ESPIRITU, Val Owen
The relatives and friends of Val Owen Castillo Espiritu are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wednesday morning, November 6, 2002, at 10 o'clock. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock, where a Rosary will be recited at 6 o'clock.

HAYO, William
A memorial service for William (Bill) J. Hayo will be held at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 3222 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC on Saturday, November 9th at 11 AM. Mr. Hayo is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Gehlken Hayo, two sons: William J. Hayo of Mesa, AZ; Dennis G. Hayo of Nokesville, VA and one daughter, Carole L. Moore, Mt. Pleasant, SC; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 810 W. Florida Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32901.

SHULER, Mike
SANTEE, S.C. - Mike G. Shuler, 89, of 2376 Antioch Road, Santee, S.C., died Sunday, November 3, 2002, at the Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at Providence United Methodist Church. Casket will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial in Island cemetery. Rev. David Marcy will officiate. Visitation will be Monday night, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

SCOTT, Jennifer Ann

Mother of Leteshia Cooper, Quantella Scott and Clayton Scott; sister of Mary Francis Robinson, George Durant, Samuel Scott, Rosalee Blue, Lula Parker, Jerry Scott and Sherri Scott. MCCANTS, Jewell
GEORGETOWN - Jewell Swails McCants, 92, died Saturday, November 2, 2002, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. McCants was born in Andrews on November 29, 1909, a daughter of Joe Swails and Theodora Feagin Swails. She grew up in the Spring Gulley community of Williamsburg County and moved to Georgetown in 1942. Mrs. McCants was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended Lakewood Baptist Church. She was the widow of William Dennis Buck McCants.
Surviving are: two daughters, Marilyn M. Martin of Andrews and Mary Jo M. Troublefield and her husband Alex of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Louis Edward Martin and his wife Judy, Bruce Dennis Martin and his wife Jackie, Leah Yvette Martin Mauritz and her husband Bill, and Andy Troublefield; six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by: a son-in-law, Donald E. Martin; three brothers, J. Acue Swails, Clyde D. Swails, and G. T. Swails; and two sisters, Alma S. Michau and Florence S. Parsons.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at ten-thirty o’clock in Lakewood Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Schuyler Peterson. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery Annex under the direction of the GEORGETOWN CHAPEL OF MAYER FUNERAL HOME.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning at the Church from nine-thirty o’clock until service time.

BROWN, Benjamin
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Saturday, November 2, 2002, Mr. Benjamin "Ben, " "Pimpin Sam" Brown. Residence, Joseph Floyd Manor, Charleston, S.C. He is the beloved husband of Yancy Brown. He is the devoted companion of Sharon Banks. He is the beloved father of Benjamin L. Brown, Althorne O. Brown, Dana Brown, Nausaya D. Banks, Algernon T. Banks, Antwan J. Banks, Krashenda L. Banks, Vanerial McCray, and the late Antonio F. Brown. He is the beloved brother of Clarence Brown (Doris), Herbert Brown (Mary), Elnora Brown, and Betty Washington (Calvin). He is the beloved son of the late Frank and Helen Brown. Funeral notice later. Gourdine, Jr. (Janie), Patricia Coaxum, Rhonda Johnson (Jacob), Pamela Gourdine Scott, LCDR Timothy Gourdine, U.S. Navy (Virginia); sisters, Ethel Prioleau, Earnestine Rivers, Florence Barnett (twin); mother-in-law, Sarah Brown; sisters-in-law, Lucille Gourdine, Vermell B. Glover, Loretta Butler (JC), Elouise Haddock (Wayne); brothers-in-law, Edward Brown, Jr. (Joyce), Jessie Brown (Delores), Earl Brown; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Biggerstaff, 91, widow of Robert Huston Biggerstaff, Sr., died Sunday, November 3, 2002.
She was born in Beaufort County, August 24, 1911, a daughter of the late Horace Greeley Davis and Alice Rebecca Hubbard Davis.
She was a retired nurse, member of Bellingers Chapel United Methodist Church in Fairfax, S.C., the United Methodist Women and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are, sons, Robert H. Biggerstaff, Jr., and Phillip Wayne Biggerstaff, both of Charleston; daughters, Alyce B. Smith of Winnsboro and Sheralyn B. Triplett of Charleston; grandchildren, Robert Stephen Biggerstaff, Pamela Mahassey, Sheena Biggerstaff, Brianne Biggerstaff, Susan S. Raynor, Denise S. McDowell, Donna S. Douglas, David Platts, Robin Platts, and DeVonne Platts; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

SINTEFF, JR., Martin
Major Martin M. Sinteff, 68, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), of Summerville, died Friday morning in a Summerville hospital.
A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at 4 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Mission, 3371 Cochise St., North Charleston, S.C. 29405, or The Salvation Army, 4248 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, S.C. 29405.
Mr. Sinteff was born on June 25, 1934, in Montclair, N.J., a son of the late Martin M. Sinteff, Sr., and Ann Agnes Drudy Sinteff.
Mr. Sinteff retired from the U.S. Air Force Base in Charleston as the Weather Officer. He was a graduate of the Baptist College of Charleston and also attended the University of Maryland and the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He was a commercial and leisure artist.
His survivors include, sons, Michael David Sinteff of Atlanta, Ga., Jeffrey D. Sinteff of Summerville, Richard L. Sinteff of Summerville, Robert Scott Sinteff of Summerville; daughter, Kathryn M. Stuckey of Suffolk, Va.; sisters, Anne M. Bishop of White Hall, Md., Mimi Yantz of Toms River, N.J., Irene Sinteff of Nort Easton, Mass., Marian Carlino of Somers Point, N.J., Beth Battaline of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and ten grandchildren.

HAYES, Belle
Belle R. Hayes, 87, of Summerville, widow of Hubert H. "Buddy" Hayes, died Friday, in a Summerville hospital.
Her graveside service will be Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at 11 o'clock in Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Mrs. Hayes was born on January 4, 1915, in Juliet, Ga., a daughter of the late Wade Rhoney and Junie Burns Rhoney.
Mrs. Hayes was a graduate of Georgia schools. She was the manager of the lunch counter for F.W. Woolworth. She was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church in Charleston.
Her survivors include, son, James Hayes of James Island; daughters, Cynthia Goodale of Summerville, Marie Grime of Miami, Fla.; brother, Sidney Rhoney of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
