BURBAGE, Linnie
RIDGEVILLE Mrs. Linnie Huff Burbage 93, of 4750 State Road, Sandridge Community, died Sunday, December 8, 2002 in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be 2 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2002 in the Sandridge Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Litchfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridge Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Burbage was born in Berkeley County a daughter of the late George Huff and Jessie Burbage Huff. She was retired from the Charleston Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Sandridge Baptist Church and a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Hanahan. She was the widow of Frank D. Burbage.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Annie Lee Singletary of Ridgeville, Mrs. Mae Varnadoe of Hollywood, SC, and Mrs. Eunice Mims of North Charleston; son, Frank D. Burbage, Jr. of Silverton, Oregon; sisters, Mrs. June Ebo of Moncks Corner and Mrs. Anita Fillinger of Annapolis, MD; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great, great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM this Tuesday evening at Avinger Funeral Home of Holly Hill, and other times at the home of Mrs. Annie Lee Singletary, 4750 Old State Road in the Sandridge Community.

NEESES - Mrs. Betty Gene Winn Proveaux, age 57, died Saturday, December 7, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Mrs. Proveaux was born in McCormick County, a daughter of the late James Carroll and Carrie Geneva Ridlehoover Winn. She was a teacher's aide and a member of Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles H. Proveaux of Neeses; step-daughter, Sherry Allen of Pelion; a step-son, Charles H. Proveaux, Jr., of Leesville; sisters: Mary Ann Riley of Greenwood, Carolyn Jackson of Aiken, Miriam James of St. George, Gail Collier and Terry Jones both of Plum Branch; 6 grandchildren.

Betty Lou Windham Scruggs, affectionately known as "Boots", died Saturday, December 7, 2002 at a local hospital. Born July 17, 1933 in Lamar, SC, she was the daughter of Hoyt and Rosa Mae James Bryant Windham. Mrs. Scruggs was a Baptist. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her husband, Dwidell Scruggs of Charleston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Shannon Justice of Charleston, and Patrick and Jennifer Justice of Summerville; brother, Gary Windham of Holly Hill; and granddaughter, Lauren Dale Justice. Mr. Copenhaver died Sunday, December 8, 2002. Born in Huntington, W.Va., he was a son of the late Lesta Bliffin and O.A. Copenhaver. Mr. Coperhaver attended Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., was retired from McCrory's 5 & 10, and was the founder and president of Copenhaver and Associates. He was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Blevins Copenhaver of Columbia, SC; children, Susan Barrabee of Santa Cruz, Ca., Molly Haught of Charleston, S.C., David Copenhaver of Hurricane, W.Va., and Bill Copenhaver of Mt. He was a graduate of Fort Dorchester High School, and was presently a senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. Brian was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, Summerville, S.C. Brian was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and was the Sweetheart of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. He worked part time with Richardson, Plowden, Carpenter and Robinson Law Firm as a credit collections clerk.

WALTERBORO - Mrs. Frances Marian Ramsey Knight, 77, of 131 South Jefferies Blvd., entered into eternal rest Sunday, December 8, 2002, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston.

Mrs. Knight was born December 17, 1924, in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Wilford Adam and Minnie Marie Warren Ramsey. She was a graduate of the Ruffin High School and retired as a sales clerk from Hiott's Pharmacy in Walterboro. She was a longtime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Essie Loper Circle and had taught Sunday School. She was the widow of Mr. Harry Adam Knight, Jr.
Surviving are, her sons, John Gregory Knight of Walterboro, and Steven Barry Knight and his wife Tammie of Dacusville; two sisters, Ottie Lee Rizer of Walterboro and Mary Ann Outlaw of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Leah Jessica Knight, Forrest Adam Knight, and Tanner Jordan Knight; a special niece, Ruth Rizer of Walterboro; and several other nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barnhill died Sunday, in a local medical facility. She was born December 22, 1926, in Florence County, SC, the daughter of the late Bert and Hester Poston Hanna. She was the wife of the late Richard W. Barnhill.
Mrs. Barnhill was a homemaker and attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Richard E. "Skeet" (Sheila) Barnhill of Florence; one daughter, Emma (David) Poston of Pamplico; two brothers, Ted Hanna of Johnsonville, John Hanna of Florence; two sisters, Eris Jones of Pamplico, and Algeria Grimes of Florence. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Johnathan Hanna, Edwin Barnhill, Richard Barnhill, William Barnhill, and Dwayne Poston; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jack Hanna and Billy Hanna.
