JOB, Kathleen A.
RIDGEVILLE Mrs. Kathleen A. Job, 74, of the Sandridge Community, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 8, 2002 at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
A funeral will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 11, 2002 in the chapel of Avinger Funeral Home of Holly Hill with Pastor Alan Kinsey officiating. Burial will be Saturday in the Ipswich City cemetery, Ipswich, S.D. directed by Gramm-Hein Funeral Home of Ipswich, S.D.
Mrs. Job was born Nov. 3, 1928 in Exeter, New Hampshire a daughter of the late William A. Quinn and Mildred F. Quinn Cochran. She grew up in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, and had lived in South Dakota and Mississippi before moving to the Sandridge Community in Ridgeville. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and David Bell, and her older sister, Mildred LaForge.
She is survived by her husband, Walter A. Job, Sr. of Ridgeville; son, Walter A. Job, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Carla Job of Ridgeville; sister, Barbara Martell of Kittery Point, Maine; brother, Robert Quinn of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME of Holly Hill from 6 to 8 PM this Tuesday evening.

SCHAEFER, John
Entered into eternal rest on the evening of December 6, 2002, John Charles Schaefer, husband of Lynne Hause Schaefer. Residence, Mount Pleasant, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John Charles Schaefer are invited to attend the funeral services of the former Thursday at one o’clock in Old St. Andrew’s Parish Episcopal Church.
Mr. Schaefer was born July 6, 1956 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of William J. Schaefer and Glory Campbell Schaefer. He was a graduate of Horry-Georgetown Technical School and later became a hydrographic surveyor with the US Army Corps of Engineers.
He is survived by his wife of Mount Pleasant, SC; his mother of Charleston, SC; one sister: Nancy S. Toussaint of Charleston, SC; one brother: Thomas C. Schaefer of Richmond, Virginia; nieces and nephews: Stephen, Paige and John Schaefer, Sarah, Tony and Luke Everett, Abigail, Madeline and Alexandra Hause.

KOSTER, Desmond

Miss Koster was born November 18, 1921 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of John Christopher Koster and Claire Richardson Koster. She graduated from the College of Charleston with an A.B. degree in 1943, majoring in Latin and English. She did her postgraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Library Science in 1944. She served as Assistant Librarian at the Hospital Library in Fort Bragg, N.C. for one year and at the Service Club Library there until 1947. The next two years were spent at the Florida State University Library in Tallahassee serving as Assistant Librarian with the rate of Instructor. In 1949 Miss Koster returned to Charleston as Librarian at the Medical College of the State of South Carolina. She presided over this small library until 1968, when she became Reference Librarian, with the rank of Assistant Professor until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the American Library and the Medical Library Associations. She served as Chairman of the SC Library Association and was Exhibit Chairman for Annual Meetings for many years. She was also a member of the Carolina Art Association, The Charleston Library Society, South Carolina Historical Society and many other civic organizations.
She was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, where she served in the choir and on the Altar Guild for over 40 years.
She is survived by one sister: Anne K. Donato of Mount Pleasant, SC; two nephews: Henry Donato, Jr. of Charleston, SC and Christopher D. Donato of Mount Pleasant, SC; two nieces: Clare Desmond Donato of Port Angeles, Washington and Marianne D. Gissell of Mount Pleasant, SC; six grand nephews and nieces; three great grandnieces.

DAVIS, Athabelle
Athabelle M. Davis of Ladson, died Sunday, December 8, 2002, at a local hospital.
A graveside service will be held Monday, December 9, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Park, burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
Born March 5, 1922, in Pontotoc, Miss., she was the daughter of the late John A. Simms and Pearle Estelle Welch Simms.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister.
Mrs. Davis of was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include, five daughters, Barbara D. David of Macedonia, Dorothy D. Smith of Ladson, Betty D. Johnson of Dunlap, Tenn., Janet D. Hood of Macedonia, Joan D. Bolton of Summerville, two sisters, Zelma S. Carter of West Memphis, Ark., Mary Lee S. McDonald of Kansas, 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Davis was predeceased by her husband, Clarence E. Davis, two sons, Louis Davis, Jessie Davis, one sister, Lullian S. Belcher, one grandson, Palmer Eugene Bolton, III.

THEES, Harold
Harold Edward Thees, 86, of Charleston, died December 8, 2002, at his residence.
Born August 24, 1916, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of the late Henry C. Thees and Annie Stelling Thees.
Mr. Thees was a retired PBX Installer with Southern Bell. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and was of the Lutheran Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Rains) Thees, two sons, Eric Thees of Charleston, Ronald Thees of Charleston, one sister Elise Reese of Charleston, one brother, Henry Thees of Metarie, La., and two nieces.
