SCHARDT, Sarah
Sarah Jane Schardt 96, died unexpectedly October 29, 2002 in Vero Beach, Florida. She was born March 14, l906 in Lone Star, South Carolina.
Mrs. Schardt was a member of St. Andrews Luthern Church in Charleston, Riverland Terrace - Garden Club and Senior Activies before moving to Florida in l998.
Surviving are her son George William Schardt, Jr. and a daughter Jane Caroline Burkett of Vero Beach, a brother Robert C. Jones of Hanahan, S.C. and three sisters, Miriam Stroman, Francis Thompson and Carolyn Stroman of Orangeburg, S.C., seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

RASHEED, Laurice
Silver Spring, Md. - Laurice R. Rasheed died Friday, November 8, 2002.
Mrs. Rasheed was born in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Naseeb Rasheed and Mamie R. Rasheed. She was a graduate of Winyah High School and the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Rasheed was formerly employed by the University of Maryland in the Physics Department. She was an active communicant of Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church.
Surviving are: her husband, Victor Rasheed of Silver Spring, Md.; a daughter, Suzanne R. Brown and her husband David of Greenwood and Pawley’s Island; a sister, Lucy Rasheed of Pawley’s Island; two brothers, Edward Rasheed of Litchfield Beach and Fred Rasheed of Charleston; a granddaughter, Jennifer Suzanne Brown of Elon University in Elon College, N. C.; and a grandson, William Christopher Brown of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.
Memorial services will be Friday afternoon at two o’clock in Old All Saints Church, Waccamaw at Pawley’s Island. Officiating will be The Rt. Rev. Charles H. Murphy, III and The Rev. John P. Greene. Inurnment will follow in Elmwood cemetery Annex in Georgetown.

DRIGGERS, Muriel
Muriel S. Driggers of Summerville, formally of Decatur, Ga., passed away on November 10 at the age of 93. She is survived by her daughter, Judith C. McElhannon of Ridgeville, and her son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Patricia T. Coggins of Summerville, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Louise Henley Salisbury, 97, of Summerville, SC, widow of Evans Thomas Salisbury, Sr., died Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at the Presbyterian Home.

Mrs. Salisbury was born on October 15, 1905 in Fulton, Alabama, a daughter of the late William Tolman Henley and Marie Grace Wofford Henley. She graduated from Summerville High School and attended Winthrop College, She taught school in the Summerville area. Mrs. Salisbury was a member of Summerville Baptist Church and a charter member of Order of Eastern Star #3142. She was Worthy Matron 1945-46.
Mrs. Salisbury is survived by two sons, Evans Thomas Salisbury, Jr. and his wife, Mildred Compton Salisbury, William Tolman Salisbury and his wife, Inis Lipham Salisbury; two daughters, Molly S. Bell, Rosemary S. Ward and her husband Benjamin W. Ward, all of Summerville; eight grandchildren, Hallie S. Gilbert, Lila S. Beckham, Margaret B. Newcomer, John E. Bell, Jr., Kim H. Hassold, Jack Harper, Bill Salisbury and Kathy S. Yarborough; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

HILL, William
William Cordell "Sam" Hill, 83, of Lebanon, a retired missile handler with the Polaris Missile Base and a retired farmer, died Monday at a North Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be at 2PM, Wednesday at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. Burial will be in Rudd Branch cemetery.
Mr. Hill was born May 2, 1919 in Berkeley County, SC, a son of William Bennett Hill and Abby Varner Hill. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a brother, C. B. Hill of Lebanon; sister, Marie H. Reeves of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews.

WILES, JR., William
Mr. William Heber Wiles, Jr., 81, of French Santee Road, Jamestown, SC, a retired Public Works Supervisor with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Monday morning at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11:00 AM this Wednesday morning, November 13, 2002, in the St. James United Methodist Church, Jamestown. Interment will be in the Church cemetery. Friends may call at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, until 9:00 AM and then at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Wiles was born November 29, 1920 in Elloree, SC, a son of William Heber Wiles, Sr. and Hallie Bochette Wiles. He was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church and a member of the Berkeley Lodge # 269 AFM. He was a graduate of Macedonia High School. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwendolyn W. Thomas and Mary W. Pope, and a brother, Everette R. Wiles.
Surviving are his wife, Janie Shuler Wiles; a son, George D. Wiles of Jamestown; a sister, Loretta W. Gamble of Lugoff; and two grandchildren, William Q. Wiles and Evan R. Wiles.
