BURROUGHS, Gerald
DECATUR, GA - Dr. Gerald W. Burroughs, 82, of Tucker, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002. He was born in Ila, GA, December 8, 1919, to Gipson Aquila Burroughs and Pauline Richey Burroughs. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Burroughs of Baton Rouge, LA. He grew up in Ila, Fitzgerald and Douglas, GA. Dr. Burroughs was salutatorian of his high school class; attended West Georgia College and UGA where he received a degree in Chemistry. He went on to the Medical College of Georgia, where he was a member of AOA medical honor society. He served in the Army Air Corps. He did his intership at Charlotte Memorial in family medicine and practiced in Rock Hill, SC, Ellentown, SC (while there, the town was taken over by the US Government to build an atomic power plant, and Jackson, SC, where he resided for many years. He returned to MCG in 1959 and completed a residency in Psychiatry and stayed as a member of the MCG faculty. During that time, he also worked for mental health clinics in Greenwood and Anderson, SC. After the death of his wife, Mildred Johnson Burroughs, of Waynesboro, GA, Dr. Burroughs opened a practice in Summerville, SC. He resided in Decatur and Tucker, GA after his retirement. Since 1954 he was a part-time resident of Kiawah Island, SC. Survivors include his daughter, Kay Burroughs Ballenger; son in law, Paul Ballenger; granddaughters, Holly and Maggie, all of Tucker, GA. Graveside service will be at Westover cemetery, Augusta, GA at a future date. PATTERSON, Dolly
Dolly J. Patterson, 86, of Charleston entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 26th. She was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Lamb Patterson. She was a retired department manager, avid reader, enjoyed participating in travel outings with the Senior Citizens of Charleston, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her son, Boyce S. Patterson, predeceased her. Surviving Mrs. Patterson are her two daughters, Jane Hale of Charleston and Beth Vause of Charleston, SC. Also she leaves four grandchildren, David and Jennifer Vause of Charlotte, and Lisa and Sarah Hale of Charleston; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Zoe Vause of Charlotte; one brother, George Jefferson of Columbia, several nieces and nephews, and many Charleston friends. A Funeral Mass will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. WAGES, JR., Lonnie
Lonnie William Wages, Jr., 65, husband of Joyce Harper Wages of Edisto Island, SC and formerly of Columbia, SC, died Monday, December 2, 2002 in Charleston, SC. Mr. Wages was born Monday, May 17, 1937 in Columbia, the son of Lonnie William and Blanche Gertrude Greene Wages. He attended Columbia schools and was a member of the National Guard, retired fire fighter and arson investigator with the Columbia Fire Department. Mr. Wages was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a volunteer at the church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are his wife Joyce H. Wages; a daughter, Kathern W. Gonzales of Edisto Island; two sons, Lonnie W. Wages, III of Lexington, Violet W. Fetner of Columbia; seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 5, 2002 at St. Frederick and St. Stephen Catholic Church, 544 Highway 174, Edisto Island. Raul Quintana Mendoza, 17, of Goose Creek died suddenly Saturday, November 30thas a result of a car accident. Born in Cortazar, Guanajuato Mexico to Raul Quintana Paredes and Nieves Mendoza Vera. He was employed at Rivertown Country Club in the ground maintenance department. He is survived by three brothers, Pilar Quintana Mendoza, Sergio Rosas Mendoza both of Charleston, and Juan Rosas Mendoza of Florida. Also a sister, Rosario Rosas Mendoza of Florida, and a sister-in-law, Debra Rosas Mendoza of Charleston. Mauricio Figeroa Solis, 25, of North Charleston died suddenly in a car accident Saturday, November 30th. Born in Santa Ana Huista, Guatamala to Mateo Mauricio Figeroa Alva and Regina Solis Tomas. Mothers-in-law and father-in-law Mrs. Gloria Ravenel and Mr. and Mrs. Elijah and Martha Rhodes. KELLOGG, Raymond
Raymond Jefferson Kellogg, 98, of Harrisonburg, died Sunday, December 1, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Kellogg was born on November 1, 1904, in Verdigre, Nebraska, and was one of nine children of the late John Henry and Dora Catherine Lafrenz Kellogg.
After attending the University of Nebraska and Wayne State Teachers College, he taught in a junior high school and managed a retail chain grocery before joining Swift and Company as a sales representative in 1932. After several promotions and transfers, Mr. Kellog was transferred to Newark, N.J., in 1949, where he was general manager of van Wagenen and Schickhaus, a Swift subsidiary engaged int he manufacture of pork products. While in New Jersey he was active in Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, and several Boards. After his retirement in 1969, Mr. Kellogg moved to Santee, S.C., where he was charter president of the Lions Club, as well as Realtor with Santee Realty, Inc. As a volunteer executive with the International Executive Service Corps he assisted in the design and construction of meat processing plants in Managua, Nicaragua, and in Lisbon, Portugal. In 1988, he moved to Harrisonburg where he was a member of Grace Covenant Church.
He was united in marriage, October 2, 1929, to Dorothy Elizabeth Wild, who preceded him in death, October 14, 1986. On May 7, 1988, he was united in marriage to Fairy Elizabeth Sacks Ward who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Sharon K. Richardson of Bridgewater, and Roger F. Kellogg of Anderson, S.C.; one sister, Harriet Kennedy and one brother Vernon Kellogg both of Bellevue, Nebraska; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 5, at 10 a.m., at Grace Covenant Church with Rev. Robert Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. at Grace Covenant Church prior to the service. Friends may call at the funeral home at anytime.

Harold Ray Roberson, 63, of Moncks Corner, SC, died Sunday, December 1, 2002 in Charleston, SC. Born February 9, 1939 in Falkner, MS, he was the son of the late Johnny Burton Roberson and Lettie McDowell Roberson. A former resident of Burnsville, NC, he was an active volunteer with the United Way, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Mental Health Assoc. and the Lions Club. Mr. Roberson was self-employed in sales but was most recently employed by Piggly Wiggly. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Donna Rae Roberson of Moncks Corner; three sons: Harold Ray Roberson, Jr. of Broken Arrow, OK, Michael Sullivan of Moncks Corner, SC, Chris Sullivan of Goose Creek, SC; three daughters: Cheryl Bailey of Collierville, TN, Sharon Miller of St. Matthews, SC, Debbie Holton of Gilbert, SC; one brother, Norman Roberson of Tiplersville, MS; seven sisters: Rema Nance of Lakeland, TN, Doris Nelson of San Diego, CA, Jean Maddox of New Albany, MS, Linda Jackson of Jonesboro, AR, Patsy Nobles of New Albany, MS, Betty Roberson of Memphis, TN, Gere Roberson of Memphis, TN; mother in law, Winnie Mullins and 13 grandchildren.
