George Northrup Smith, Sr., 83, of Charleston, SC died November 13that home. Born in Walterboro to the late Marshall Matthew Smith and Catherine Emily Pinckney Smith. Mr. Smith attended Bishop England High School and was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He was retired and was a former employee of Youngblood Construction Co. Surviving is his wife of 62 years Irene Sweatman Smith; two daughters, Jeannette S. Bayliss and her husband Jim of Lewisburg, WV, and Sharon S. Hensel and her husband John of Charleston; three sons, George N. Smith, Jr., and his wife Carol of Coosaw Creek, Anthony Perry Smith of Charleston, and Michael Smith and his wife Barbara of Summerville, SC. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Trevor Shattuck, Jr., Tamara Shattuck, Timothy Shattuck, Johnny Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Jennifer Moore, Shawn Smith and Mandy Smith and 10 great-grandchildren. PHILLIPS, Marvin
Marvin Urlman Phillips, 81, of Beaver Dam, SC, a retired superintendent for Banks Construction, died Wednesday in a North Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be at 2:30 PM this Friday afternoon, November 15, 2002 in the Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church, Shulerville. Interment will be in Johnson cemetery, Beaver Dam. Mr. Phillips was born November 1, 1921, in Beaver Dam, SC, a son of Thomas P. Phillips and Lucy Price Phillips. He attended Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Phillips was an Army veteran of WWII.
Surviving are, his wife, Rosa Lee Cales Phillips; two daughters, Linda A. White of Greenville and Cindy Gaskins, Beaver Dam; a son, Michael M. Phillips of Beaver Dam; a sister, Jean Brown of Turbeville; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Trevor Adam Cain, 22, of Summerville, died Saturday, in a Massachusetts hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 11 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be in Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.

Surviving are, his parents of Summerville; sister, Ashley Cain of Amherst, Mass.; maternal grandparent, Anna Noble of Holliston, Mass; paternal grandparents, John and Marjorie Cain of Wayland, Mass.; his girlfriend, Amanda Sforza of Waltham, Mass.; and many aunts and uncles.

Robert L. (Ludge) Graham, 77, of Goose Creek, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at a local hospital.
A funeral service will be held, Saturday, November 16, 2002, 10 a.m., at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, entombment to follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Born August 31, 1925, in Conway, S.C. He was the son of the late John Robert Graham and Gertrude Ludlam.
Mr. Graham was a Merchant Marine for 17 years serving throughout WWII, a Mason, Scottish Rite (32nd Degree), Shriner, and Teamster. He retired from Pilot Freight Carriers in August 1989. Mr. Graham was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors included, his wife, Shirley Davis Flynn Graham, of Goose Creek, daughter, Patricia Flynn Hankins and husband Bobby of Goose Creek. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred and Kay Flynn of Mead, Oklahoma, Michael and Sarah Flynn of Goose Creek, grandchildren, Gregg Flynn of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lisa Flynn Vanweelden of Lancaster, Calif., M. Graham Flynn of Fountain Inn, Sean P. Flynn, of Fountain Inn, Robin Hawkins McInnis of Fort Mill, Sharon Hankins of Sumter and Angel Hankins Martin, of Goose Creek, seven great-grandchildren.

Louise Gatch Reynolds Mears, 92, died Thursday, November 14, 2002, at Summer Breeze Assisted Living Home.
She was born in Gloverville, S.C., to Edward L. Gatch and Zuleka Reynolds Gatch. She attended Walterboro High School and Charleston Business College. She worked during and post WWII for the U.S. Corps of Engineers. She and her late husband operated the Oleander Apartments at Tybee Island. She was a charter member and former Sunday school teacher at Morningside Baptist Church. She was a member and officer in the Spartners Coast Guard League Auxiliary. She was married
for 62 years to her late husband, Luther (Ludy) Mears.

FLEMING, Launa
Launa Dixon Fleming, of Mount Pleasant, SC, beloved widow of The Reverend Canon Samuel C.W. Fleming, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Fleming was born June 25, 1924 in Birmingham, AL, daughter of Frank M. Dixon, former Governor of Alabama and Juliet Perry Dixon. Launa attended Hollins College in Virginia and the University of Alabama, graduating with a B.A. in art. She was Assistant Curator of the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, and former President of the Junior League in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
As the wife of an Episcopal Priest in Charleston, she served her parish and her diocese here in countless ways. In addition to her many duties as wife of a priest, she was also a founding member of the Charleston Area Peninsula Day Care Board. She was instrumental in organizing a program at the Church of the Holy Communion for the mentally challenged. She served on the Board of World Missions for the Diocese of South Carolina. At the time of her death, she continued to serve on the altar guild, as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and was chairman of the Outreach Committee at the Church of the Holy Communion. She was also a member of the Junior League.
Survivors include: her daughter, Juliet F. Ingegneri, and her son-in-law Philip Ingegneri of Greenville, SC; her son, Murray Dixon Fleming and her daughter-in-law Lisa Shilling Fleming of Mount Pleasant; and her son, E. Comer Buck of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Catherine and Rachael Ingegneri, and Sam and Elizabeth Fleming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Canon Samuel Chew William Fleming, former Rector of the Church of the Holy Communion, and by her parents, Frank Murray Dixon and Juliet Perry Dixon, and her brother, Sam Dixon.
