MCKENZIE, Martha
SUMTER, S.C. - Martha Ann Kirkland McKenzie, 84, wife of Ross Scott McKenzie, Sr., died Friday, October 25, 2002, at Tuomey Hospital of Sumter.
Mrs. McKenzie was born in Columbia, S.C., a daughter of the late Benjamin Brown and Evelyn Ceruti Kirkland. She attended the University of South Carolina. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Junior Welfare League, Drama Club, Sumter Art Association and Cotillion Club.
Survivors include her husband of Sumter, two sons, Sigmund W. Stoudenmire, Jr., of Charleston, S.C., B. Joel Stoudenmire of Greenville, S.C. One daughter, Ann Kirkland Stoudenmire of Houston, Texas. Three step-sons, Ross Scott McKenzie, Jr., of Columbia, S.C., Wayne Lang Hogan of Sumter, S.C., and Marshall Pence Hogan of Summerville, S.C.
Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by husband, Sigmund W. Stoudenmire, Sr., and Lang O. Hogan.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2002, at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tony Metze and Rev. Dr. John Barr officiating. Burial will follow in Sumter cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Ellis, Patrick Ellis, Ben Stoudenmire, Ross Beebe, Reid Beebe, III, Kenneth McKenzie, Andy Hall and Hamilton Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lea B. Givens and Dr. Charles White. Ushers will be D.G.F. Bultman, Ray Davenport, and Sep Harvin, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Mr. Willis, 53, was born in Timmonsville, S.C., on September 12, 1949, the son of John Richard Willis and Mary Emma Phillips Willis LeHew. Mr. Willis was a member of New Covenant Church of God and was a retired police officer with the Charleston City Police Department.
Surviving are his wife of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two sons, Phillip Wayne Willis, II, of Summerville, S.C., Shon Matthew Judy of Moncks Corner, S.C.; a daughter, Sheri Suzanne Maxwell of North Charleston, S.C.; three sisters, Patricia Chilton of Ladson, S.C., Carol Haley of Summerville, S.C., Mary L. Porterfield of New Haven, Conn.; four brothers, Harry LeHew of Summerville, S.C., John R. Willis, Jr., of Charlotte, N.C., Ronny Shannon and Donny Shannon, both of South Port, N.C.; two grandchildren, Nicholas Maxwell and Myah Maxwell.

Mr. Jeffrey, 68, was born in Ladds, Tennessee on August 15, 1934, the son of Andy Thomas Jeffrey and Bernice Irene Peardon Jeffrey. Mr. Jeffrey was a retired Veteran serving in the United States Navy for over 20 years. Among his many achievements, he graduated from the US Naval Nuclear Power School and served aboard the SSBN 600 Theodore Roosevelt. After his Navy career, he worked for Chem-Nuclear Systems as Manager of Nuclear Plant Services, retired again in 1996.
Surviving are his daughter, Peggy J. Rochay of Moncks Corner, SC; two sons, Dave Jeffrey of Chattanooga, TN and Andrew Jeffrey of Goose Creek, SC; two sisters, Mildred Stallings of Chattanooga, TN and Linda Privette of Memphis, TN; 8 grandchildren, Shawn, Neil, Whitney, Gabrielle and Jamie Jeffrey, Leslie and Jennifer Haddock and Peggy Lou Rochay.
Mr. Jeffrey was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Jeffrey and Thomas Jeffrey.

Mrs. Hamon was born May 31, 1932 in Arcadia, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Walter Eugene Lankford and Mrs. Lillie Geddes Lankford. Mrs. Harmon attended North Charleston High School and was a member of the North Charleston Church of God.
Surviving in addition to her husband of North Charleston are a son, Roger Darrell Hamon of Brooksville, FL; two daughters: Sandra H. Gordon of Greensboro, NC, and Virginia Patrice Mixson of North Charleston, SC; two brothers: Ira Lankford of Summerville, SC and Bishop Raymond Lankfrod of Parchment, MS; as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hamon was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl H. Hicks of Grenada, MS.

Mrs. Carter, 84, was born in Alexandria, Virginia on April 30, 1918, the daughter of Arthur William Taylor and Maria Helena Miller Taylor. Mrs. Carter was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Colonial Beach, Virginia and was a homemaker. She was a forty year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Past Commander of the Colonial Beach Yacht Club. A member of the 40&8, and a Volunteer for the Virginia Veterans Administration Hospital and was active in the Art Community in Colonial Beach, Virginia.
Surviving are her daughter, Arnette Carter Pratte of North Charleston, SC; a sister, Ruth Burtch of Powder Springs, TN; a granddaughter and two great-grandsons.

Mr. Locklair was born February 17, 1922 in St. Stephen, South Carolina, a son of the late Sherwood H. and Maybell Locklair. He was educated in the public schools of South Carolina and a Purple Heart United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was also a member of the V.F.W. Post in Ladson, SC, and American Legion Post #166 as well as the Military Order of the Purple Heart. In addition to receiving the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Clusters, Mr. Locklair was also the recipient of the Bronze Service Arrowhead, Bronze Star Medal. During his service to our country, he also served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Mr. Locklair was retired from Local 601, The International Association of bridge, structural, ornamental and reinforcing Iron Workers Union.
Surviving in addition to his wife of Ladson are his sons: Timothy Locklair of Alto, GA, Larry Locklair of Fredricksburg, VA, a daughter: Theresa Sims of North Charleston, SC, two step-sons: Donald Weaver of Greenville, SC, Samuel D. Weaver of Greer, SC, and his sister: Dorothy Steen of Cottageville, SC, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Locklair was preceded in death by a daughter: Sharon Locklair.

Mr. Acree was born May 15, 1918 in Macon, GA, the son of the late Earl Troy Acree, Sr. and Evie Munn Acree. He was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church and attended Deer Park Baptist Church with his wife. He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of the V.F.W. and The American Legion. He was also a retired Power Plant Supervisor with the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
Surviving are his wife of Moncks Corner and North Charleston, SC; two sons, David M. Acree of Moncks Corner, SC and Richard A. Acree and wife Diane of Nashville, TN; a step-son, Randall Whisenhunt of North Charleston, SC; two step-daughters, Debra W. Heyward of Summerville, SC and Joy W. Segars of North Charleston, SC; one sister, Peggy West of Redding, CA; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Acree was predeceased by two sons, Ronald J. Acree and Earl Troy Acree, III.
