WALTERBORO - Matthew "Mack" Singleton, 57, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002.
The funeral will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 2, 2002, in Elizabeth Church of Christ, Ritter, SC. Burial, directed by HAMILTON'S FUNERAL HOME of Walterboro, will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Singleton was born in Colleton County and was the son of the late Lee Singleton and Etha Ford Singleton. He attended the public schools in Colleton County.
He was married
to Sandra Cunningham and to this union one child was born.
Survivors are: his son, Matthew Jordan Singleton; step-children, Jermaine Cunningham and Tasha (Kevin) Brown; four sisters: Jennie Roberts (Rufus), Angie Frasier (James), Bernice Perry (Leroy) and Connie Johnson (Edward); four brothers: William Melton, Joe Lee Singleton (Janie), Julius Singleton and Ellis Singleton (Angie); three sisters-in-law, Eva Singleton, Helen Miller and Louise Cunningham; three brothers-in-law, William Simmons, Robert Cunningham and Alphonso Miller.
BRISTER, Betty
Betty Maprena Brister, 87, of Summerville, widow of James H. Brister, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 11 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be in Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.

Mrs. Brister was born on April 30, 1915 in Campton, KY, a daughter of the late Elijah Anderson and Mary Agatha Baker Wireman. She attended the Western Kentucky Teachers College in Bowling Green, KY. She was a retired Portrait Photographer and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are: a daughter, Patricia J. and her husband Richard J. MacKinnon of Summerville; a son, James M. and his wife Rita Brister of Proctoville, Ohio; 5 grandchildren: Richard J. MacKinnon, II stationed in the US Navy, Mary A. Laughead of Lugoff, SC, Nicole MacKinnon of Summerville, SC, Tammy L. Eickholtz of Georgetown, IN, Cory Brister of Louisville, KY; 3 great-grandchildren: Madison, Elliott and Ethan Eickholtz of Georgetown, IN; and 1 brother, Lamer Wireman of Lexington, KY.

Richard Rosweld Norris, 82, the husband of Marjorie Norris, died October 28, 2002 at his home in Mt. Pleasant, SC. A memorial service will be held 1PM, today, Friday, November 1st at Mt. SANDKUHLER, William
Lieutenant Commander William "Sandy" Sandkuhler USNR (Ret.), 76, of Summerville, husband of Maureen A. Sandkuhler, died Tuesday afternoon in a North Charleston hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 1, 2002 at 11 o'clock in St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave., Summerville. Inurnment will be held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Sandy was born on August 24, 1926 in New York, New York, a son of the late William Sandkuhler, Sr. and Elsie Swain Sandkuhler. He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church.
A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1949, and U.S. Navy Supply School, he served in the Navy on the USS Grand Canyon and put the USS James C. Owens back in commission and saw combat service in Korea. He also served at the 3rd Naval District in New York, as the supply officer for Mobile Construction Battalion 10 located on Guam, and at the Naval Supply Center, Bayonne, NJ.
After leaving the Navy, he began a 29 year career with RCA Missile and Surface Radar Division, Moorestown, NJ. While with RCA, he served as the Logistics Leader for the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) in Greenland, Alaska, and the United Kingdom. He also was the Logistics Manager for the Kiernan Reentry Measurement Site (KREMS) in Kwajelein, Marshall Islands and as the Aegis Depot Manager at Moorestown, NJ. He retired and moved to Summerville in 1989.
Upon his retirement and relocation to Summerville, he was active in the Navy League, the Charleston Chapter of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumi Association and twice served as the President of the Southpointe Homeowners Association.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maureen A. Sandkuhler, 3 sons: William Sandkuhler, III of Kailua, Hawaii, Brigadier General Kevin M. Sandkuhler USMC of Stafford, VA, Robert J. Sandkuhler of Lititz, PA; 1 daughter, Anne E. Sandkuhler of San Francisco, CA; 8 grandchildren: Danny Sandkuhler of Kailua, Hawaii, Severn I. Sandkuhler of Kailua, Hawaii, William Sandkuhler, IV of Kailua, Hawaii, Michael J. Sandkuhler of Stafford, VA, Kathryn Sandkuhler of Stafford, VA, Meghan E. Sandkuhler of Lititz, PA, Christopher M. VALENTINE, Frank
Franklin D. "Frank" Valentine, 69, of Summerville, husband of Marcella Scheuffele Valentine died Monday evening at his residence.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, October 31, 2002 at 1 o'clock in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston.
Mr. Valentine was born June 25, 1933 in James Island, SC, a son of the late Barnie Hulen and Ellen Crosby Valentine. He was a James Island native. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a former member of the American Legion. He was a retired heavy machine operator with Charleston County Public Works for 30 years. His love for the outdoors was his passion, his family was his joy. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith.
He leaves behind his wife, Sallie, of 32 years; son, Darin Valentine and his wife Sharon of Garrison, Iowa; 7 daughters: Sandra Miller of Charleston, SC, Bonnie Carambla of Hampton, VA, Roxanne Cloran & Danette Brew, both of Spartanburg, SC, Raenelle Joyner of Goose Creek, SC, Andrea Wyndham of Summerville, SC, Sherry Workmiester of Mechanecville, MD; foster daughter, Sherry Franceschi of Summerville, SC; 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many friends; 1 sister, Coleen Antley of Moncks Corner and 1 brother, Winfield Jamison Valentine.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Leroy and Charles E. Valentine.

ELLABELL, GA. - Mrs. Grace Hughes Hagan, age 83, died early Thursday morning at her residence near Ellabell. She was a native of Screven County and lived in Ellabell since 1942. Mrs. Hagan was a homemaker and a member of Hubert Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Harold Hagan of Ellabell, Ga.; her son and daughter-in-law, John I. and Dixie G. Hagan of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two grandsons, John I. "Jay" Hagan of Sumter, S.C., and Jeffrey B. Hagan of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two sisters, Doris Hagan of Hartwell, Ga., and Jazie Ingram of Garden City, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Hughes of Garfield, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hagan will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Hodges-Turner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Mack, 60, was born February 6, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late John Albert and Mildred Rilling Mack. Mr. Mack was a retired Master Chief serving in the United States Navy and a member of the Fleet Reserve and T.A.M.S.
Surviving are his wife of Goose Creek, S.C.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Ray Mack and Gabrielle of Goose Creek, S.C., Keith Williams and Sheri of Goose Creek, S.C., Nathaniel Ray, Mack, II, and Teresa of Michigan and Jeffrey Mack of Michigan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Gabuyo and J.R. of Goose Creek, S.C., Brenda Moseley and Donald of Charleston, S.C.; also surviving are seven grandchildren.
