ROGERS, T.T.
DENMARK, S.C. - Family visitation for T.T. Rogers, 85, of Denmark, will be from 11 a.m., until noon, Thursday, December 19, 2002, at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Denmark, with services immediately following in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. MERCER FUNERAL HOME is in charge. Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 20, 2002, in Grandview cemetery in Clinton, N.C., with Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Family visitation will be immediately following the burial at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Oaks, P.O. Drawer 327, Orangeburg, S.C. 29116-0327.
Mr. Rogers died December 17, 2002, at native of Clinton, N.C. Mr. Rogers was the son of the late Tommie and Essie Rogers. He died after several years of declining health while a resident of The Methodist Oaks near Orangeburg.
Mr. Rogers owned Rogers Tire and Recapping and Rogers Wrecker Service in Denmark for three decades. He was a former supervisor for Cates Pickle Co. of Fasion, N.C., and moved to Denmark, S.C., in 1946, to set up a processing plant for the Company.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denmark and was a Master Mason. Mr. Rogers was a founding member of the Denmark Rescue Squad and was active in fund-raising for such community activities as the Boy Scouts, area bands and Jefferson Davis Academy.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bertha B. Rogers of the Methodist Oaks, a daughter, Beverly R. Zorn of Lexington, S.C., a son Charles T. Rogers of Summerville, S.C., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
MATHENY, Margaret
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Margaret Anne Matheny, 65, passed away December 18, 2002.
She was born in Akron, Ohio, was a lifetime resident of Cuyahoga Falls, was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1955, and she worked for the Cook Motor Lines /Concept
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Viola Ray; brother, William Ray; sister, Blanche Rios, and brother-in-law, Alvin "Bud" Stake.
She is survived by her father, Robert Ray, Sr.; son, Dirk (Patience) Matheny of Summerville, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Anna Matheny of Cuyahoga Falls; granddaughter, Megan Matheny; step-grandchildren, Larry and Tara; sisters, Marilyn (Bruce) Averell of Akron, Dorothy Stake of Louisville, Ohio, Donna Cowger of Las Vegas, Nev., Roberta (Jim) Miller of Cory, Pa., Mary (Guy) Smith of Akron; sister-in-law Judy Ray of Cuyahoga Falls; brother, Robert, Jr., and Phyllis Ray of Knob Noster, Mo.; brother-in-law, Jeff Rios of Barberton, many nieces and nephews; special friends, Lilly and Della.
Calling hours will be Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the MCGOWAN-REID AND SANTOS FUNERAL HOME, at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m., Rev. Susan Lausch officiating. Interment, Greenlawn Memorial Park.

HENSHALL, SR., Joseph
Joseph B. Henshall, Sr., 66, retired US Navy Chief and Chief of the Goose Creek Rural Fire Dept. died Monday, December 16, 2002 at a local hospital. Born March 20, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of Burton Burns and Margaret Cecilia Henshall (nee Bonawitz). He was a graduate of North East Catholic High School in Philadelphia and then joined the US Navy. He retired as Chief after 30 years of service in 1984. He was the Chief of the Goose Creek Rural Fire Dept. and after retiring began another career with the North Charleston Detention Center. He retired as a Lieutenant. Mr. Henshall is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret "Peggy" Henshall, Goose Creek; two sons Joseph B. Henshall, Jr., Akron, OH and Thomas A. Henshall, Sr., Gatlinburg, TN; daughter Theresa M. White, Hanahan, SC; sister Judith Guerriero, Pennsauken, NJ; niece Patricia Haines, Goose Creek; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son James Edward Henshall. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 19, 2002 from 6-8PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 100 S. MUELLER, Henry
Henry Ernest Max Mueller, 80, of Moncks Corner, died on December 15, 2002, at his home after a long illness. Born on June 4, 1922, in Miranda, S.D., he was the son of the late Max and Margarete Mueller. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, World War II veteran and retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer. He had been active with the VFW and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. He was also the former owner of Goldmine Pawn Shop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mueller and his son Karl Mueller. He is survived by two sons, David Mueller of Seffner, Fla., and John L. Mueller and his wife Diane of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two brothers, Erwin Mueller of Champion, Mich., and Richard Mueller of Moncks Corner, S.C.; grandchildren, J.C., Max and Dorothy Mueller; and one great-grandson, J.J. Mueller. The family would like to invite all of his friends and relatives to attend his graveside service at 2 p.m., on Thursday, December 19, 2002, Riverview Memorial park, 3715 Azalea Drive, Charleston, S.C. 29405. EVANS, Inez
Inez Dennis Denaro Evans of Moncks Corner, SC, died Monday, December 16, 2002 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2002 at 11 AM in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Burial will be in Biggin Church cemetery. Mrs. Evans was born on March 16, 1906 in McBeth, SC. She was the daughter of W.H. Dennis and Edna Belle Weinges Dennis, the middle child of five children, all now deceased; two brothers, Gordon Dennis and Edward Dennis; two sisters, Christine D. Shipley and Irene D. Blankenship. She was christened at the Cordesville Episcopal Church of Holy Innocence.
Mrs. Evans had a great love for Berkeley County. In her youth, she was an accomplished horseback rider and an avid sportswoman who loved to hunt. She had a passion for gardening and growing flowers of the Lowcountry and was a member of the Moncks Corner-Pinopolis Garden Club.
She was also a charter member of the Berkeley County Historical Society and was instrumental in helping to get the Berkeley County Museum built.
She is a member of Strawberry Chapel Episcopal Church and attended the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family on Hwy 17 A.
Her work careers included: clerk-typist at the In transit Depot in Moncks Corner during World War II; clerk with the Agricultural Stabilization Board; supervisor in communications at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and later the office supervisor in Naval communications at the Shipyard in Norfolk, VA.
She was first married
to the late Louis Francis Denaro, Jr. of Charleston and in 1958 married
John G. Evans of Charleston, now deceased. She is survived by two children. One daughter, Edna Denaro Taylor, is deceased. The two surviving children are, Louis Francis Denaro, III and wife, Dorothy Patton Denaro of Moncks Corner and Maxine Denaro Lytle and husband, Thomas Eugene Lytle of Pawleys Island.
Seven grandchildren survive: Mary Alice Taylor, Lt. Commander Louis Francis Denaro, IV, US Navy, Ret., Marie Denaro Fosnot, Col. Thomas Eugene Lytle, III, Capt. Richard Albert Lytle, Lt. Col. Robert Kenyon Lytle, and John Harry Lytle. There are thirteen great-grandchildren.
SWAIN, John
ST. GEORGE - John Michael "Mike" Swain, 51, of 109 Horne Street, St. George, S.C., died Thursday, December 12, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Charleston, S.C., after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at LING FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5580 Memorial Blvd., St. George, S.C., with the Rev. Terry Stephens, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the National cemetery, Beaufort, S.C., directed by Ling Funeral Home of St. George, S.C. (843) 563-3589.
Mr. Swain was born September 8, 1951, in Charleston, S.C., a son of the late Mrs. Mabel Martin Swain and Johnny Swain. He was a graduate of Mather School, Beaufort, S.C., and attended Benedict College. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mike lived for many years in Norfolk, Va., before returning to South Carolina.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Mrs. Debbie Swain of Norfolk, Va., his beloved daughter, Ms. Tracey Swain of Norfolk, Va.; one step-daughter, Cynthia Cherry of Norfolk, Va., two step-sons, Danny Cherry and John Cherry both of Norfolk, Va., one granddaughter, Yranna Cherry of Norfolk, Va., two devoted cousins, Ms. Cynthia Martino and Ralph Martino, both of St. George, S.C. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
MCRAE, Jon
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - Mr. Jon Archie McRae, 43, died Friday, December 13, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at the Chapel of COX-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME OF MULLINS, with Rev. William C. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Midway cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral home.
Mr. McRae was born November 30, 1959, in Mullins, a son of the late Archie and NezAnn Marsh McRae. Mr. McRae was a roofing contractor. He was a US Army veteran.
Surviving Mr. McRae are, a brother, Craig McRae of Summerville; two sisters, Lynn Daniels of Benson, N.C., and Julia Baker of Myrtle Beach; two sons, Seth Allen and Tally of Summerville; a daughter, Jennifer of Tennessee; and three special nephews, Wyatt Heath Grice. Samuel Jason Grice and Michael.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at COX-COLLINS FUNERAL HOME OF MULLINS.
FRY, Gladys
Gladys V. Fry, 87, of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at a local nursing home. Born October 20, 1915 in Donnellson, Iowa she was the daughter of Henry and Martha Kirchner (nee Bentzinger). A former resident of Woodstock, Illinois she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Woodstock. She attended Iowa State University and enjoyed painting but her life was always her family. She married
her husband, Scovell L. Fry, in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Fry is survived by her son John Scovell Fry, Ph.D. and his wife Elizabeth of Costa Mesa, CA; daughter Marti Merryman and her husband James of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two granddaughters: Julie Young and her husband Richard of Mt. Pleasant and Jeanine Merryman, MD of Little Rock, AR; and two great grandchildren: Ellen and Caleb Young. Mrs. Bryan was born October 19, 1927, in Lanes, S.C., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Eadie. Mrs. Eadie was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Patricia B. and son-in-law Randy Kemmerlin of Hanahan, S.C., two grandchildren, Bryan Kemmerlin and Jennifer Kemmerlin, both of Hanahan, S.C., Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Bryan who passed away in 1967.

Clarice Pruitt, 81, of 300 Springview Lane, Summerville, SC, formerly of Henderson, KY, died Wednesday afternoon, December 11, 2002 at Trident Hospital in Charleston.
She was a member of Miles Road Baptist Church in Summerville, SC and she was a former member of Immanuel Baptist Temple in Henderson, KY.
She is survived by her daughter, Greta Jones and son-in-law, Johnny Jones of Summerville, SC; one brother, James Reeder of Lakeworth, FL; two grandchildren, Stephen Jones of Summerville, SC and Michael Jones of Greenville, SC.
Memorial services will be held at 5 o'clock Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at Miles Road Baptist Church in Summerville, SC.

Rev. Lewis Pinckney Dangerfield, 81, of Summerville, husband of Doris C. Dangerfield, died Sunday, December 15, 2002, in a Charleston nursing home.

Rev. Dangerfield was born in July 13, 1921, in Summerville, S.C., the son of the late William B. Dangerfield and Martha D. Droze Dangerfield. He was a graduate of Berkeley County Schools. He graduated from North Greenville College in 1961 and Limestone College in 1965. He was a member of the Military Order of Purple Hearts, American Legion and he was a Mason. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, where he received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the American Defense Service Medal. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for 11 years. He then became interim pastor at several churches. He later retired in 1986 as a Baptist minister at Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Surviving are, his wife of Summerville; son, Larry B. Dangerfield of Summerville; daughter, Dianne Dangerfield Howard of Taylors, S.C.; granddaughter, Meegan Dangerfield Vaughn of Summerville; grand-son, Todd Howard of Taylors, S.C.; two brothers, Eddie Dangerfield of Summerville, Marvin Dangerfield of Moncks Corner; five sisters, Elizabeth (Teenie) Ward of Summerville, Vivian Mizzell of Summerville, Essie Huff of Summerville, Ruth Jackson of Summerville, Emmaline (Bunny) Hill of Travelers Rest, S.C. He was predeceased by his grandson, Joel Howard.
