Police Department.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his parents, Marion and Sandra Wright, both of Summerville; his daughter, Taylor Cheyanne Wright of Warner Robbins, GA; his sister and brother-in-law, Sabrina and Jerry Wright, both of Bonneau; his nephew, Chris Wright of Bonneau and his niece, Kimberly Wright of Richmond, VA.

Mr. Thad Gleston Webb, 69, of 7673 Cherrywood Drive, died Tuesday. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM Friday at Northwoods Baptist Church.
Mr. Webb was born in Truxno, LA, a son of the late David Webb and Lula Slade Webb. He was a retired employee with the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was a retired United States Navy Veteran.
Surviving are a son, Charles S. Webb of North Charleston, a daughter, F. Charlene Mart of Warwick, Rhode Island; a step-son, Larry V. Gerard of Ruffin; a step-daughter, Bonnie K. Cribb of Round O; a brother, Ernest Webb of Houghton, LA; a sister, Edna Carter of Shreveport, LA; and four grandchildren: John Anthony Mart, II, Christopher J. Mart, Caroline A. Mart, and Joseph A. Mart; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
