George Northrup Smith, Sr., 83, of Charleston, SC died November 13that home. Born in Walterboro to the late Marshall Matthew Smith and Catherine Emily Pinckney Smith. Mr. Smith attended Bishop England High School and was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He was retired and was a former employee of Youngblood Construction Co. Surviving is his wife of 62 years Irene Sweatman Smith; two daughters, Jeannette S. Bayliss and her husband Jim of Lewisburg, WV, and Sharon S. Hensel and her husband John of Charleston; three sons, George N. Smith, Jr., and his wife Carol of Coosaw Creek, Anthony Perry Smith of Charleston, and Michael Smith and his wife Barbara of Summerville, SC. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Trevor Shattuck, Jr., Tamara Shattuck, Timothy Shattuck, Johnny Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Jennifer Moore, Shawn Smith and Mandy Smith and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6-8PM Thursday, November 14that McALISTER-SMITH DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. A vigil prayer services will begin at 6:30PM. Funeral Services will be 10AM Friday, November 15that Nativity Catholic Church 1060 Folly Road. Interment will follow in Holy Cross cemetery. ST. GEORGE - George D. Dukes, Jr., 78 of 5527 Memorial Blvd. St. George, SC died Tuesday November 12, 2002 in an Orangeburg hospital. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Griffin officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. George cemetery. Mr. Dukes was born April 24, 1924 in St. George a son of the late George D. Dukes, Sr. and Anna Mae Patrick Dukes. He was a retired Fireman and a member and former Chief of the St. George Fire Department and owner of Dukes Western Auto & Variety Store. He was an Army veteran of WW II and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was pre-deceased by son Jerry Dukes, sister, Sarah D. Smith, and brother, David L. Dukes.
Surviving are a special friend, Carolyn Chavis, North, SC, 2 sons, John L. Margot Hamilton Coleman died Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at her residence in the Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Home. Mrs. Coleman was born September 1, 1920 in New York City, New York, the daughter of Daniel Heyward Hamilton and Margaret Munsell Hamilton. She was a graduate of Ethel Walker School and attended Julliard School of Music. She was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Colonial Dames of America in the State of South Carolina and the Jr. League of Charleston, SC and Memphis, TN.
She is survived by four sons: James Walker Coleman, III of Charleston, SC, Heyward Hamilton Coleman of Wadmalaw Island, SC, Alexander Chisolm Coleman of Orangeburg, SC and James Thomas Coleman of Atlanta, GA; one brother: Daniel Heyward Hamilton, Jr. of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren: James Walker Coleman, IV, Chisolm Larkin Coleman, Heyward Hamilton Coleman, Jr., Alexander Chisolm Coleman, Margot Hamilton Coleman, James Thomas Coleman, Jr., Warren Hamilton Coleman and William Stuart Coleman; two great grandchildren: Logan Wulbern Coleman and Walker Hamilton Coleman.

CLAXTON, GA. - Susie K. Holland, 68, died November 12, at St. Frances Hospital in Charleston, S.C.
The Evans County native had resided in Charleston, S.C., for the past 36 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Phillip Holland.
Survivors are, her mother, Thelma Morris of Claxton; one son and daughter-in-law, Nickey and Vickie Holland of Wisconsin; one daughter and son-in-law, Johnna and Brad Mixson of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Barbara Roberts of Glennville; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Mr. Glenn Gray, age 75 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, November 12, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Gray was born September 24, 1927 in Murray County, Georgia, son of the late, James Eugene (Gene) and Emma Gray. Mr. Gray is survived by sisters, Lucille Gray and Florence Young both of Dalton; loving companion, Pauline W. Watkins of Goose Creek, SC; step-children, Rosalind Giddens, Phyllis Keiff, Susan Cothran all of Charleston, SC, Williard Watkins of Bonneau, SC; several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Gray was well known as the "Rug Man" at the Ladson Flea Market. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 2002 at 12:00 noon from the Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Pippin and Reverend Ronald Guffey officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Place cemetery in Murray County with Nephews serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Pfaehler was born July 14, 1916 in Columbia, SC, the daughter of Warren Brooks Whitton and Lucile Wilson Whitton. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and a founder and lifetime member of the Lowcountry Gem and Mineral Society.
She is survived by her husband of Charleston; one daughter, Sarah (Sally) Viohl Simmons of Mount Pleasant, SC; two stepdaughters, Lynn Crowe and Sondra Pfaehler of Charleston, SC; six granddaughters, six step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and thirteen step great grandchildren. Her first husband Henry Viohl, Jr. and two children, Meta Viohl Chaddick and Henry Viohl, III, preceded her in death.
She was a dedicated and loving matriarch and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Mollet was born November 23, 1910 in Denver, Co., daughter of William M. and Rose Herndon Kingery. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant. She was a bookkeeper for Eagle Printing Co. in Kansas City, MO for five years and continued her bookkeeper career for many years.
Surviving are her daughter, Rosemary E. Misenhelter, and her son-in-law, Aaron E. Misenhelter, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Ayers was born November 24, 1973 in Savannah GA, the son of Bruce Douglas Ayers and Joanne Newton Ayers. Sean attended Porter Gaud High School and graduated from Gaston College, in Gastonia, NC with high honors in May 2002. He received a degree in Business Finance. He was a longtime baseball coach for the Boger City Booster Club and was co-owner with his wife of Picture Pros. He was a wonderful father, husband and son.
He is survived by his wife of Gastonia, NC; his father: Bruce Douglas Ayers of Lincolnton, NC; his mother Joanne Newton Ayers of Gastonia, NC; two sons: Sean Newton Ayers and Joseph Ryan Ayers both of Gastonia, NC; one brother: Mark Allen Ayers of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two half-sisters: Tara Ayers Eller of Charlotte, NC and Deirdre Ayers Gardner of Wilmington, NC; an Uncle, Joseph T. Newton, III and an Aunt Marion Newton Schools both of Charleston, SC.
