Ms. Hamilton was born on September 13, 1951 in Charleston, SC, a daughter or John W. and Mary Louise Martin Hamilton. She graduated from James Island High School and Macon Technical College. Dianne worked for Charleston Memorial Hospital for twenty-two years and MUSC for the last two years.
Surviving are two sisters, Teresa Anne Bender of Paducah, KY and Donna Lynne Barrett of Birmingham, AL; three brothers, John W. Hamilton, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Dr. Ronald T. Hamilton of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Donald F. Hamilton of Summerville, SC, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carden, 83 was born on June 1, 1919 in Menglewood, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Jacob Grashot and Pearl Nolan Grashot. She was a retired Supervisor at The Charleston Naval Polaris Missile Base. Mrs. Carden was a member of the Submarine Veterans Auxilliary of WWII and L. Mendel Rivers Fleet Reserve Auxilliary Branch #50.
Surviving are her daughter, Janice Kight of Goose Creek, S.C.; her son, Olie L. Carden, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; five grandchildren, Nathan Kight of Dallas, Texas, Adrienne Carden of Hanahan, S.C., Jamie L. Carden of Spartanburg, S.C., Olie L. Carden, III of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Jessica Carden of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a sister-in-law, Wynettia Carden of Vernon, Alabama, a brother-in-law Gollie Carden of Sulligent, Alabama and one Sister in heart; Joan Tackett.

EDMUNDS, Robert
Robert Peyre Edmunds died at his home on November 11, 2002. He was born in Charleston on February 7, 1933, the son of Margaret Patterson Edmunds and R.P. Edmunds, Jr.. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Mr. Edmunds was a life-long member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, November 14, 2002 in Old St. Andrews Parish Churchyard, 2604 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday between five and seven o’clock at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Edmunds of Charleston, two daughters Glenn E. Jeffries of Charleston and Kimberlie E. Trask of Bluffton, three granddaughters, Kimberlie Ruth Trask, Elisabeth Auburn Jeffries and Kate Edmund Jeffries; one grandson: Denis Neil Trask.

HELMS, JR., Sanda
Lt. Col. Sanda B. Helms, Jr. (RET), age 72, passed away at his residence in Temple Hills, Md., on November 7, 2002, due to sudden heart failure. Services and burial with full military honors will be at Arlington National cemetery on December 9, 2002, at 1 p.m., with persons assembly at the administration building at 12:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by LEE FUNERAL HOME, CLINTON, MD.
Lt. Col Helms was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., August 25, 1930. He attended Tuscaloosa High School in 1948 where he lettered in football and was inducted into the Tuscaloosa High School Hall of Fame. From 1948 to 1951, he attended the University of Alabama where he lettered in football, was a member of the A Club and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. In 1951, he received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1955. In 1961, he received a Master of Science from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology.
Lt. Col. Helms began his Air Force career as a commissioned officer, attended flight school, served as an Air Force pilot and was a highly decorated Vietnam aviator with numerous Air Medals an Commendations. Following retirement from the Air Force, he settled in the Washington D.C. area, where he served in the Pentagon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanda B. Helms, Sr., and Louise Knight Helms and his survived by daughter Lisa Helms Knight (Ross), Lawrenceville, Ga., son Sanda B. Helms, III, (Tara), Charleston, S.C., grandchildren, Stephen and Leslie Knight and Tyler and Drew Helms, brothers, Charles W. Helms (Jean), Garden Grove, Calif., Robert K. Helms (Vali), Tuscaloosa, Ala., dear friend Rita Zuchelli and others that he maintained regular contact with by phone and e-mail.
He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

SULLIVAN, Gladys
SUMMERSVILLE, W.VA. - Gladys Blankenship Sullivan, 85, of Charleston, SC, formerly of Lockwood and Summersville, WV, died Sunday, November 10, 2002 in the Oak Heaven Assisted Living at Charleston, SC. Born May 18, 1917 at Quinwood, she was a daughter of the late Abe and Lydia Owens Taylor. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Bailey Blankenship and Charles Sullivan.
Survivors include two sons, Howard Blankenship of St. Petersburg, FL and James Blankenship of Shippensburg, PA; two daughters, Sandra Bird of Ridgeville, SC and Jenny Lewis of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at the Fairview Baptist Church at Lockwood, WV with Rev. Joe Brown, officiating. Interment will follow in the Montgomery Memorial Park at London, WV.

MANNING - Georgeann Raymond DeLair, 61, of 152 Pocohantas Street, Manning, formerly of Walterboro, died Sunday, November 10, 2002, at the Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

Mrs. DeLair was born September 27, 1941, a daughter of the late Julius and Vera Suggs Raymond. She was a member of the First Assembly of God and was twice married
, first to the late Thomas Craven and secondly to the late Ross James DeLair.
Surviving are: her daughter, JoAnn Hiers of Lodge; her son, Marvin DeLair of Manning; sister, Mary Hiers of Lodge, Lula Benton of Walterboro, and Helen Jones and Roberta Schmitt both of Manning; and four grandchildren.

Mr. William Heber Wiles, Jr., 81, of French Santee Road, Jamestown, SC, a retired Public Works Supervisor with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Monday morning at his residence.

Mr. Wiles was born November 29, 1920 in Elloree, SC, a son of William Heber Wiles, Sr. and Hallie Bochette Wiles. He was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church and a member of the Berkeley Lodge # 269 AFM. He was a graduate of Macedonia High School. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwendolyn W. Thomas and Mary W. Pope, and a brother, Everette R. Wiles.
Surviving are his wife, Janie Shuler Wiles; a son, George D. Wiles of Jamestown; a sister, Loretta W. Gamble of Lugoff; and two grandchildren, William Q. Wiles and Evan R. Wiles.

SHULER, Miriam
HOLLY HILL - Mrs. Miriam Shull Shuler, 88, of 277 Jackson Belt Road, Holly Hill, died Sunday at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg.
The funeral will be at 2 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2002 in the Providence United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 PM.
Mrs. Shuler was born in Lexington County a daughter of the late Thaddeus Haskell Shull and Nettie Livingston Shull. She was a 1935 graduate of Columbia College. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women. She was a former schoolteacher and a member of the Master Farm Homemakers Guild. She was the widow of J. Boyce Shuler and was preceded in death by a daughter Daphne Elaine Shuler.
Surviving are a son, Jacob B. (Caroline) Shuler, Jr. of Holly Hill; a granddaughter, Hilary Shuler and a grandson, Jacob B. "Jake" Shuler, III, both of Holly Hill.
