Entered into eternal rest on November 16, 2002, Etta Burton Jones, widow of Isaac D. Jones, Sr. Residence, Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Jones was born September 7, 1922, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Walter William Burton and Hannah Kaufholz Burton. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna J. Roberts and S. Lillian Jones both of Charleston, S.C.; one son, Isaac D. Jones, Jr., of Rock Hill, S.C.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

GENTRY, Grace
DILLON - Services for Grace Hoke Gentry will be held Monday, at 3 p.m., in Cooper Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen cemetery. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, in the funeral home.
Mrs. Gentry, 93, died Friday in Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C.
Born November 29, 1908, in Knox City Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Will Samuel Hoke and Jessie Mitchell Hoke. She was the widow of the late Gilbert Gentry. She was a member of Dillon First Baptist Church where she was the adult ladies Sunday school teacher for 25 years, was a Girl Scout Leader for 15 years, teachers aid for five years, and a substitute teacher for five years.
Survivors include, her daughter, Ruthann G. Welch of Raleigh, N.C.; son, Ken and Betty Gentry of Darlington; brother, George Hoke of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Emily and J.R. Oakes of Raleigh, N.C., and Lisa and Scott Richberg of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Eli Gentry Richberg of Charleston.

KERWIN, SR., Gilbert
NORTH AUGUSTA - Mr. Gilbert Joseph Kerwin, Sr., husband of Mary Barrineau Kerwin, died Saturday morning in University Hospital of Augusta. He was 89. Mr. Kerwin was born in Louisville, KY March 19, 1913. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a retired employee of the Augusta Chronicle.
Surviving, besides his wife of the home in North Augusta are: 1 son, Gilbert Joseph "Bert" Kerwin, Jr. of Allendale; 1 daughter, Shirley Ann "Penny" Harvey of Newberry; 1 brother, Maurice Kerwin of Burbank, CA. There are 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Sumner Allen "Bucky" Kerwin.
Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Swallow Savannah cemetery in Allendale. Friends who wish to visit with the family may do so at the residence of Bert Kerwin on Bostick Road in Allendale. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
HAWKINS, Gladys
BURLINGTON, NC - Mrs. Gladys H. Hawkins, 90, of Twin Lakes Retirement Center, formerly of Fairfax Dr., Charlotte, NC, died Friday, November 15, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Hawkins was born in Meridian, Mississippi, a daughter of the late T.Y. Hendrix and the late Susie Duane Grace Hendrix. Her husband was the late William Henry Hawkins, Jr.
Graveside funeral services will be Monday, November 18, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, NC. Burial will follow.
Surviving are: 2 daughters, Mrs. Suzanne Owens of Charleston, SC and Mrs. Nancy H. West, formerly of Burlington, now of Wrightsville Beach, NC; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hawkins was predeceased by her husband, a granddaughter, Stewart Winkler Able; a sister, Mrs. Grace H. Scott; and two brothers, Mr. Robert Charles Hendrix and Mr. Lee Cloyd Hendrix.
Mr. Hawkins was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, in Charlotte, and was very active in church committees and activities. She was a former member of Hawthorn Lane United Methodist Church and The Joy Outlook Class. She was former President of Altrusa International of Charlotte, The Charlotte Board of Realtors and WOMPI (Women of the Motion Picture Industry).
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the cemetery.
HORTON, Myrtle
Myrtle Crenshaw Horton, 100, of Summerville, SC, widow of Harold Eates Horton, died November 16, 2002 at her residence.

Mrs. Horton was born September 25, 1902 in Heath Springs, SC, a daughter of Edward L. Crenshaw and Ola Beckham Crenshaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Arsenal Hill Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, June Horton Nyburg and James Nyburg of North Charleston; brother, Jesse M. Crenshaw of Summerville; 2 granddaughters, Jan N. Sullivan and husband, William of Sevierville, TN and Judy Snow and husband, Eric of Oregon City, OR; 4 great-grandchildren: Jenny Sullivan of Orlando, FL, Adam J. James Griffin, 57, of Ladson, SC, husband of Mary Anne Harley Griffin, died November 15, 2002 in a local hospital.

Mr. Griffin was born June 6, 1945, in Orangeburg, SC, a son of Colie Griffin and Joyce Williams Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a retired custodian. He attended Tall Pines Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Harley Griffin of Ladson, stepson, Wayne Elsey of Johns Island; brother, Cole L. Griffin of Ladson; sister, Shirley Ann Scott and Lois Hall, both of Summerville, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 4 great nieces, 1 great nephews, 2 aunts, and 1 uncles.

SMALL, III, Charles
Charles E. Small, III, died Friday, November 15, 2002 in Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 18, 2002 at 2:00 PM in Georgetown Church of God. Officiating will be Rev. Wilton Scruggs and John Henry Elliott. Burial, directed by GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
He was born February 10, 1978 in Charleston County, a son of Charles Eugene Small, Jr. and Sylvia Annette Avant Glisson.
He was a Quality Control Primary with Georgetown Steel Corporation. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycles as his hobbies. He attended Georgetown Church of God. Surviving are: his parents of Georgetown; his fiance' Nichole Goings of Georgetown; his paternal grandparents, Charles E. Small, Sr. and Dorothy Jacobs Small of Georgetown; two brothers: Benjamin Avant and Biff Small, both of Georgetown; one sister, Debbie Jacobs of Georgetown.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Sunday, at the Funeral Home.
